This park has lots to offer, too much in fact. I get the idea that it trying to be a resort location rather than a campground. The sites are assigned when you check in by some sort of color coding scheme. We had a difficult time finding a sight in our assigned color that would fit our camper, and a pop up is not that big. Even during the week the campground had a very crowded feel to it. Fortunatly none of our "neighbors" were the type to use flood lights, so it was at least dark. The newer restrooms / showers were in good condition and clean. I can't say the same for some of the older buildings. If you prefer a site that has more of a theme park feel than a quiet camping experience this may be the place for you. There were lots of planned activities offered every night and I'm told that the restaurant is very good.

WOW! This park was awesome. The site was the best we've ever had and we wished we had time to stay longer. The site we picked was a large back in site with a split level stair way down to a picnic table landing. The entire park had heavy shade cover, even though we were here in June, the temperature under the mountain canopy never got above the low to mid 70s. The park was quiet even on the weekend. The view from the lookout atop Fort Mountain is breathtaking. You do have to travel up and down the mountain to get to most other sites and activities, but the park is well worth the trek! On the down side, I was hoping to see a bear, but was told only 7 have been spotted in the area over the last 2 years.

Camping as a family we found the boredom level at this campground to be high. Our first night was quiet (on a weekday), however for the rest of our visit neighbors moved in and the peaceful setting was gone. The sites are very close together, and quiet hours were not enforced. The campgroud is small and not much else in the area. The campground is also in a marsh area, so bring alot of bug spray. Blood sucking insects rule here! I had planned on fishing, however was told by park staff that I would need a Florida fresh water license. Upon leaving a different member of the park staff told me that this was not true as long as we fished off the bank (I went home and researched it and the second was case). The beaches are a short drive away. This is not a place I would recommend.
