Hart Ranch Camping Resort, Rapid City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a membership RV park. Very large with a huge amount of amenities. Very clean and the grounds are well maintained. A tad expensive for just traveling through since we didn't have time to utilize the amenities. Would certainly stay again. My only negative comment is that all the sites are back-in. We camped at Hart Ranch Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Sleepy Hollow RV Park, Wall, South Dakota

Overall Rating:

Convenient location to Wall Drug - easy walking distance. The owners and assistants were very nice and helpful. The restrooms and showers were very clean. This is a good place to stay around Wall and the Badlands. Would certainly stay there again. We camped at Sleepy Hollow RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Alderwood RV Express, Mead, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Very rude man at reception that could not wait to leave for the day (at 5:30 mind you). The site was the narrowest I have ever come across. On top of the narrowness, the trees were overgrown and unmaintained. I was unable to fully extend my slides. In fact, I had to crawl under the tree branches on river rock to hook up. I drove 8 miles through heavy congestion and construction to get to this supposedly Premier RV Resort. Nothing premier about the place. I assume that since there is a dinky pool, that qualifies as a resort? The men's bathroom was terrible. Moldy shower stalls and floors. It looked like no maintenance had been performed for years. Do not stay at this location! I rated this place a 2 simply because it has a McDonald's across the street. We camped at Alderwood RV Express in a Fifth Wheel.

Ponderosa Falls RV Resort , Cheney, Washington

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is a membership park that allows non-members (me) to stay if there are open spaces. Overall, this is a very well maintained facility with numerous amenities. I did find out that this is the nicest park in the KM system. I would certainly stay there again. The rate I paid reflects a Good Sam discount (which I was surprised to receive). However, they charge an electricity usage per night - in this case $2.17 during a cool period so I did not need to run the A/C. We camped at Ponderosa Falls RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Cheyenne KOA, Cheyenne, Wyoming

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

I normally bypass KOA parks because of their high rates. We chose this KOA based on the recommendation of the first park we went to that was full. This park is extremely well maintained. I have nothing but praise for the condition and layout of the park. After seeing the other parks in the Cheyenne are, This is where I would stay as my first pick. The rate I paid includes tax and a credit for not hooking up to their sewer. We camped at Cheyenne KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

High Plains Camping, Oakley, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Overall a good park. Very windy. The owners are nice with good senses of humor. They are located right next to the very good Colonial Steakhouse if you are looking for a good meal. The actual RV site was satisfactory - nothing to write home about. However, the condition of the rest of the park amenities was excellent. The pool and hot tubs were in good repair. I would not hesitate to stay there again. We camped at High Plains Camping in a Fifth Wheel.

Mio Pine Acres Campground, Mio, Michigan

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for two nights. The owners are fairly new but the park is not. There is a lot of needed upkeep to the sites and buildings as they seem to have been let go in anticipation of the sale. The owners are pleasant. The park is OK if you use it only for an overnight stop or a base for activities as we did. You really do not have many options in this part of Michigan as it is far from major thoroughfares. The park has promise if the owners spend the time and money to bring the place up to what it could be. We camped at Mio Pine Acres Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We were fortunate to get a site since we did not have reservations. This is a nice park for families. Lots to do, several pools and even a flowing river feature. Well maintained. Highly recommend if you have a family. We camped at Suncrest RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Portland Fairview RV Park, Fairview, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This was my second stay. The office staff was very nice, knowledgeable, and friendly. It appears that some of the pads have been updated. Very level with good access. This is a very popular park in NE Portland and was nearly full during my stay even this late in the year. Wi-Fi worked better this year. The only negative I have to say is that the cable TV degraded once the heavy rains started. Might have been my connections but I was not going out in the deluge to check. I will definitely return but will make sure that I reserve a place next time. I was almost turned away even though I checked in at 3:30. We camped at Portland Fairview RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Highway 81 RV Park, Columbus, Nebraska

Gravel lot park right next to highway. No cable TV or WiFi. We stayed 3 nights using this as a central point. Satisfactory stop over spot. Lots of highway noise, no restrooms, and about 3 miles from town. We camped at Highway 81 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Days End Campground, Sturgis, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Good for a single night. A bit too much freeway noise. Office staff seemed more interested in selling gift items than informing me of the WiFi access, cable TV channel listings, location of the restrooms, providing a park layout sheet, etc. I would look for a quieter park next time. We camped at Days End Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Camp A Way, Lincoln, Nebraska

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Site was fairly level. Wi-Fi and cable were excellent. Hosts were very friendly. Were here on the weekend of a college football game but there was no rowdiness. Campground location is right next to the freeway so there was some noise. There appeared to be some very, very long term residents at some adjacent sites given the semi permanent nature of their sites. Would stay here again if I was in Lincoln. We camped at Camp A Way in a Fifth Wheel.

Camp on the Heart, Dickinson, North Dakota

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Average facility. The WiFi was only functional at the deck adjacent to the office. Our 37' long fifth wheel and truck did not completely fit into the pull through site. Fortunately the sites are wide enough to allow us to park at a diagonal and make do. There is a RR track very close nearby with very loud trains that interrupted our sleep. The hosts were OK but not overly friendly. There was no escort to the site. The sewer connection drain holes are crushed 2 liter plastic pop bottles. Somewhat uneven sites. In a pinch stay here, but you might want to look elsewhere if you have the time. We camped at Camp on the Heart in a Fifth Wheel.
