Salt Lake City KOA, Salt Lake City, Utah

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This was an overnight stay for which we were assigned a large, level and paved pull-through site very close to the restrooms and the dog park. Easy to reach from the freeway. Lots of trees and therefore I question whether one would receive satellite reception which we did not try for the one night stay. Wi-Fi was very good. We camped at Salt Lake City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a nice public path along the Jordan River accessible through a gate at the far end of the RV park where one can walk the dogs to an off-leash dog park.

Canyons of Escalante RV Park, Escalante, Utah

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Sites are somewhat short and narrow and not level but adequate for short stays. We used outdoor rugs to cover the bare ground next to our trailer thereby limiting the amount of dirt which our dogs carried into our trailer.

We asked for and were assigned a site with good satellite reception. Wi-Fi was good and much better than at many major RV parks we have stayed in during this trip. Very strong water pressure and good quality water. Jason at the office gave us helpful advice and maps to explore this beautiful area. We camped at Canyons of Escalante RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Las Vegas RV Resort , Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 4th time here. We were assigned a nice pull through site so we did not have to unhitch our trailer. This is a clean park with friendly staff. The WiFi worked well for us and there several TV channels available over the air. The dog runs are a bit small for our Labrador Retrievers but adequate for short term stays. We camped at Las Vegas RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Destiny RV Resort / Phoenix West, Goodyear, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 3 nights. Daily rate is after Good Sam discount including $3 power add-on. We were assigned #185, a so-called "premium site". It was not level, the pavement is broken up, the power pedestal is damaged and the insulation on the 30 amp. receptacle is partly broken, and the site is next to the entrance and therefore exposed to all traffic noise. Not premium in our book. Also, WiFi is not provided by the park and one has to sign up with Tengo Internet, with whom we have had only poor experiences.

We had stayed in this park several years ago when it was in better shape and we had the same size lot away from the entrance without having to pay for a "premium" site. This time: overall - poor value. We camped at Destiny RV Resort / Phoenix West in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a field to the north of the park where one can exercise large dogs. However, they are likely to pick up thorns in their pads.

Fortuna De Oro RV Park (55+), Yuma, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

Rate is prorated monthly rate. This is our 8th stay at this park. Most spaces are about 35 x 50 feet. Huge improvement over the last two years as new owner has invested heavily in multi sports complex, baseball field and numerous general upgrades. It is also much cleaner than in the past. Countless activities and events - at no or minimal additional cost. Various participatory sporting events / competitions held this year. Much more dog friendly than in the past having opened up two very large and pleasant dog runs with water fountain, jump hoop etc. and clean-up bags provided. No cable TV, but can be ordered for long-term stays. WiFi is free but service very sporadic except at office. We camped at Fortuna De Oro RV Park (55+) in a Travel Trailer.

Mountain Shadows RV Park, Wells, Nevada

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This RV Park does not provide many amenities but is perfectly adequate for a stop-over. Our pull-through lot was level with very good, free WiFi and large selection of cable TV channels. All lots are gravel. There is a field behind the park where I could exercise my Labrador Retrievers off-leash. We could hear the whistle of the occasional freight train passing nearby. However, freeway noise was almost not audible. Good freeway access. We camped at Mountain Shadows RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Las Vegas RV Resort , Las Vegas, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean park, friendly staff, nice common room with large TV and free coffee. We had a standard lot which is 100% paved, no vegetation of any kind. Rate reflects Good Sam discount and local taxes. Pull-through (deluxe) sites are larger and generally nicer. WiFi was good in the mornings and not so good in the evenings when the long-term residents were in. We could not get any TV channels from our onboard roof antenna on our HD TV. We used our satellite dish instead. This was our second stay and we will stay here again. Speed bumps are numerous and very annoying since they shake up your vehicle and trailer even at less than the posted speed limit. We camped at Las Vegas RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park, Coalinga, California

Date of Stay: January, 2010 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects Good Sam discount. This park is conveniently located to I-5 with virtually no traffic noise. One can exercise the dogs in adjacent orchard. Sites are long but very narrow leaving little room between slides of neighboring sites. Also this park is run down: shower doors full of rust, the shower controls not working properly, the knob of a light timer missing making it unusable, no place to put shaving kit etc. when using the sinks, only one small heater in the men's shower / restroom making it uncomfortable (outside temp. 39 degrees). Only one toilet stall in men's restroom. Wi-Fi is free for 30 minutes only; $4 per day after that. Should be included in the rate one has to pay compared to other sites in better condition than this one. We are not returning to this place in its current condition. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Mountain Gate RV Park, Redding, California

Date of Stay: January, 2010 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean and well kept; friendly staff. Surprisingly little highway traffic noise despite being very close to it. Easy to park in the dark since ample light and good access to pull-through sites. A free light Continental breakfast offered from 8 a.m. - a nice touch! Dogs can be exercised just outside RV park next to fenced off I-5. We will return. We camped at Mountain Gate RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Phoenix RV Park, Salem, Oregon

Date of Stay: January, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Very clean and well kept; friendly staff. Convenient location to many different shops including Wal-Mart. Little traffic noise from local streets. Nice enclosure for dogs to relieve themselves but no large area to exercise them other than walking them around the RV park on a leash. We arrived in the dark and pouring rain. The lighting is poor at the sites and there are bushes interfering with the extension of slides which made it difficult to park our trailer properly. We got soaked manoeuvrings our trailer into the spot to allow for our slide to extend and our steps to not end at a wet, muddy spot (tire marks in the water logged grass from a previous user). We did not use their cable, water or sewer (still winterized and staying just one night). We camped at Phoenix RV Park in a Travel Trailer.
