I wish I had done more research on this campground before booking but our original travel plans fell through and we had kids who were anxious to travel. We booked S and H because Good Sam rated them highly but boy were we disappointed. The family fun park is only open on the weekends. The mini golf was about the only fun thing to do. The pool was OK - not heated and full of smokers even though the first pool rule states "no smoking". Lots of permanent trailers. Bathrooms in the front of the park were cleaned but we're very run down and in need of updating. On the 2nd day of our stay storms came through and literally flooded half the campground. Mini golf was underwater as were several roads. No one ever came around to check on us. It rained on and off the rest of our stay and all the amenities were unusable. We decided to leave on the 5th day and all our trash was still bagged and sitting at our site. There was no dumpster nearby that we could see. Just not a great place to stay. We will not return.

Our nightly rate is a bit high because we are a large family with 8 children so we had to pay an extra daily fee for a few of the kids. This is our fourth year at this KOA and the kids LOVE it! It's not perfect, but nearly. Heated pool, great jumping pillow (extra cost), U-pick blueberries on site, and large pull-through sites, some with concrete patios. The price is a little high considering you have to pay extra for all the activities, but the owners are GREAT and always looking to make improvements. You can tell they take pride in their KOA. The only thing that would make this place even better is paved roads only because after a rain or on a humid morning the dirt and sand create quite a mess. Otherwise, a great place to camp, especially with kids.

We used this campground as a quick overnight stop and were extremely pleased. Although there is really not much to do here, it is very well maintained. The playground was absolutely wonderful: clean and like new. The bathrooms and showers were spotless. If you are stopping for recreation or business in Effingham, or just need an overnight stop, I would highly recommend this campground. Another bonus, it's only 2 miles off the highway.
