Date of Stay:

The access road into the campground is very very steep. If you are hauling a large camper you will need a strong vehicle to exit the campground. The campground has mostly seasonal campers, very few transient sites. There are very nice waterfront sites, but those are taken by the seasonal campers, most which have permenant structures around them. There is a very nice playground for small children. The staff is friendly and helpful. I was expecting something different than I found from my research on their web site. It is doubtful that I will camp there again.

Date of Stay:

We camped at Ocean Lakes for 9 nights. We only had camped in small Maine campgrounds and State Parks prior to this trip. We were not sure we would enjoy such a large campground with so many people and pets around. What we found there was a beautiful, well maintained, very clean park. Security was visible and all staff we encountered were polite and helpful. Our concerns about feeling crowded were unfounded. There was very little people or pet noise pollution, most of the time we thought we were the only ones in the park it was so quiet. We did not rent a golf cart as we prefer to walk while seeing the sights and people watching, although during the summer months a golf cart would be a plus due to the heat. No matter where you are in the park it is a reasonable walk to the beach, pool, store and for an ice cream cone. The park is right on the beach so you could always feel the ocean breeze, and with a short walk you could dip your toes in the surf. Our lot, 3077 had a concrete pad, it was a little tight getting on and off, but not unreasonable or difficult. We will definitely go back again, I would like to make it a spring ritual.
