Pacific Dunes Ranch and RV Resort, Oceano, California

Date of Stay: September, 2008 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park. Be advised that is it generally very windy in Pismo-hence the dunes-and the upper spots in this park have high winds every afternoon. Not a lot to do at the park but it's not a far drive to lots of activities. Staff was very nice and helpful. Didn't use the showers-but they didn't look very clean. Recommend Tanner Jacks for good food and a great happy hour. We camped at Pacific Dunes Ranch and RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Smithwoods RV Park, Felton, California

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park with a terrific staff. WiFi is spotty but it is also free. Location is great. Agree with earlier post-do not drive Hwy 9 between the park and Santa Cruz. Tends to be misty in the a.m. We camped at Smithwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tahoe Valley RV Resort, South Lake Tahoe, California

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We just finished a 2 week stay and didn't have any of the problems noted below. Campsites are dirt and pine needles, but you're in a forest. I do think that except for a few premium sites, the campground can't handle really large rigs as the roads are narrow and twisting. Didn't see any unsafe electrical. Pool was open and clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Certainly not a "10" but not a "1" either. I do recommend surveying your site carefully. We changed twice when I felt that I couldn't get in easily. WiFi was not really expensive 15/wk but reception was spotty We camped at Tahoe Valley RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Zion Canyon Campground & RV Park, Springdale, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Location to the park is major plus. Shuttle stops right in front. Sites were average with some shade. Major issue is that there are a lot of group tent areas and when we were there we noticed hundreds of kids in the groups. No behavior issues but way too many people for the restrooms. Also, there always seemed to be something out of order in the restrooms. No WiFi but it is available right up the street in the library. Probably stay somewhere else next time. We camped at Zion Canyon Campground & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Winnemucca / I-80 KOA (formerly I-80 Winnemucca), Winnemucca, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Under new ownership and they are working hard. Lots of "permanent residents" and lots of evidence that they are trying to get the park in shape. Friendly staff. Let's face it, if you're in Winnemucca it's only because you're headed somewhere else. This is a good spot to crash for one night. We camped at Winnemucca / I-80 KOA (formerly I-80 Winnemucca) in a Motorhome.

Mountain Shadows RV Park, Wells, Nevada

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Wells is pretty much dying, but this is a nice little spot. The owners were quite friendly and helpful. There's a grocery within walking distance and you can gas up, etc. Everything worked fine. Great spot to stop, but I'd call ahead as there are a lot of people who use it on their way across N Nevada and it does seem to fill up. We camped at Mountain Shadows RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

J & H RV Park (55 + Park), Flagstaff, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Super clean park with a nice staff. Not much in the way of a setting, just a place off the main road toward Zion, etc. Not a place I'd stay for very long as it really lacks any true ambiance and doesn't have Wi-Fi. We camped at J & H RV Park (55 + Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Beaver Canyon RV Park, Beaver, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

What can you say? This is a funky rustic park mainly used by "permanent" residents. Everyone was friendly and the park was clean and everything worked. It's a fine one-nigher and short stay (while visiting Great Basin, like we did). We camped at Beaver Canyon RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Springville/Provo KOA , Springville, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Sites were a little narrow and close together, but it's a very nice park. Great Staff. Quite a bit of road noise and we had some problems with low voltage one day-it was quite hot and the system was probably strained. We camped at Springville/Provo KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Grand Canyon Camper Village, Tusayan, Arizona

Date of Stay: June, 2008 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Agree with the previous review. They are trying to get this straightened out. Staff was very friendly. Restrooms clean and supplied. No Wi-Fi in camp but available in all of the cafes (free). Good spot for visiting the canyon. I would not have any problem going back. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Fifth Wheel.
