Date of Stay: December, 2005
I posted the August 2005 review, above. Winter accommodations were the same, except that the water hookups had to be turned off due to cold. Dump station was open. Significant off-season discount, and very low occupancy. Restrooms were clean but in need of minor repairs.

On two summer week nights, the campground was quiet. This isn't surprising, since with so little usable space, there's nobody sitting around outside, or even cooking out on a grill; there's about one picnic table per 4 sites. The laundry, restrooms and showers were clean, with no dirt, trash or litter in evidence. Staff were friendly and patient, with photocopied maps and directions; plenty of 24-hour security (at least partly for the marina's fancy boats). The location is handy to ferry and PATH subway to Manhattan (still just $1.50), but funky in a businesslike way -- the office hasn't been redecorated in decades and there's some small industry in the area, in addition to the marina. There's plenty of on-site entertainment, especially watching neighbors trying to maneuver big rigs in the tight spaces, and it's fun to watch guys in suits running to catch the commuter trains in the morning. But mostly this place is about access to NYC, not about on-site activities.
