Newport / I-40 / Smoky Mountains KOA, Newport, Tennessee

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA is showing some age. However, most items seem to be in good working order. The bathhouses were spotless and up to date. The pool was in decent repair and was clean. It had plenty of lawn chairs to sit in. The sites were mostly level. There were about 10-15 long term sites and most of these were well maintained. There was a fire ring, a picnic table (painted yellow), water, electricity, and cable at each site. The trees were in the correct place. Overall the staffs were OK. A few negatives include too many signs. The dog run needed water and a place to sit. The office looked like a souvenir store. The WIFI was spotty at best. Lastly, the grounds were well maintained and the grass was mowed. We camped at Newport / I-40 / Smoky Mountains KOA in a Motorhome.

Myrtle Beach State Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This state park has it all! I will start with the positives. The sites are all very level and shaded. The picnic tables all looked to be in good working order. The fire rings were in every site. The grass was mowed and most trees were trimmed back so as not to be in the way. The bath houses were in good working order and there was a good supply of hot water. The camp store was well stocked and they had an air compressor to use. The nature center was in great shape and there were plenty of activities for kids of all ages. The roads were all paved and were in good repair. The only negatives I could find were the lack of security in the right places. The prices for pier fishing were a tad high. The reservations system makes one plan ahead. They do not have a pool nor do they have basketball goals. I would give them a 10 if they had had those. We camped at Myrtle Beach State Park in a Tent.

This campground continues to impress. The site (C17) was a bit un-level. The bathhouse was clean and the showers were clean. The overall campground was spotless! My wife and 2 dogs loved the long walks this place offers. The electric worked well. We do wish they had water and sewer there. The dump station was spotless too. We camped at Cumberland Gap National Historic Park / Wilderness Road Campground in a Motorhome.

This last say was short but good. The bad is some items such as the showers are showing age. The door locks on the showers are showing age. The campground needs more electric spaces badly! The camp host were OK and seem to make efforts such as cleaning the bathrooms each night. The site we had (B7) was mostly level. The trees provide plenty of shade. We will return. Douglas Dam Headwater - TVA, Sevierville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The check in here is so simple. Just pull in and check and see if there is a site you like and pull into it. The Host will come and check you in. The sites range from very unlevel to somewhat level. I'd say about 50% of them would not accommodate a class C RV. Each site contained a picnic table, a fire ring, and most had some sort of concrete pad. About 90% of the sites had water and electricity. The overall campground had plenty of trees: however, there were plenty of sites without trees. The bathhouses were very clean. The overall campground was incredibly clean too. Thankfully the grass and landscaping was extraordinarily well done too. The dam was a site to see. There were a few overlooks that were great! The location of this campground was super! It was only about 4-5 miles away from several grocery stores and about 5 miles from a major flea market. Lastly the other facilities at this place were top notch too such as the swimming area, boat launch, and the ability to have your boat very near your site. We were only about 50 foot from the waters edge. We are coming back to this campground. We camped at Douglas Dam Headwater - TVA in a Motorhome.

Myrtle Beach State Park, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This state park is one of the best I go to. The long curving entrance is wonderful! The fee station is painted and the employees there have always been top notch. The other employees and volunteers are top notch too. Our site was well groomed and ready when we got there. Security rates well here too. I noticed a hint of security with out it being overwhelming. Their facilities are all in good working order. The main bathhouse we used was cleaned twice a day. And, all showers sinks and toilets were in good repair. The site (114) we had was level and very large. The picnic table was in good repair and there were plenty of shade trees. The laundry room was large and the camp store offered almost every item you might need. The beach was just a short walk or there were plenty of parking spaces to drive your vehicle to. There were hiking trails, a nature center, and an activity center. The only items lacking were a basketball goal, tennis courts, and an arcade. This campground has a ocean pier. This pier is great for fishing. Their nature programs are great for children. Pets are very welcome here at this campground. WIFI is available at this campground. This campground is very family friendly. They have signs announcing no alcoholic drinks allowed. Lastly, the main roads into and out of were in good shape. We camped at Myrtle Beach State Park in a Tent.

This stay in this park was good. The showers were clean but the shower heads needed replacing. The sheer number of sinks is too few. The sites were as good as normal. The picnic tables are in good shape. The electric on our site was working well. My wife and I noted a few mice scurrying around. Come to think of it, we also noticed a few chipmunks and lots of squirrels too. We did notice a large rattlesnake near the campground. The lack of playground equipment and the lack of a pool make this campground more of an adult campground. I can also say I seen no adult beverages being consumed while we were there. Lastly, the dump station worked well. We camped at Cumberland Gap National Historic Park / Wilderness Road Campground in a Motorhome.

