America's Best Campground, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This park was OK, but certainly not the "BEST." Lots of little things overlooked that could make site much better. Shower curtains mildewed, dirty grout, loose toilet seats and locks that don't work on shower stalls. No place to sit or hang anything in the shower except two small hooks on the door, which doesn't work if the door does not lock. The crazy thing is that they have a padlock on the handicapped shower stall and won't let anyone use it. Since there were only two other showers, it would be better to let others use the third shower instead of having to wait. The weird thing also is that they will not accept any dollar coins, which you gets lots of at Silver Dollar City. They said they don't consider them "legal" tender. Mostly, an inconvenience for guests, and they don't want to deal with the coins. It would be nice if they had a little more knowledge about the shows, too. They have lots of posters up, but not much information other than brochures. We camped at America's Best Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Silver Creek Luxury RV Resort, Mears, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second time we have camped here. This campground is very close to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes and Lake Michigan. It is one the nicest and cleanest places we have camped in nearly 20 years of camping! All roads are paved, the concrete pad is huge and surrounded by thick, lush green grass. The showers are "just like home" and the staff is very helpful and friendly. It would be nice to have more trees, but since this campground is new, most of the trees are still young. I wish all campgrounds were like this one! We camped at Silver Creek Luxury RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Oak Grove Campground / Resort, Holland, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

We made reservations for this campground based on the high rating it received in Woodalls. We were very disappointed. We arrived about 6:30 p.m. on a Wednesday night and the office was already closed for the night. The web site advertised grassy sites, but the site we were assigned was very small and was nothing but mud and dirt. The site was barely long enough to hold our trailer (our hitch was at the edge of the road), and there was no room to park our van. Even with using an RV rug, it would have been a mess for our small children and dog. We were told by the site host that the other open sites (which were much better) were already reserved. I did not want to pay $53 to camp in the dirt. We ended up leaving that night to go elsewhere. We camped at Oak Grove Campground / Resort in a Travel Trailer.
