Coffee Creek RV Resort, Santo, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2012 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Great CG just north of I-20 at exit 386, then north on Hwy 281 for one mile. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Appreciate the business. Office has ladies clothes and jewelry for sale, also popcorn, ice cream and small RV section. Escort to site, which is level gravel with some grass but no picnic tables or grills at sites. There are a number of buildings which have clean, private bathrooms with individual showers. Pool and hot tub, exercise room, gathering room, volleyball, horseshoe pits, playground, dog wash area, cabins for rent. Three lines for Wi-Fi - worked fine. Verizon and satellite reception good. Would stay here again. Price reflects Passport America discount - and they are also a Good Sam CG. We camped at Coffee Creek RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally, Anthony, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2012 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a generous rating, based on our needs for a large pull-through, level, gravel site, near I-10 (between exits 0 and 2), but if you're looking for grass and campground amenities, keep looking. The lady at check in was mostly interested in enforcing the 7 mph rule. There was dog waste at our site, as stated by another reviewer. Campground is essentially a parking lot, near Camping World, with a Flying J at exit 0, and a Wet n Wild nearby for the kids. And don't forget Saddleblanket, the store for boots, blankets, and western furniture (in the annex out back), within a half hour east, on I-10. Campground is acceptable for a pass through, overnight stay since the sites are long enough that you don't have to unhook the towed car. We would stay again when passing through El Paso. We camped at Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally in a Motorhome.

Mountain View RV Park, Bowie, Arizona

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

CG is a parking lot behind a gas station at the west end of town, Price reflects Passport America discount. Train tracks are right behind CG, and the trains do run through the night but the sirens are blasted about a mile away at the other end of town. Free Wi-Fi is excellent, Verizon and AT&T cellphones and satellite reception is fine. Sites are level gravel, and long enough to keep towed attached. There are no picnic tables or grills available. This is acceptable for a stopover, but you may want to use the ear plugs. We camped at Mountain View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mission RV Park, El Paso, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

Located off I-10 at Exit 34, but we missed the blue camping sign and street sign, and drove in a circle - Just go up the side street near Chevron. Friendly staff - recommended Cowboy Steakhouse back at exit 49 and well worth a stop there - good food & service and much to see and do. CG was crowded and sites are level gravel, but pretty close together. Picnic table but no grill at each site. Free Wi-Fi is good, likewise for Verizon air card and satellite reception. Although we were assigned to the front of the CG near the Chevron station, it was quiet at night, and we felt safe with guard security at gate. Price reflects Good Sam discount, and we would stay here again. We camped at Mission RV Park in a Motorhome.

Midessa Oil Patch RV Park, Odessa, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Very crowded CG, easy access from I-20. Price reflects Good Sam 10% discount. Escort to sites. Many permanent folks who work in the oil fields. Sites are level, gravel and close to each other. Have to unhook the towed car but there is a parking spot for your car next to site. Picnic tables, but no grills on sites. Plenty to do in town, less than 10 miles away, including movie theaters, Wallyworld, and all the stores. Petroleum and Air Force Museums nearby. Free CG Wi-Fi fair, Verizon air card acceptable. Satellite reception fine. At this time, the CG water is not for consumption due to an inspection by authorities, and a case of bottled water is given to you when you check in. Water is fine for showering and dish washing, per authorities. Had no problem with that, as we never drink CG water anyway. Would stay here again. We camped at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park in a Motorhome.

Solid Rock RV Park (formerly North Shore RV Park), Eastland, Texas

Overall Rating:

Very quiet campground, 5 miles south of I-20 @ exit 349. Long pull through sites, gravel and fairly level. Excellent free wi-fi, satellite reception good. Poor Verizon service, AT&T OK. Campground is adjacent to Lake Leon with boat ramp; golf course, pool and gym next door at golf club - did not visit. Only a few other RVs here. Would stay again. We camped at Solid Rock RV Park (formerly North Shore RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Galveston Bay RV Resort & Marina, Dickinson, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2012 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Really nice RV park, off the beaten path. Level, cement pads, small trees, some grass, good satellite and air card reception. No picnic tables or grills on site. Stayed in site 72, right on the bay, with great sunset views. Staff friendly and helpful. Would be a "10" if there was a pool, which is under construction. We camped at Galveston Bay RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Price reflects Good Sam discount. Great RV park, right off I-10 at exit 115, about 40 miles west of Baton Rouge. Nice staff, escort to site, which is a level, concrete pad. Picnic table at site, no grill. Two pools, hot tub, mini-golf, fishing ponds, small water park for the kids, playground, volleyball court. Some grass and small trees. Steep downhill entry into CG - had to stay in first gear. Many Speed Bumps. Tree-filled area - could not get satellite reception, and very limited air card reception. Small CG easy access from Gatlinburg. Sites set up essentially in inner or outer oval. Some grass, concrete pads, picnic tables. Acceptable reception from Verizon phone, air card, and Wi-Fi. Staff great and very helpful with guiding you into your site. Clean, newer bathrooms and showers. About 50% capacity, with about half big-rigs. No pool, but much to do in the area. Long Beach RV Resort, Barnegat, New Jersey

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

CG is 4 miles off Exit 63 of GS Pkwy, on 72 West. Gravel roads and site. Heavy rains drained well on our site. Wi-Fi avail for a fee from Tengonet - did not use. Fair service from Verizon air card. We had a problem with electric, and the staff was great - very attentive, helpful - couldn't do more for us. Spent hours with us - didn't want to take $$, but we insisted. Nice pool, mini golf, honey wagon avail - no sewer at sites. CG would rate a 10 if it had concrete pads and slightly wider interior roads which are winding and lined with trees. Would stay there again. We camped at Long Beach RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Americamps RV Resort, Ashland, Virginia

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Easy access of I-95 at Exit 89. Staff couldn't be nicer. Level concrete pads with picnic tables and some grass. TA fuel stop also at exit. CG has store and propane. Free Wi-Fi is good, but Sprint air card is better. Would rate higher, but for the highway noise, although with windows closed, we were able to sleep. Would stay here again. We camped at Americamps RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Apache Family Campground & Pier, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Huge campground along the ocean. Initial sites seem to be for year round residents. Back spots for visitors, some pull through-mostly small but ours (P-19) was a corner site and the largest. Tight turns but doable, as cars parked in front of rigs. Each site had a picnic table, with some grass around. Area is very sandy - seems to get everywhere. Wi-fi $9.95 per day (!) but connected immediately without need to sign up with password. Cellphones worked fine - Verizon & AT&T. Receive tickets for pier at check in. Price reflects AAA discount. Would stay here again. We camped at Apache Family Campground & Pier in a Motorhome.

Mr. Z's RV Park, Gilbert, South Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2011 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

Small RV Park about 7 miles from I-20. New owners, very friendly and helpful, and live on site. Eleven sites, 8 are 30 amp, 3 are 50 amp. Five are pull throughs. Sites sandy and we needed wood blocks with the rain, but no noticeable pooling of water anywhere. Had to change from the 50 amp pull through, due to no satellite reception because of the trees. Gave the levels a good workout to straighten out the coach. Price reflects Passport America discount. Very quiet: no trains. Would stay here again. We camped at Mr. Z's RV Park in a Motorhome.
