Stony Brook Recreation and Camping, Hanover, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2008 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

$16 is the Passport America rate for a full hookup site ($32 regular rate) in the new section close to the highway. $12.50/$25 for electric and water only in the original wooded campground up the hill. WiFi only reaches the new section. Park roads are rough and washed out after a major rain, but they filled them in promptly. Getting up the road into the wooded section might best be done with 4-wheel drive. Spectacular views from the new section. Highway noise was not that bad. Friendly and helpful office staff and manager. We camped at Stony Brook Recreation and Camping in a Motorhome.

$10 was the RPI rate I paid. Well maintained park, roads are all good. WiFi is $4/day and only reaches the front section. My cellphone did not work until I put up my Wilson antenna and amplifier. Office staff were very friendly and helpful both on the phone and in person. We camped at Rondout Valley Resort Thousand Trails in a Motorhome.

Riffle Run COE, Burnsville, West Virginia

Overall Rating:

I paid $10 for a site with electric and water, under my Golden Age Passport. Regular rate is $20. Regular rates for full hookup $26, tent/primitive $12. Cash or check, no reservations. Open Apr 25-Nov 30. Shower/restroom facilities, laundry, playground, dump, fresh water fill-up, tables, fire-ring/grills. Sites are along Riffle Run, a pretty little stream that runs most of the year. Campground host was friendly and accommodating. We camped at Riffle Run COE in a Motorhome.
