Pecan Grove RV Resort, Chickasha, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is an update from a previous review. We stayed here again in 2015 and will assure everything we had to say before is accurate. The owners made changes to our previous suggestions and have made this park one of the nicest in the country. You will need reservations for overnight stays in advance as they have limited sites for overnight guests. Hosts are super nice. We camped at Pecan Grove RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Red Cedar RV Park, Bolivar, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Small park behind a motel complex. Site very level. Restrooms need to be sanitized - showers grungy. Host was polite, but registration area reeked of cigarette smoke. Good place to stay for one night. There is a great family restaurant near downtown Bolivar. We camped at Red Cedar RV Park in a Motorhome.

Illinois State Fair Campgrounds, Springfield, Illinois

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park for 2 nights while visiting some of the Lincoln historic sites. We were fortunate that the park was fairly empty and we had a choice of our sites. It was difficult to level the coach because of the slant of the site, but, after blocking we were successful. The sites had full 30 amp service, water and sewer. The restrooms are spartan and showers are typical campground. Good place to stay overall. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Would stay again. We camped at Illinois State Fair Campgrounds in a Motorhome.

F.W. Kent Park, Oxford, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed one night on our way from MN to Springfield, IL. This is a very nice park and we had the pick of the sites as there were very few people staying here. We stayed in the site next to the handicap site and it was very level and easy to back into with our motorhome. We did check out the showers, but, they were not the best - very little privacy and nowhere to set bottles of shampoo, etc. This is usual for state park campgrounds versus a private rv park. Good value. We camped at F.W. Kent Park in a Motorhome.

Lewis and Clark Recreation Area, Yankton, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park but I can imagine it would be noisy during the summer time. We stayed one night in September and had the pick of the sites overlooking the river. It is very quiet, but provided only electricity at the site - no water or sewer. It is fairly overpriced for the amenities it offers, except the view. We probably would stay again - but only in the off season. We camped at Lewis and Clark Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Franklin's Big Country RV Park, Abilene, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Good for overnight only. This is a park part of an RV service and sales business. They have a front and back area for overnight use. Looks like some sites are filled with full time oil workers or other people. While they have full service, the sites are gravel and can be muddy after a rain. They claim they have free Wi-Fi, but nothing worked, so cannot rate them very good on that. We might stay there again but there are no shower/restroom facilities available. Not an RV park per se, but one step better than the WalMart parking lot. We camped at Franklin's Big Country RV Park in a Motorhome.

Western Star RV Ranch, Liberal, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This park is outside of Liberal about 5 miles to the east. It basically is a flat gravel covered park with drive-through sites. It has no trees, and the hostess was not on site until after 5 PM. The Wi-Fi did not work at all. They advertise free Wi-Fi, but obviously they have issues. The shower rooms were unisex and only 2 available. They were clean but not spotless. We probably would stay again, but I doubt that we will ever go through western Kansas again. It's fly-over country for sure. We camped at Western Star RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Kearney RV Park and Campground, Kearney, Nebraska

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

If you like hearing interstate highway noise all night then this is the place to come. While the site had a nice cement pad the closeness to the interstate negates any positives about this park. It is very overpriced, WiFi that does not work and while the restrooms were clean, there were not enough of them (only 2 unisex rooms that you had to wait in line in the morning to utilize). Would not stay here again. We camped at Kearney RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Victorian Acres Campground, Nebraska City, Nebraska

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed in this park on an overnight basis many times and found it to be a nice park. The owners have updated the restrooms and showers to make them very clean. The park has good amenities for people traveling with children and the area does have a great Lewis and Clark museum near the park. We would stay here again. We camped at Victorian Acres Campground in a Motorhome.

Pecan Grove RV Resort, Chickasha, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is probably the nicest park on Hwy 81. It is a fairly new park and still has very nice amenities. The owners/hosts were very friendly and helpful. Most of the sites are occupied by folks associated with the oil business in the area. They do have some permanent guests and a few open sites for overnighters. We were surprised how clean the restrooms and showers were. The owners keep this park quiet and clean. The only reason we did not give them a perfect rating was the fact that they lock the restrooms overnight and do not open them until 7 AM. For people traveling, restrooms should be open all night and early in the morning, at least by 6 AM. This problem could be solved by placing a code type lock on the facilities. Also, the lights on the inside of the restrooms were on a timer that only lasted about 2 minutes. A motion detector turns them back on, but if you are in a stall and the lights go out the sensors do not sense motion unless you are outside the stall. Sensors should also be over the stalls to keep lights on. We definitely will stay here again and hopefully our comments will assist the owners to make minor changes in their restroom facilities. We camped at Pecan Grove RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Kentucky Horse Park Campground, Lexington, Kentucky

Overall Rating:

Typical large campground. Bathrooms/showers not the cleanest because of so many people using them. Easy access to the Horse Park. WiFi is $10 charged by the week: if it works. Noisy during the weekends. Probably wouldn't stay here again. We camped at Kentucky Horse Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Fort Richardson State Historical Park, Jacksboro, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Great state park. Sites are all paved and for the most part level. We were given the camp host site as there were very few people in the park - very quiet and clean. Close to town, but remote. Plenty of wildlife in area. Nice not to have to smell campfires because of burning ban. No Wi-Fi. We definitely would stay here again. We camped at Fort Richardson State Historical Park in a Motorhome.

Ross Camp, West Lafayette, Indiana

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice little county park. We were the only occupants in the park. Very clean restrooms and it was patrolled by deputy during the evening. Very quiet and would highly recommend this park for overnight or multiple days. It is outside of the city a ways so stock up on food and fuel before heading to the park. Good base camp for activities in the area. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Ross Camp in a Motorhome.

Deer Grove RV Park, El Dorado, Kansas

Date of Stay: July, 2012 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Good park for an overnight stay. Mostly a full time park with mostly roustabouts from the oil companies. Quiet during the week, but weekends might be noisier. Only a camphost on site. No real site designations - rigs are side by side and in some cases back to back. Surprisingly the showers were clean, but very hot inside building. Probably would stay again, but make a call before arriving for securing a site. We camped at Deer Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.
