I-35 RV Park

Waco, Texas

Date of Stay:

This campground is better than satisfactory, but we were there on a Friday night and with the interstate traffic, the race track, the railroad, and the airport----oh me. The racing is only on Friday nights. The staff was extremely helpful. The young man who checked us in was great. They prepare a complimentary breakfast for the over nighters--very nice. Pull throught sites are very close together.

We really liked this campground. Quiet, clean and scenery was beautiful. There is nothing to lure you away from the beauty of the park. Great for bicycles. Stock up on groceries. Closest store is 15 miles. It is not a Walmart. In addition to the camping fee there was a $5 per day state park fee per person unless you bought the family park pass for $70.

We stayed overnight. Pretty far off interstate 55 - close to 15 miles. Our GPS took us on an even longer way to get there. Ask for directions from park office. Well-spaced sites. We had trouble with power and had to move but park personnel were very helpful. Sites were level and well-spaced. Really nice park, but out of the way.

Called late in the day and they were very accommodating giving us a site. The park was completely full, mostly with semi-permanent campers. Very clean and neat. Couldn't get wifi to work, but also didn't pick up but one other network, so probably everyone was on it. Restaurant was great. Good food. Good overnight stop. It is right on Hwy 59 so there was traffic noise.

Monte Sano was a beautiful park. Sites were spacious, nice picnic table, fire ring, generally level. Bathrooms were quite nice for a state park. I am however, hooked on my technology and cell service was sporadic and had many dropped calls. Verizon air card in computer rarely got above one bar. If you are a hiker or love bicycling, this is a good place for you. Convenient to Huntsville. Tree cover is dense so no satellite TV either. Very quiet during the week, but on Friday the place filled up and got very busy. We stayed in a water/electric site only. There are only about 10 or 12 sewer sites on each of two loops.

This campground is located 7 miles of the interstate but it is a nice find! Very quiet, plenty of room, friendly hosts. Wi-Fi was good - there is satellite hookup for TV. We have our own dish so we didn't use it. Very relaxing, each site had a picnic table, and nice fire ring. Creek also on the property. Adjacent to Rails to Trails. We stayed several days. It is in a rural area but we enjoyed it.

This was a nice campground. Very clean and neat. We only stayed overnight on the way to Dauphin Island, it was a good halfway point for us. Owner was friendly and helpful. This was a nasty day: rain and sleet started about dark. Easy setup, pretty level. Campground can be seen from I-65, but noise was not bad. Really didn't have chance to see much. It was great for an overnight stop.

This is a new small park right on Bienville Blvd. across from the public beach on Dauphin Island. There were very few other campers while we were there. When there are, the camping spots will be tight. There is a nice picnic table and concrete patio, and the owners are adding cable TV now. Owners were super friendly and nice. Of course, you are right across the road from the beach and it was beautiful. We were right next to the road and the road noise was noticeable during the day but never bothered us while sleeping. We had a great time.

Wow! What a wonderful campground. We loved staying here. Soooo quiet. Wi-fi was great, bathrooms were some of the cleanest we have ever encountered. Staff was very nice, very helpful. There is generous room between sites, some trees but not too many. This campground is in the middle of a big meadow, bluebird box right by our campsite, a nuthatch visited our campsite every morning for crumbs! We made day trips to Cades Cove, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge and Cheerokee. Did some geocaching and were able to walk to many of the cache sites. Loved all the flowers and birds at the campground. Rained two days while we were here, no problem with mud or water drainage. Has a concrete pad and nice picnic table at each site. Excellent place to visit!

Campground is very full, but we were happy to have a site. We got a water/electric only site and will dump when we leave. Neighbors are nice, but can see what the other review was talking about. Campground does seem full of full-timers. We are several rows back in the campground but interstate noise is still very noticeable. Camp staff very nice and friendly. Campground has pool, playground. No dog noises, or noise from neighbors. We had Good Sam discount.

This is a great park. The laundry and showers were sparkling clean. Staff was very friendly, knowledgeable about Branson, and had good ticket deals. Park is undergoing some upgrades. Our site was shady, with gravel interior roads. Close enough to town so sightseeing is not a problem, but it's out in the country so you could relax when you got back from a day in town. Has a nice pool. Branson is pretty cool.

This was our first experience with KOA. Train whistle, train whistle, clang, clang. The staff was nice and friendly. We had RV trouble and had to cancel our reservation, then ended up being able to make our reservation anyway. Unfortunately, KOA policy dictates you get your reservation fee deducted anyway. That's ok, our fault. Nice paved road leading up to campground, lots of activities for kids. Has a pool, jumping pillow, basketball court, pool. Train whistle, train whistle, clang, clang. Staff friendly and helpful. Cable TV didn't initially work, and staff was quick to come fix it. (Paid extra for the cable TV.) Wi-fi was fine. Laundry was very nice. Did have to wait until some of the semi-permanent residents finished folding their clothes on the washer that I had my clothes in before I could get them out and put them in the dryer. Clang, clang, train whistle, train whistle. Interior roads were rough, not conducive to bicycle riding, our picnic table was rotting and splintered. Neighbor's dog on a twenty foot leash, came and visited us while we were sitting outside in front our camper door. Several dogs were tied up outside of campers, felt sorry for them. Never heard them bark, probably because of train noise. KOA does have policies regarding dogs in the campground, but apparently they are not as important as the cancellation guidelines. Big picture: nice folks, if you like trains, you will LOVE this park. If you don't like trains, day to day, I would say, stay somewhere else.

Site was level. Don't really gamble - but played a penny machine and had fun. Pets in view in campground but kept up and no annoying barking. Very friendly check-in staff at box office. Great stop if you like to gamble or an overnight. Not really a "camping" stop". Enjoyed it!

Beautiful view of the river. Really enjoyed that. Sewer too far away from camper. Had to move camper and dump as we left. Not crowded on this early weekend in March. Very nice host. Park was quiet and close to city conveniences without the noise.

This park is a gem. All the reviews are on track. This park is the farthest from the Interstate but only about a mile on and well worth it. The park does cater to adults, no playgrounds or play areas, but that was fine with us. We had a great lake site and everyone was very friendly. There were a lot of dogs at the campground but all were well behaved and on leashes. We only heard barking once. The only problem I saw was very early one morning I followed a man around on a walk who allowed his dog to pee on the electric hookups and on the flower pots. I was truly indignant for the owners since the care and time given to landscaping this campground are very evident. The owners live on site and have made this a wonderful escape for a stopover or a vacation, very relaxing.
