I-65 RV Campground, Creola, Alabama

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This place has more shade than any campground I have seen. Live oaks with Spanish moss make sites attractive and shaded. This is not what anyone would call a resort but I like to use it for overnight stays on my way to another location. Many of the campers are full-timers as with most campgrounds on the Gulf Coast. Overall this is a decent place. We camped at I-65 RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Baton Rouge KOA, Denham Springs, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This KOA has been a favorite in the area for a while. I had not been there for a while and was surprised by the Chang's. A flood two years ago killed many trees. However, the campground replaced their concrete pads and installed new hookups. All was done well. In an area where most campgrounds are filled with workers who follow distasters, this KOA remains a family campground. A large pool and miniature golf course are popular. We did have a problem with a group of 10 to 12 year old boys hanging out in an empty site next to us. All were noisy and one urinated in front of my wife and me. I chased them off and got a lot of lip for it. I did report this to the managers and they dealt with the problem in a satisfactory manner. We will be back. We camped at Baton Rouge KOA in a Motorhome.

Charleston KOA, Ladson, South Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We were in town for a funeral so we did not check out the amenities. Our site was roomy and well shaded as were most. The only concern was the entrance to the campground. You have to drive through a dumpy trailer park to get to the office. I was concerned that the entire campground would look lake that. It did not. I would stay there again. We camped at Charleston KOA in a Motorhome.

Mill Creek Resort, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: December, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very average campground. There is nothing attractive about it. Campsites are narrow and have no shade. Basically it is a gravel lot with small campsites. While this is typical for Pigeon Forge, I dislike it very much. The people in the office were nice. My extended family used the rec room for meals and Christmas activities. That worked well. We camped at Mill Creek Resort in a Motorhome.

Magnolia RV Park and Campground, Kinards, South Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped by here for one night in our way home. The management was not interested in service. They stuck us in the smallest site with no sewer even though better sites were available. We had to disconnect our car to maneveur to the site. In doing that, I dropped the tow bar on my foot and broke a bone. The man waiting in the golf cart did not ask if I was ok. He just huffed and puffed because I was slow. He then yelled at my wife for pulling our car into the wrong space. I will not be returning. We camped at Magnolia RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Cherokee / Great Smokies KOA, Cherokee, North Carolina

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This is a large campground with many sites. Even still, it was attractive, safe, and pleasant. The kid running the desk (20ish) was condescending to me (60ish) but that was the only negative for the entire stay. As with all KOAs, a cart driver led me to the site and helped position my RV. I chose a back in site to be on the river. That was a nice added benefit. WiFi was good but I needed a booster. I did not use the cable TV. KOA campgrounds can be fairly basic but this one was nice. It's too bad that kid was rude so I could not rate this as a 10. We camped at Cherokee / Great Smokies KOA in a Motorhome.

Stone Mountain Park Campground, Stone Mountain, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The campground is scenic and easy to access. Some of the sites are small but if you make your reservations by phone, the staff will help you to choose a good site. They are friendly and very anxious to be helpful. The entertainment features at the park are numerous, much more than I remembered from 20 years ago. We should have stayed there for two full days to do everything my grandkids wanted to do. We had fun. Campsites are very well shaded and convenient to park shuttle buses. I look forward to returning. We camped at Stone Mountain Park Campground in a Motorhome.

Being near Atlanta, there is no limit to entertainment, shopping, and restaurants. The mistake we made was not having enough time to see everything within the Stone Mountain Park. Our grandchildren did not want to leave. I am looking forward to taking them back.

Boone KOA, Boone, North Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This park is small in every way a park can be. Few sites, small sites, and congested traffic. Sites are poorly leveled and not well cleaned between campers. When we arrived, a children's day camp was ending for the day and parents were parked everywhere to pick up kids. During the day, the playground was not open to my grandchildren. The office was covered up with non-campers and there was no place to park. Is this a campground or a kindergarten? They are doing a poor job of trying to be both. The view is nice and the location is convenient to Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I would go back there if I could not find anything else. The sites are small, too small for an RV and a tow vehicle. My Class C fit in the site but the Class A that pulled in later could not get around my car and it could not fit into the assigned site. They left. If you stay, be prepared to get friendly with your neighbors. They will be close. We camped at Boone KOA in a Motorhome.

Travelers Rest / N Greenville KOA, Travelers Rest, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here one night on our way to another destination. I have stayed at many KOAs and generally find them to be adequate but nothing special. This one is special. The setting is beautiful. The campground is small so there is no congestion. Many of the sites are small and there are only 2 pull-through sites. The couple who owns the campground go out of their way to be friendly and helpful, even providing their private cell number if you have a problem. I want to go back and spend more time here. We camped at Travelers Rest / N Greenville KOA in a Motorhome.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

This is simply the best campground that I have ever seen. It is exceptionally clean and well serviced. A visit to Disney is not complete without taking a day off from the parks and enjoying the amenities of the campground including playgrounds, pools, horses, and live entertainment. While visiting the parks, you can park your vehicle and use Disney transportation to anywhere you want to go. Many sites have been recently enlarged to accommodate big rigs. Most sites are private enough because they have many trees. My favorite loop is 1100 but others are equally good. I have stayed in this campground at least 10 times and 3 of those have been in the past 10 months. I would not consider another campground in the Central Florida area. We camped at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

Baton Rouge KOA, Denham Springs, Louisiana

Date of Stay: January, 2009 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed at this KOA 3 times, each time for a week or longer. As others have suggested, this is not a campground that you choose for the destination alone. However, if you need a place to stay near Baton Rouge, this is the only choice we have found. We looked at every other campground in the Baton Rouge area and we will go back to this one again. It is quiet; the people are friendly; everything works or it is repaired immediately. Almost every site is a pull-through. The biggest problem we found was that heavy traffic coming out of Baton Rouge makes it difficult to get to the campground between 4 and 6 pm. I would love to find a more attractive campground closer to Baton Rouge but it does not exist. We camped at Baton Rouge KOA in a Travel Trailer.
