Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Park, Copper Hill, Virginia

Date of Stay: June, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a small, beautiful RV park just for Airstreams. The mountain view from the campground is breathtaking with the most beautiful sunsets. The park is run by volunteer stockholders who take turns being hosts and everyone is super friendly. Guests can join in during park social events like happy hour under the trees or other activities they schedule. It's great balance of mountain tranquility and hospitality. There are no bathroom/shower facilities so plan to use your RV for that. There is a nice laundry in the clubhouse guests can use. The nearby town of Floyd is great (13 miles) and Roanaoke and Christiansburg are close by as well. Not to be missed. We camped at Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rainbow Springs State Park, Dunnellon, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2007 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Here is an update on this park. The entire campground up by the river is closed while they upgrade the camping area. I talked to the ranger 3/07 about the progress. The only presently available camping is out by the office which is basically a grassy field with little shade. In the future they are going to totally refurbish the campground into two loops much like the newer state park campgrounds in Florida (like Silver River). They were supposed to be done by now but spent the funding on the new tuber takeout. In the future you will be able to float tubes down the river to a point and then a tram will take you back to the park. They have built the tram road through the woods so that part is done. Originally they were to have the campground improvements done by now but the ranger said they have no idea when they would be completed. This park has great potential they just need to complete the work so we can camp there again! The old campground up by the river will be changed to pavilions for picnics. It is one of our favorite places and we miss camping there. We camped at Rainbow Springs State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Levi Jackson State Park, London, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2006 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Pretty park, but entrance is not scenic and is in the middle of town. Campsites varied greatly with respect to grade, size, and level. Some looked very low and might get soggy in rainy weather. Some sites were fine but faiirly narrow. A handful of sites near the office were level, large, and wide enough to accommodate slides and awnings with no problem. We camped at Levi Jackson State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Cumberland Falls State Resort Park, Corbin, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2006 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This park is a pretty setting but the sites are very short. Our 25 ft. travel trailer would have to hang over the back edge over the mountain to fit. The camp office said they have big RV's here all the time but I don't see how they fit. Not a lot of room to park the tow vehicle either or have an awning/patio set up. We looked at this campground but did not end up staying at it. Beautiful park and falls. We camped at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in a Travel Trailer.
