I should have read some of the reviews before we went to this park. The "Parking Lot Nazis" as my son called them, are out of control. They are very picky about rules, but apply them arbitrarily. It was obvious who the "regulars" were, as they got to "fudge" a little. I DO appreciate rules, as it makes for a more pleasant experience for everyone. But if you're going to enforce them, then do it across the board. But, the beach is the beach. It was pretty, the waves were nice. Not sure if we'll ever stay here again, but it wasn't a completely unpleasant experience.

Very nice campground. Clean and well patrolled, which is nice if you aren't an all-night partier. Nice sites with tables and fire rings, and plenty of room for tents. Good shade and open grass area. Great family campground. Miles and miles of bike trails. The map is a little misleading - it looks like you are closer to the water than you really are. It's a little hike to get down to the lake. But it's still a nice spot, and the fishing is okay. Nice weekend getaway!

I love the Kern River: but this was a horrible experience. There was a "camp host" who never left their own trailer. There was a group partying ALL NIGHT with a generator and very loud music, yelling, fighting, etc. No one did a thing about it, and we didn't get any sleep at all. That aside, the only really shady spots are right on the river. Right around spot 21 is nice. But the river is great. I won't tent camp here again. Definitely bringing the trailer next time.
