The cable was out ("Someone will be in today to fix it. Gophers ate the lines." Not happening.) The pool was closed indefinitely. The roads were rutted. Sweet but clueless high schoolers manning the desk. Shade available only to those staying a week or more, apparently. Access road hazardous with overgrown trees and narrow entry. No warnings of such. The list is longer. Avoid.

Definitely family friendly with hay rides, petting zoo, games, etc. Too bad we don't have children. Level, wide spots. Friendly and helpful staff ("Don't worry about a thing; just turn on your laptop and you're on line.") No special fees or log-ons. All dogs were on leashes; even the camping pot-bellied pig was. Will definitely return for a third visit.

Flying Flags is getting pricey. But, the location is superb -- lots of lovely, independent wineries to visit and minutes from downtown Solvang, a pseudo-Danish village with marvelous restaurants and touristy and non-touristy stores. A bus stops in front of the park and ferries guests to the nearby Chumash gambling casino. On our last visit to Flying Flags, rain had delayed the remodeling of some sites into "super sites" -- our "super site" was still dirt. So, FF sold large woven mats at cost and a generous site cost discount. Not unexpected as the staff is always helpful and surprisingly cheerful despite the heavy traffic the park receives.
