Ragland Bottom COE, Sparta, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Super nice park. Would've given a perfect 10 but three major defects. Dumpsters are few and far between. Restrooms/showers were not convenient and seem to be added like an after thought, but realize this is very hilly country and they did an excellent job of utilizing what ground they have. Biggest down fall is the signage or rather the lack of. One sign telling of upcoming park road, but none at the turn. If I hadn't used Google Street View prior to our trip I would have missed the turn completely. Wife's Verizon & my ATT were both strong enough to work, as well as our att Hot Spot for the laptop. No OTA TV. Excellent waterfront site, however Labor Day weekend is not the perfect time for a quiet, peaceful setting. Boaters were eager to share their music with everyone, if you wanted it or not. Will return at a less busy time. We camped at Ragland Bottom COE in a Motorhome.

Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park, Cordele, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed a night over on our way home and was very impressed with the park as a whole. Campground was well laid out with easy in and out for our B+ with quite a few larger rigs already there. Gnats were horrific! Restrooms were well used but very clean. Would definitely stay here again if on our route. Not the best destination site for us. DW's Verizon & my ATT both came in strong and clear. Our ATT hot spot was flawless. We camped at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Had diner at Cordelias, part of the Lake Blackshear Resort & Golf Club. Totally impressed with the service, food & prices. For a place that is as fancy as this the prices were very reasonable for the excellent quality food we received.

Oscar Scherer State Park, Osprey, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Super State Park. Love the "growies" between sites. You don't even know you have neighbors. Some tight turns for large rigs. Interior roads were tight and a narrow bridge crossing a creek. Of the 5 shower houses #2 & 4 were closed for repairs/ updates. Once again the Ranger assigned us a site upon check in and we were very happy with his choice. We tend to go without reservations, never knowing how long we'll be where. Would definitely come back to this park. Decent location, super nice Rangers and terrific sites! We camped at Oscar Scherer State Park in a Motorhome.

Hart Springs campground, Bell, Florida

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We found this to be a very strange set up. We arrived just after a rain on a Wednesday afternoon. Many of the few available sites were all huge puddles. We were assigned a flooded site and were trying to maneuver between a huge puddle and still reach the electric box when the host came over and told us to park any way we wanted, then offered a higher, drier site if we would only stay one night. That made up our mind and started map searching that night. Shower house was well used but clean. Showers were very close quarters and not the best. Beautiful warm spring and nice swimming pool which are both included in the price. Would probably stay there again but only for a night over, not a destination. We camped at Hart Springs campground in a Motorhome.

LeFleurs Bluff State Park, Jackson, Mississippi

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

Our rating is based an average of an overnight stop and a couple of day stay. For an overnight stop it was really good. Very reasonable price, very close to Hwy 55 with easy in and out. For a longer stay I wouldn't recommend it. We arrived just after a heavy rain and everything seemed musty. Lots of trees and no sun made everything seem dark and dank. Our B+ was an easy fit for a sites and there were a lot of larger units everywhere. Quite a few long term'ers with some rather questionable rigs that didn't appear to be road worthy. Fills up on weekends and a reservation would be needed. We will use this again as a stop over if in the area. We camped at LeFleurs Bluff State Park in a Motorhome.

Florala City Park, Florala, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

I gave a satisfactory rating because the park is in transition from state to city and there are some maintenance issues because of it. State has pulled out the laundry facilities and slacked off on maintenance. Lake side sites were $35 while across the road were $28. All sites have water & electric, level and tree lined. Our B was the smallest camper there, about 4 other sites had 5'ers, all other sites were empty. 28 total sites. We had a beautiful lakefront site. Hope this park doesn't fall into disrepair. We camped at Florala City Park in a Motorhome.

Pickwick Dam TVA Campground, Savannah, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

One of the cleanest parks we've seen in a while. $16 with Geezer card. Level sites for our B with plenty of trees, just below the dam on the river. Campground host/manager was super nice and very accommodating. Only spent one night on our way south. Would definitely return. We camped at Pickwick Dam TVA Campground in a Motorhome.

