A Country RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: May, 2018 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park and great for a couple days if you are in the area. My biggest complaint is with the office staff, I haven't been greeted so poorly in a long time. The two women in the office really don't seem to like their jobs and I would suggest they seek other employment. The park itself is very nice, clean level concrete pads, especially the area for transient tenants. Some of the trees in these sites are getting a little too large, I needed to scrape along an evergreen to get into my site, no damage, just would prefer not to need to do that. Some of the permanent sites are more than a little cluttered. We camped at A Country RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Galloping Snail, Bryan, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a fun park. The game room is great. There is just about every type of electronic game, possible. There is a real bowling lane in there, you need to set your own pins but really fun. The park is a little out of town, and there are a lot of rules, but still a nice park and worth checking out. We only stayed one night but I would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Galloping Snail in a Fifth Wheel.

Smokey Bottom Campground, Elkins, West Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very strange park, there appeared to be many permanent residents . When I contacted them to make a reservation I was told to just pull in and to take any available site and that the owner would stop by for payment. We did as instructed. The spots are fairly rough, not level, mostly on grass / mud. We stayed 2 nights while sightseeing in the area, every evening and morning we waited for the owner to collect the fee and tell us the wi-fi code. Nobody ever came, I tried to call him but there is absolutely no Verizon service for miles around. I asked the gentleman parked next to me and he told me the owner said he would come by to collect also. I looked for a pay phone in town, of course there are none anymore. I tried using an IP phone app on my cell phone while at McDonalds and the call wouldn't go through. So early on the third morning my wife and I hooked up and again looked for some indication of where we were to pay the fee but found nothing, so we left, thinking we would contact the owner once we had phone service and get the address to mail him a check. We were about 5 miles out of town when this black pick-up truck zoomed up behind us frantically flashing his lights. I slowed down so he could pass but he wouldn't, just kept zooming up on my bumper flashing his lights. Finally I made a turn to get onto a 4 lane highway and he pulled up beside me screaming something at me out of the open passenger window of his truck. I couldn't figure out what I had done to cause this road rage, honestly he scared my wife and me half to death, he was so angry. Turns out it was the campground owner wanting his money. When I finally realized this I pulled over and he pulled in front of us and came back to the truck in a rage, I tried to explain the effort I had gone through to contact him but he was in a total fury screaming at me, so I just paid him the $80 and he sped off. My suggestion is if you are in Elkins, stay at one of the nearby state / federal parks. We camped at Smokey Bottom Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Calling Panther Lake Campground, Crystal Springs, Mississippi

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $13.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park. The sites are excellent. Getting to the park is almost impossible. There is not one sign, the other review says there are signs it is incorrect. You will never find it without a GPS and getting out of there to head south on I55 is no picnic, the roads are terrible. I would like to say again, this is a very nice campground, if you can get to it. We camped at Calling Panther Lake Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

I-35 RV Park, Elm Mott, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park for an overnight right along the interstate, very easy on and off. The staff is very friendly and the park provides a free breakfast. The sites are on dirt and gravel, and the night we stayed it had rained so things were a little muddy. We would stay here again if we were in the area. We camped at I-35 RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Washington Park (City Park), De Smet, South Dakota

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $1.00
Overall Rating:

This park is essentially closed. It looks like they have built a new building on the site where the RV park was located. The only thing I could find were 3 power poles, next to what is actually a ditch. These three sites could possibly accommodate a class B or C, without slides, but that is about it. We could not camp here in our 34' fifth wheel. We camped at Washington Park (City Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Carlsbad RV Park and Campground, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This park is relatively close to Carlsbad Caverns NP. The sites are average, we had a back-in, dirt and gravel. The pool was down with “Major Problems”. When I made my reservation I asked to be put in a site with good Wi-Fi coverage. I work from my RV and need this service. When I checked in I asked if the site was near the Wi-Fi, and was told yes. What I wasn’t told was that the Wi-Fi was down and wasn’t going to be coming back any time soon. I called the office to complain and they said they would have someone look at it and get it working. Never happened. I would have appreciated them being honest with me when I made my reservation and asked about a site near the Wi-Fi, I would have made another choice. But I guess they would rather have the money than a good reputation. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

White Springs RV Park, White Springs, Florida

Date of Stay: April, 2011 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park, everything is well maintained and the owner is very attentive to the grounds and structures. This can come across as pushy, but I have seen other parks where I wish the owners were more diligent about the appearance of their park. We spent a week here, as it was convenient for our needs, and enjoyed the quiet very much. If I'm ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. I would have rated the park a 10 if it would have had a pool or cable TV. We camped at White Springs RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Pioneer River Resort, Bandera, Texas

Date of Stay: January, 2010 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in this park because it's within walking distance to downtown Bandera. I also chose the park because they advertise free Wi-Fi and I work from my RV. After we checked in we were told, "We have been having trouble with the Wi-Fi and we have parts on order". Well we stayed here for 7 nights and those parts never arrived. My advise would be to move on down the road to one of the other parks in the area. The rest of the park is starting to show signs of neglect, the sites are somewhat muddy and in need of some new gravel and re-leveling. I wouldn't stay here again without trying some of the other parks around Bandera. We camped at Pioneer River Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina

Date of Stay: September, 2009 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice and very new RV park. The owner operates the office and is very pleasant. Some of the sites are paved and some are gravel. The gravel site we stayed on was very level and they have just completed installing cable on the last two rows in the park. They have Wi-Fi, and it worked great. Unlike a lot of parks that advertise having Wi-Fi but when you get there it's not working. True the pool isn't installed as of yet but one is planned. We camped at The RV Resort at Carolina Crossroads in a Fifth Wheel.

Royal Oaks RV Park, Bemidji, Minnesota

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice park, and the staff is very friendly. It's very near the exit ramp off Route 2, and there is a little traffic noise from the trucks. The interior roads are gravel and a little dusty, but the sites are long and well shaded. This is a very convenient park if visiting the Bemidji area, and near to grocery, restaurants etc. I would stay here again. We camped at Royal Oaks RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Little River Casino Resort, Manistee, Michigan

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park, The sites are fairly open, but there is currently not much shade. Once the trees grow in a few years this should improve. The pool is located in the hotel but is available to the RV park guests. We camped at Little River Casino Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
