Johnson's Marina & Campground, Georgetown, South Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Nightly rate reflects monthly charge. I liked this RV park. It's quiet, clean, & right on the Sampit River. Everyone there was very friendly & the owners are nice & accommodating. I really like that there's a coded gate entry. The gentleman at the front keeps a close eye on traffic & stops anyone who doesn't belong. A vehicle came in behind me once & he asked if they were guests of mine. I told him no & he stopped them to find out why they were there (to look at a camper for sale). Given that my husband works & it's just me & my dog all day, it's great to know that the park is secure. I also want to note that the sites are HUGE. There is plenty of space for slides & awnings. We had a truck, car, & boat parked at our site with lots of room leftover. It is very bare bones. There's no bathhouse, shower, or laundry. There's no cable & the WiFi signal isn't really strong enough to do more than check email. I was able to pull in plenty of OTA channels & I have data on my phone, so not a big deal to me. If they had a laundry, I would have given them a solid 10. There's a nice laundry about 10 miles away. Take care on the entry driveway as it does get washed out areas in rainy weather. Owner scrapes to smooth it back out, but several days of rain will rut it up again. Just drive slow & keep an eye out for the bad spots. Most everything you need is within 10-12 miles. Georgetown downtown is a pretty area to explore. There's a small variety of restaurants & several sight-seeing opportunities. If you can't find something to suit you there, Murrells Inlet is about 30-35 miles down the road with its huge selection of restaurants, & Myrtle Beach is a little further beyond. Downtown Georgetown about 10 miles, Myrtle Beach is 40-ish miles. We camped at Johnson's Marina & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Buddy's Lakeside Park, Inglis, Florida

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Nightly rate reflects monthly charge plus estimated electric. Diamond in the rough. New owners are slowly repairing, replacing, and restoring this sweet RV park. Located on Lake Rousseau with an emphasis on fishing, although no swimming is allowed (lots of gators). It's a really pretty place with great neighbors who watch out for one another. It's quiet and peaceful. Nice laundry that's reasonably priced ($1.75 wash/$1 dry). There's a mix of permanent residents and those just staying for a short time. No cable and OTA is spotty and inconsistent (not a big deal to me), but their WiFi is fantastic. It has great potential and these folks are working hard to make it meet that potential. We camped at Buddy's Lakeside Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Small grocery and restaurants within 6 miles; Walmart a bit over 10 miles. Head into Crystal River and there's lots of restaurants and shops. Plenty to do here if you like to fish or go out on a boat. Plenty of other activities are just a short drive away. About 30 miles from Ocala and 100 miles from Disneyworld.

LaPlace Riverside RV Park, La Place, Louisiana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Quiet, adults only park that caters to those working in the area. They do not allow children & that is clearly stated on their website, along with reasons why. It's a no-frills park. There is wifi, but no cable, bathhouse, or laundry. OTA gave us plenty of tv viewing. Reasonably priced laundromats are within a couple of miles, as are Walmart, Home Depot, & grocery stores. There are quite a few delicious seafood restaurants within 20 miles (some closer), along with a variety of other restaurants, including fast food. There is a padlocked gate at the back, but park residents are given access to a key. You can walk up the hill to the levee path (paved) for many miles of walking, running, or biking. It also offers spectacular views of the sunrise & sunset. This is not a destination rv park. There is no shade. It is a nice, quiet spot to park your camper for the duration. Folks that live there are usually at work during the day. They're all friendly, but everyone pretty much stays to themselves. I'd give them 10 stars if they had a laundry on site. We camped at LaPlace Riverside RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Walmart is a little over 2 miles away. Home Depot is about 1 mile. I would highly recommend Frenier Landing (LaPlace), Off The Dock Seafood (LaPlace), Portside Seafood (St Rose), The Seafood Pot (New Sarpy), & Middendorf's Seafood (Akers). Take a tour with Cajun Pride Swamp Tours while you're there.

Lake City RV Resort (formerly Oaks "N" Pines), Lake City, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Traveling from SC to Louisiana & the truck decided to take a vacation. Luckily, it chose the I-10 exit where this rv park is located to stop. Check-in was quick & painless, site was long enough to accommodate our 32' TT, truck, & car. Owners seem to be in the process of beautifying the park & it shows. It's a lovely place with lots of shade. The spaces are a bit close, but our slide & awning could be extended with no problems. Yes, there's highway noise, but if you choose an rv park that runs parallel to a major interstate, that can be expected. I turned on my fan next to the bed & it knocked out most all of the noise. Only an overnight stay until we could make arrangements on vehicle repairs & truck rental to get us where we needed to go, so we didn't use the laundry, bathhouse, or clubhouse. If we are ever in the area again (hopefully for a more leisurely trip), I wouldn't hesitate to choose this rv park. We camped at Lake City RV Resort (formerly Oaks "N" Pines) in a Travel Trailer.

Moon Landing RV Park & Marina, Cross Hill, South Carolina

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

What a sweet campground!! Clean, quiet, peaceful, & run by some very friendly folks. It's located on Lake Greenwood & there are such beautiful sights to see when the sun is rising over the water. My only regret is that we were only able to stay for 2 weeks. We camped at Moon Landing RV Park & Marina in a Travel Trailer.

Closest Walmart Supercenter is approximately 22 miles away in Greenwood, but there is a BiLo 13 miles away & a Dollar General 6-1/2 miles away. There are a few local restaurants within a 6 mile drive, but we didn't try any of those. Greenwood has loads of restaurants & shopping.

