Carpinteria State Beach, Carpinteria, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $80.00
Overall Rating:

This park has deteriorate from the beautiful beach rv and camping park it once was. Due to either shortage of State money or lack of rainfall, the trees and shrubs are almost gone at the beach sites. Even at that, these sites on "beach row" are very hard to reserve 6 months in advance. The good part of this location, is that it is very close to the town of Carpinteria and makes it easy to frequent restaurants, stores and activities. Recently the park administration re-numbered the 3 main parts of the campgrounds designating 100, 200 and 300 numbers so users could understand quickly what sites were where. We camped at Carpinteria State Beach in a Motorhome.

Avila / Pismo Beach KOA, San Luis Obispo, California

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This park surprised us because it appears you are surrounded by trees and forest type areas. However, knowing that Avila Beach and the ocean was on the other side of the mountain, we started exploring and found the Bob Jones Trail, which is a 2.5 mile walking/bicycle path leading to the town of Avila and the Port San Luis. So convenient for travelers to have easy access to sites and restaurants, etc. so close by. The reason we were there was the RV parks, whether private or public in nearby Pismo Beach were all filled up for the Columbus Day long weekend. The closest to the beaches and with vacancies was a stroke of luck for us. We found the Avila Valley Barn, a farmers type market across the road from the RV park and enjoyed it very much. Now this KOA RV park will be a regular stop for us. We camped at Avila / Pismo Beach KOA in a Motorhome.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park, West Yellowstone, Montana

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

One of the BEST parks we've stayed at. Office staff overly willing to make our stay as good as it gets. So close to town, we were able to walk everywhere for discovery and got in exercise too. Staff has great suggestions for everything you might want to do. Stayed here at start of season in May 2010 so accommodations easy, but understand 100% occupancy in peak season. Area great for hiking and fishing. If in the area, you have to stay here. We camped at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ponderosa Campground, Cody, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Wonderful campground close to all the attractions of the Town of Cody, WY. Walking distance to most shops, dining and entertainment. Wild Bill Cody Historical Museum very close. The staff is the best ever we have encountered in our travels. They bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. Best ever gift shop on premises. Staff made many calls for road conditions to assure our safe travel to Yellowstone National Park. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

Mount Rushmore KOA, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Great RV Camping park. Went in May so lots of availability. Close to Mt Rushmore Memorial. Suggest registration staff notify new guests about freeze alerts for water faucets into RV's so hoses and valves don't get damaged. We camped at Mount Rushmore KOA in a Motorhome.

Sheridan / Big Horn Mountains KOA, Sheridan, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly staff gave us good advice as to continuing on to Cody,WY via I-90/Hwy 72 to Cody instead of Hwy 14, 16 or 20 with its many switchbacks. No stress, easy terrain and excellent roads. We camped at Sheridan / Big Horn Mountains KOA in a Motorhome.

McArthur's Temple View RV Resort, St George, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This park is very nice and located near stores, business, restaurants and services. However, I noticed that this park had many open spaces, but it seems if you just stopped in for a night, they put you in an area that wasn't the most appealing. We camped at McArthur's Temple View RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Winchester Bay RV Resort, Winchester Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful RV Park. The 360 degree scenery is so great. You see the Marina, forest, Umqua River and ocean. Walking distance to lots of restaurants in the area. You don't see this park traveling the 101 Highway so you just have to stop in there to see for yourself. You'll need more than an overnight stay to appreciate. Great sunsets! We camped at Winchester Bay RV Resort in a Motorhome.

San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA, Petaluma, California

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $68.00
Overall Rating:

Rest rooms need re-conditioning. They are getting old and need sprucing up. Dark and dingy and need more lighting. If one has children, this is a great park, but if its just you and the spouse, it can be very loud with children programs and karaoke singing until 9:30 p.m. Prices quite high compared to so many other comparable parks. We camped at San Francisco North / Petaluma KOA in a Motorhome.

One of the newest campgrounds we stayed at on this trip. Very, very nice park with sites away from highway noise. The Club Room is large and accommodating. The staff is so helpful and great to talk with. Many river sites on premises. A must when traveling in Northern California. We camped at Durango RV Resort in a Motorhome.