Ocean Lakes Family Campground, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Our last stay in this campground was good for the most part. This park has it all and is improving. The putt putt course is a little run down. They could use additional basket ball courts. The shuffleboard area needed a little TLC. The good included the bathrooms, check in area, and indoor pool area. The great included security, different programs for kids, and access to the beach. The last news I got was they are improving their pool area. I understand that they plan to add a water slide or 2 and some other water related items. One lacking thing is the fish. The entire time I have been going, we have not caught any fish of any size. My wife and I would return. We camped at Ocean Lakes Family Campground in a Cabin.

Bean Pot Campground, Crossville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

About 50% of the sites here are mostly level. The facilities are getting older. The sites just one row over were without water. The sewer was backed up too. On the plus side, there are plenty of shade trees and a nice club house. The pool was closed for the season. There looked to be a fire ring at most sites. The picnic tables were fair shape. Check in was smooth and they took some money off for Passport America. The wifi here was spotty at times. This place has a few stray cats and a few that belong there. The doggie pick up stations looked in good repair and stocked. They seem to have sites that are more than able to handle any sized rig. The bathrooms were only cleaned 1 time in the 5 days we were there. The trash cans were plentiful throughout the campground. The noise from the rock quarry was noticeable but not to bad. I was surprised to find them working on Sunday. Overall I would return. We camped at Bean Pot Campground in a Motorhome.

Ocean Lakes Family Campground, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

This most recent stay was good. The campground area was level, clean, and up to date. There looked to be extra concrete pads put in since our last visit. A person could really stay here year round and never leave the campground. They have everything you can think of. We made use of the basketball courts, the indoor and outdoor pools, the putt-putt course, the beach, the lakes (fishing), several bathhouses, and more. Everything we used was in good repair and good quality. The down side includes the following: This place has almost as many golf carts as people. I noticed several underage drivers. The facilities (although good quality) were lacking. There should be another pool and another basketball area. The beach was wall to wall people with barely enough room to pitch a lawn chair. Lastly, this place has a lot going for it. I will say the areas we used were clean and in good working order. We camped at Ocean Lakes Family Campground in a Campground Cabin.

Lazy Acres RV Park, Lenoir City, Tennessee

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a little more like a trailer park. There are concrete pads for each picnic table. There are spacious sites and most are very level. The water, sewer, and electricity worked well. There was enough gravel on each site. The grass was mowed but it could have used some extra weed trimming. The Internet was not working at my site. Granted, they did give me some sort of device that was supposed to boost the signal. The trees here were very small. If you had a large RV you could fit nicely in any spot. The horse shoe pit was overgrown. The playground looked deserted. There was not a pool here. The lake was a long walk away. There was a pond but it was not in service. It looked like it has severe drainage issues. The bathrooms were nice and clean. The showers were huge and clean too. There was a laundromat with plenty of machines. The garbage had to be hauled about a half a mile away. This place bordered TVA land. It was peaceful and quiet. My dog loved the walk to the lake. There was a fire ring at about 80% of the sites. The picnic table was in fair shape. A few areas could use a bit of topsoil. Overall, I would stay here again. But, if you had kids, I would skip Lazy Acers. We camped at Lazy Acres RV Park in a Motorhome.

This stay was as good as the others. Still the same things jump out such as clean bathrooms and showers. The sites are well taken care of. The overall campground was very clean. Safety is still very good. The staff here even takes the time to cut back a few trees. I saw several trees that had been taken down due to being dead or just in the way. The lack of certain things such as playgrounds, pool, and other such items are of no concern to us. We camped at Cumberland Gap National Historic Park / Wilderness Road Campground in a Motorhome.

OH! Kentucky Campground & RV Park, Berea, Kentucky

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Our 1st impression was so so. The office was closed (presently). A nice young lady greeted us and showed us to a spot. About every 3rd or 4th site sits a picnic table. There were fire rings about every 4th to 5th site. Most all sites were level. Most of the full hookup sites are occupied by year round folks. They seem to be mostly friendly. This campground has lots of trees, but yet also has some open areas. The grounds needed a good mowing. I saw at least 3 satellite dishes while I was there. There was one very friendly cat and several other cats roaming around the campground. The bathrooms were fairly clean. The laundry area had 2 machines of each and appeared to be in good repair. There was a small donut shop just a short walk away. The Walmart was just a short walk (about one half mile) away too. Noise from the road was minimal. The Wi-Fi worked well. There is not a pool or any playground equipment. Overall, this place is ok. For the price this place rocks! We camped at OH! Kentucky Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.