Four Mile Creek State Park, Youngstown, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Some sites are full sun, some have shade. We were in 263. A bit of a slope, but great shade and close to the restroom & shower. Seemed strange parking on the grass and not a pad, but when in Rome, etc. The camping pass got us into Fort Niagara & Niagara Falls SP's & free parking. Would do this again in a heart beat. Nice & cool for mid-July for a mid-western couple. Got down to 46 one night. We camped at Four Mile Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Willow Bay Recreation Area, Allegheny National Forest, Bradford, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Very few electric available without reservation on a Monday night mid-July. Friendly staff gave us a choice of sites and found one that worked for the night. Very clean restrooms and a nicely maintained park as a whole. Well spaced between sites, with groves & trees. Would return. We camped at Willow Bay Recreation Area, Allegheny National Forest in a Motorhome.

Salt Fork State Park, Lore City, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Park was nice for our overnight purposes. Restrooms were clean, well used, but clean. Ample space between sites. Attendants were very friendly and helpful with discounts and all. We camped in a SportsMobile van and only required electric. Had no reservations, but did find a couple of nice sites on a Sunday night in July. Wouldn't want to spend a bunch of days here, but great for a night and not far from the interstate. We camped at Salt Fork State Park in a Motorhome.

Turkey Run State Park, Marshall, Indiana

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Knowing nothing about this park we stumbled in on a Friday just after noon and as we left early the next day the park was full. Very popular, but nice park. Plenty of sites in the full sun and plenty in the woods/shade. Park attendee assigned us a site, but it worked out fine. Facilities were very well maintained and clean. The Lodge has excellent food at very affordable prices. Camping fee for a B was $25 and a non-resident park pass was $7. Camp store was typical and nice. Never got to try the trails on this trip, but heard nothing but good things about them.We could see a couple of days here. We camped at Turkey Run State Park in a Motorhome.

Fox Ridge State Park, Charleston, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Loved this park! Gravel site with elect, but very spacious and level. Two loops, one with 50 amp service and large sites. Plenty of privacy, with trees and brush between sites, fire rings and tables for handicap. Facilities were used, but very clean. Strangest showers I've seen. Hold the handle up for water. The longer you hold it the hotter it gets. Let go of it and the water stops. But it worked. Will be back. We camped at Fox Ridge State Park in a Motorhome.

Cove Lake State Park, Caryville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Advantage: Right off I-75 for a great one night stay. Easy in and easy out. Disadvantage: Right off I-75. Constant road noise. Well maintained park, no Wi-Fi, but large spacious sites, though not much privacy. Nice restrooms and shower facilities. Highlight of the park is the restaurant Rickard Ridge BBQ. I had a sampler platter for $17 and the wife a huge baked potato and salad. We shared that meal and had lunch and dinner the next day of it. GREAT! We camped at Cove Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Fall Creek Falls State Park, Spencer, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park and a pleasant stay. The sites are pretty nice, roomy, and well spaced amid huge hemlock and pine trees. Very pretty. Restrooms/showers are terrific and very well maintained. Only stayed one night and never saw park attendant or ranger. Paid via honor system which was a bit confusing. Never had a camp fire, but saw wood for sale, but saw no way to pay for it. The falls and bridges were very pretty and interesting to see. We stayed in our van and the upper road in would be a real challenge to a big rig, in my opinion. Would definitely go back. We camped at Fall Creek Falls State Park in a Motorhome.

Florence Marina State Park, Omaha, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

A nice stop for a night over. But put me in mind of private concessionaires taking over and not really providing the needed upkeep. Some tables were the worse for the wear as was the restroom facilities. They were clean, but well used and showed it. Many pull through sites and very open. It put me in mind of a fish camp, where the guys go to fish all day, care about their catch, their boats and a good meal at days end and that's all. At $27 minus a senior discount of 20%, but add the $5 park pass totaled $26.60. Not bad, but Bluff Creek Access, a corp park, a few mile north in Alabama is gorgeous and a whole lot cheaper with the America Beautiful pass. We camped at Florence Marina State Park in a Motorhome.
