Moss Landing KOA Express, Moss Landing, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $83.00
Overall Rating:

There are only a few places to stay when visiting in a RV in the Monterey/Santa Cruz area. We found Moss Landing a great halfway point and love this KOA. You are protected by fencing which is nice. Not many young children running around and more of a mature group which is nice for a more quiet trip. This park does not have much for amenities but does have laundry room, community fire pit and nice green lawn!! You can hear the sea lions and seagulls, which I love. The staff is amazing! Extremely accommodating and friendly. Sites are skinny but if you don't spend a major amount of time outside you are good. Pads are concrete and level. Small patio for picnic table and that is about it. Full hook up offering both 30/50. Cable TV and the satellite availability is great. Wireless is spotty. We frequent this place twice a year. Highly recommend. We camped at Moss Landing KOA Express in a Travel Trailer.

Willits KOA, Willits, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $64.00
Overall Rating:

Our truck broke down and were greeted by friendly staff who allowed our Travel Trailer to be towed in and parked while we got our truck repaired (3 days, busy holiday travel time). It was a very stressful time for us and the kind of service and the site they put us in was much appreciated. We were stuck with no transportation and so got to really enjoy the park. There is definitely a lot to do here. We took a nice walk up to & around their fishing pond, visited their petting zoo, sat on the lounge chairs in the water park and relaxed to the peaceful sound of water falling down like a waterfall. We visited their old western village and pool. They offer a game room, fully stocked store, hot tubs, a great miniature golf course, multiple children's playgrounds, a dog playground, a basketball court, a volleyball court & horseshoes. They even offer a Zen garden & a Skunk Train depo. I rated 4 start for value only because I feel RV at parks have gotten almost as pricey as some nice motel resorts. And, if you do not have a KOA membership, then my site would have cost someone in the tune of $80. I gave a 4 star for cleanliness only because it would be nice if more gavel was on the roads to lay down the traffic dust that is constantly flowing & the lawns in the sites were half dead and not green. The amenities are fabulous though and sites are level. A great place for family gatherings. This KOA offers monthly events which I am looking forward to attending. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. I will be going back for sure. We camped at Willits KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Beachfront RV Park, Brookings, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2008 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Love how this RV park is on the beach, however a lot of traffic and they can park, blocking your view from your site. Level pads, no grass but rock. The sound of the crashing waves can be a bit loud but it is great if you like that. Did not care for the staff. There were literally 6 sights available in our type but the staff lady did not let us choose, stating they were reserved but once morning came, those sights were still available. They have a sign stating you can not reserve a specific sight but can reserve the type, yet not allowing us to choose from the open sights in our type once there. That was frustrating when explaining their own policy to her. She acted dumbfounded. So be firm in that if this happens to you. We got stuck in a spot that was not meant for slides therefore being WAY too small. We would stay again but would be far more clear when we got there. We camped at Beachfront RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

Waldport / Newport KOA, Waldport, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2008 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean! Very family friendly! Nice staff! Way over priced considering you can get beach front for $35 down the road. Road noise is present from the bridge. We booked 4 nights until we saw the water view was not the ocean but the bay (our fault for not asking in more detail) and the price we were paying. Semi level gravel pads. We ended up only stay 1 night and loosing 1 night just to get to the beach front we were hoping for. If you have a family this is great, if not, there are a few RV grounds around there that are very nice with beach front views. We camped at Waldport / Newport KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Ireland's Ocean View RV Park, Gold Beach, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2008 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean little RV park. No host and not too much to do. Need to go up to the street and over 2 motels to get registered. That was a pain, but they offer leveled concrete sights with grass pads and picnic table. No fire rings. Nice for quick overnight stop when passing through. Quaint little lighthouse to watch the sunset threw to get out of the cold. There is a well traveled trail to the beach. We would stay overnight again but not too thrilled with Gold Beach and would probably bypass to Bandon By the Sea next time. We camped at Ireland's Ocean View RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sea and Sand RV Park, Depoe Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2008 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

What a great park! The host Charlene is a darling! We moved to Sand & Sea from Walport KOA eating a night just to come here. Charlene graciously set us up in a spot right in view of the ocean. What a wonderful view! They have back-in and pull-in all with ocean views. You really can't go wrong! The sounds of the waves crashing were amazing! The restrooms are newly remodeled and very clean! They offer a private beach. We will absolutely stay again. Recommend reservations. We camped at Sea and Sand RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

McCloud RV Resort, McCloud, California

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Great park! Nice extremely friendly and accommodating park host. Wonderfully clean and lovely grass at most sites. We went with another couple on a short notice and were able to get side by side in a full campground. Sites are a bit cramped but premium sites are more liveable mostly if wanting to be outside. They accept Good Sam Club members and allowed my four small Shih Tzus to come without any extra charge. Would stay again. We camped at McCloud RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Rancheria RV Park, Hat Creek, California

Date of Stay: August, 2008 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Quaint little lake with hook and release fishing. Close to Hat Creek for great fishing. Convenient registration and clean semi-level grounds. Great store and out-door barbeque grill. Night personnel very friendly and accommodating. Upon making reservations we asked for a lake side site and paid for a lake side site. I was given a few different sites that had the lake view bur upon arrival we were put in the spot recommended and the view was completely blocked by tall thicket, thus therefore no view. We were disappointed and asked the next day to move to a site that had a view and that was open. We were told they were completely full. That night, the campground was not full at all. So being lied to was quite disheartening and very much a let down. This is a great campground but I would check it out for sites prior to taking their recommendations and watch for those lies. We will return in the future but with site knowledge this time. We camped at Rancheria RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA, Petaluma, California

Date of Stay: July, 2008 - $72.00
Overall Rating:

Excellent for family camping. They offer a petting zoo, pool, hot tub & sauna, arcade room, pet agility area and many different activities throughout the day including tours. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again. The RV sites are not very level at least ours was not. Mostly dirt base with little rock but if you can level your own vehicle and want a good old fashion feel of camping with today comfort, this place is great! Fire pits are offered and there is plenty of shade. Has to be one of the best KOAs we have seen thus far. Not to mention only 40 mile from the big city of San Francisco. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground), Eureka, California

Date of Stay: July, 2008 - $51.00
Overall Rating:

Was a great place to overnight. Daytime personnel was great! Night personnel was horrible. Night staff was very rude and yelled a lot at the kids on the grounds. We ended up stuck over due to forest fires blocking off the roads so had to pull back in for another nights stay. The night staff were on already and when we stated we had been there the prior two nights and would like the same site back since it was open, we were told it was reserved. We were shoved next to a couple live-ins and the park was empty. The next day on check out, noticing the site was still open, we spoke to the day staff and told them of the check-in. She graciously credited us back half the nights fee and apologized over and over again. She stated she would let the owners know and that our original site was never reserved. This KOA was very clean and we would stay again since the day staff was extremely professional and friendly but watch out for that night staff. We camped at Redwood Coast Cabins & RV Resort (formerly Eureka Campground) in a Travel Trailer.