Jones Creek RV Park, Jones Creek, Texas

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

Nightly rate reflects monthly charge plus electric. We were in the rv park for almost 7 weeks & I wish we could have stayed much longer. Friendly, helpful folks who always have a minute to chat & are ready to assist in any way necessary. And there's banana trees!! It's a small park, but plenty of space between campers. We loved it here & would definitely recommend it. We camped at Jones Creek RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

10 miles to Lake Jackson, where there's plenty of shopping, including Walmart, & restaurants. And if you get a chance to take the Paddlewheeler River cruise from Dido's Seafood Restaurant (about 12 miles away), do it!! It's a beautiful sunset ride down the San Bernard River.

Beachfront RV Park and Resort, Freeport, Texas

Date of Stay: June, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects monthly charge & doesn't include electric charge. Beautiful park right on the beach, although a bit pricy. Always quick to address questions & issues. I would give it 10 stars for a laundry & cable service. There's a nice beach walkway with a bench area in the center. Picnic tables at all sites, which is always a nice touch. Lost River RV Park, Baytown, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

Price reflects monthly rate & electric. We enjoyed our stay here. It's surprisingly quiet to be just off I-10. Wifi is a bit unreliable as it goes out randomly. Park could use some clean up, but they are in the process of expanding & a lot of time & energy is being devoted to that at the moment. Other residents are friendly but not intrusive. Very large & reasonably priced laundry on the premises. The sunrise views over the river are unbelievably beautiful. We were there while my husband worked in the area. If he heads back in that area, this will be the first place I'll check for availability. We camped at Lost River RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

McIntosh Lake Campground & RV Park, Townsend, Georgia

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

Rate given reflects monthly charge. This is a quiet, peaceful campground located less than a mile from I-95. It's clean & well maintained. The folks running things are friendly & accommodating. They have several two person swings facing the water & I have gotten to see some beautiful sunsets!! Not a lot of commerce close by, but plenty of store & restaurants on down the highway a bit. Be prepared for lots of sand (it is the coast, after all) & the love bugs, which are bad in this area this year. I'm really enjoying this park & hope we can stay here again in the near future. We camped at McIntosh Lake Campground & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Country Boy RV Park, Madison, Georgia

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

My husband & I stayed here for a month, so the nightly rate is configured from the monthly charge. Lovely, quiet park conveniently located to stores & restaurants. The folks running this park are friendly, welcoming, & helpful. They've also been working hard to improve what was described to me as a sad, run-down, tired park. The first couple of site rows are close to the highway, so there is some road noise, but it didn't bother us or interrupt our sleep. All in all, we had a pleasant stay & were reluctant to leave, but it was time to move on to hubby's next construction job. If he ever gets another job call in that area, I know where I will reserve a spot for our camper. We camped at Country Boy RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Husband & I were here for almost 3 months while he was working in the area. It's clean, quiet, & peaceful, & I enjoyed many lovely sunsets! The owners are very nice folks who escorted us to our lot & were able to supply us with info about the area. Wifi is only available at the front of the campground, but I have it already with my phone. Always able to get a strong signal for my AT&T phone. This place was awesome, & we will definitely return!! Yogi Bear Jellystone Park, Bremen, Georgia

Date of Stay: January, 2014 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

I rated this place low for several reasons. We came in for my husband to work in the area. He only wanted to pay for 3 nights until he was sure he had the job, then we would switch to monthly. I explained this to the owner's wife (she checked us in). At no time were we told that switching from nightly to monthly would require us to move. I found that out when I went to pay for a month (they did apply the 3 paid nights to the monthly charge). We also paid $5 for a month of wifi, which was either unavailable for long periods or interrupted constantly. We also paid for Direct TV at $1 per day. On getting to our site, we realized that there was no way to screw our sewer hose into the sewer pipe. When we asked how to seal the connection, we were told to just push our sewer hose into the hole, which is very unsanitary. Their laundry is decent, but the dryers require 2 cycles (at $1.75 per) to dry a minimal load of towels or denim. After several days, my husband received a call to go to a different job. I asked at the office about a refund, only to find out that they do not normally do this. There was nothing on the website or in the office stating that there were no refunds. The owner finally did refund a minimal amount of our electric deposit. Basically, we paid for a full month, plus paid for wifi & Direct TV & only received about 2/3 of our electric deposit back. We stayed a total of 9 nights & that amount of time cost us $386.79. The office staff consisted of camper folks, & they were all quite friendly & helpful. They are the only reason that I rated this park with anything more than a big zero. We will not return to this campground. We camped at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in a Travel Trailer.

Jolly Acres RV Park and Storage, Saint George, South Carolina

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

My husband and I have been here at Jolly Acres for about a month and a half while he is working in the area. While this park is a bit out of the way, it is a fantastic place to stay. Everyone here is friendly and pleasant. The owners are generous, helpful folks who always share smiles and friendly greetings. This has been one of the best RV parks we have chosen. It's clean, quiet, and well-kept. We will be moving out of the area soon, but plan to return after the first of the year for another work project and we already know where we plan to stay on our return. We camped at Jolly Acres RV Park and Storage in a Motorhome.

Shady Lake RV Park, Leesville, Louisiana

Date of Stay: March, 2009 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

This park was on a large highway, but if you are in the back of the park, the noise level is minimal. The sites are fairly level, but there are lots of trees to maneuver around. We had a problem with their sewer lines backing up on a Saturday and were told that we would have to wait until Monday, since a weekend call would cost more money. So we could not use our bathroom in the camper for a couple of days until their lines were repaired. There is a sizable pond at the entrance to the park and fishing is allowed. We would stay here again if we go back into the area. We camped at Shady Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.
