Bucktail Camping Resort, Mansfield, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a terrifically fun park for the kids. We camped here as our last stop on a 10-day camping trip and the kids did not want to leave. The facility has too many things to mention for the kids to do and all are included in the fee which seemed a little high until you see what you get with it. The rest rooms and showers were well-kept and the park was packed when we visited. The only negatives for me was the park gets very crowded to the point that you feel that there is not enough space between campers. Most of the sites were deep and narrow, not real ideal. We ended up with a site that had the sewer for our neighbor about 15' from our door. Not a huge deal, but would have preferred a little separation. And the roads are gravel so don't bother washing and waxing before coming here as you'll be leaving dirty. But that was the only negatives I could think of from a wonderful stay. My kids want to know when we are going back and I can't blame them. We camped at Bucktail Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Rivers Bend Campground, New Haven, Vermont

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is a rather small campground, and there are not a lot of activities planned at the campground, but overall it was a decent place to stay. The pool is small but was never really crowded when we were here. There is direct access to the river where you can fish, tube, canoe, or float if you want. The owners are pretty decent and they don't gouge you on prices. We'd come back again if we were ever this direction. We camped at Rivers Bend Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Country Acres Campground, Ravenna, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice, family-oriented park. The two owners are very attentive and great hosts. The campground is well-run and the facilities were very clean. There are not many full-service sites, but we made out ok for the weekend without a sewer hook-up and there are dump sites throughout the park. Overall a real nice experience rather close to home. We'll definitely be coming back. We camped at Country Acres Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Bay Shore Family Campground, Andover, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really nice private park right on Pymatuning Lake in NE Ohio. The campground is well-run with lots of activities that you'd expect at a campground like this. The pool is rather small for a campground of this size and tends to fill up pretty quick. But the mandatory "breaks" that they take every hour helps to move people along. The rest rooms and showers were very nice and clean at all times. All of the RV/trailer sites have a sewer hook-up so that was a nice feature as well. And be careful with the water pressure. It's like a fire hose, so definitely bring a pressure regulator along. We camped at Bay Shore Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Pymatuning State Park, Andover, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Ohio state parks are the best! We come here quite a bit not only for the value but the place is very well run and very clean. The VIP (Volunteers In Park) do an excellent job of keeping the place in very good shape. We have never had a bad experience here in the past year that we have visited. The new camp shop is very nice as well with some pretty decent values. Overall just a really nice state park in NE Ohio. We camped at Pymatuning State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Watkins Glen State Park, Watkins Glen, New York

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We were really looking forward to camping here and enjoying the gorge and falls, but were really disappointed with the campground overall. The restrooms/shower houses were absolutely filthy and disgusting. This campground has a lot of potential but is poorly run in my opinion. The swimming pool is very nice and large which was a plus. And the gorge and falls were really neat to see. But it gets very crowded in the campground and surrounding areas. Been there, done that, and won't be back (at least to this park). We camped at Watkins Glen State Park in a Travel Trailer.

West Branch State Park, Ravenna, Ohio

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest campgrounds and state park facilities in NE Ohio. The rest rooms and shower facilities are very modern, clean and well kept by the VIP people at the park. There is a large playground at the center of the park for the kids and they usually have activities for the kids on Saturday's. My only issue with this park is there are some sites that are not conducive to larger trailers and motor homes so if you are not familiar with the park, I'd suggest you call and ask the desk for details on the site so they can help guide you along. The reservation web site for Ohio state parks is not as reliable as it should be and we've been stuck with some pretty bad sites in the past. But there are plenty of sites that back up to the lake. We camped at West Branch State Park in a Travel Trailer.
