Overall this is a great campground. They have hay rides for the kids and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They offer a canoe and kayak shuttle to campers wanting to go down the Saco for a day trip.

On July 25th we checked in at Shannons Sanctuary. Our group consisted of 3 couples and our 5 year old child. We are all avid campers and responsible, respectable adults. We were looking forward to a relaxing trip on the beautiful Saco River. Our trip was anything but relaxing and enjoyable. The owners were confrontational, condescending, rude, and unprofessional to say the least. It appeared that they were trying to cause conflict from the time we pulled in until the time we pulled out. We were harassed, yelled at, spied on and provoked. My 5 year old daughter noticed throughout our stay that the man and woman were sneaking around hiding behind trees watching us. This made her very uneasy. This behavior is creepy and absolutely unacceptable. The bathrooms were dirty and offered only a bottle of lotion on the edge of the sink. No soap. The showers were also disgusting and only open from 7am to 9pm. Many people get up before 7 and like to shower. This is by far the worst camping experience that any of us have ever had. If you are looking for a fun, relaxing, enjoyable camping trip this is not the place for you.

The campground offered a very nice atmosphere. We had a very private wooded site. The campground store had a large selection of camping goods. We enjoyed our trip.
