Orange Grove RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

It is so much fun to pick your own fresh oranges right off the trees in this camp if you are there when the fruit is ripe. They even provide picker cups to get the high oranges. Free coffee and donuts in the morning. Theyhave added several new dog run areas which are very nice. This RV park is getting very popular so I'd suggest reservations. The night we stayed there they had filled up and it is a very large RV park. We camped at Orange Grove RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be careful of some of the orange tree branches--they can scratch your rig. Also, make sure you've left enough room to open up your slides. The sites are a bit narrow and the orange trees are a plus and a minus! The community room at this RV park is really nice. Rusty's Pizza delivers out here--only the best pizza ever in my opinion!

Beatty RV Park, Beatty, Nevada

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This RV park is the best-kept secret in the Death Valley area. The managers are wonderful. The sites are good and there is a gate from the park right into BLM lands. At night you can hear the burros and coyotes. It's about 3 miles north of the actual town of Beatty--don't be distracted by any of the parks right in town. We camped at Beatty RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shoshone RV Park, Shoshone, California

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We love this RV park! We've watched them transform a run-down park into a great camping spot. They are busy restoring the creek area for the Amargosa voles and the pupfish. They have added wonderful, cleared hiking trails along the creek and a wildlife viewing area at the large pond. The folks are wonderful! It's easy to walk over to the only place to eat or get a beer which is the Crowbar. So much character. There is no cell service but the wifi is mostly okay. This is the best place to stay before heading into Death Valley. Good laundry facilities and free RO water to campers. We camped at Shoshone RV Park in a Motorhome.

Esmeralda RV Park and Campground, Dyer, Nevada

Date of Stay: February, 2018 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

What a little gem of an RV park! The people were wonderful and helpful. The wifi was fantastic for such an out-of-the way place. The little store had what we needed, it was safe and a real refuge in a nasty windstorm. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Esmeralda RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Shamrock RV Park, Reno, Nevada

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed at this park before but the whole experience is different from our last stay. It is now primarily a "monthly" park. The RVs are jammed in cheek to jowel, most rigs are there for the long haul since the people are working in the area, nearly every unit had a large propane tank , there are all kinds of cheesy lawn decorations all over, the roads in the park are tight and narrow--it was not easy to maneuver down the rows, to park, to get out or have even a modicum of privacy. The staff was as nice as ever. We won't stay there again. We camped at Shamrock RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mesa Verde RV Park, Wolfforth, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Although the people were very nice, this was about the ugliest place to spend the night I've ever seen. There was no grass, no landscaping--just gravel, loud highway noise all night and industrial lights. It was depressing and I was very glad to only have to stay one night. We camped at Mesa Verde RV Park in a Motorhome.

Point of Rocks RV Campground, Prescott, Arizona

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We ended up having to stay a week because I got the flu and was very ill. They were so nice and accommodating during this time for us. They managed to find us spaces even tho we had to move 3 times. This campground is absolutely beautiful--one of my favorite RV parks ever. Great trails, stunning rocks and scenery, quiet. Wifi varied throughout the park but ranged from ok to excellent. Laundry facilities were great. I can't recommend this RV park highly enough. We camped at Point of Rocks RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Typically over-priced KOA but Holbrook is a poor town. It seemed reasonably safe in the campground and cooled down at night. The wifi was much better than most RV parks. Nothing special.

Santa Rosa Campground & RV Park, Santa Rosa, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2017 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

We had a very nice spot. It was quiet, roomy and pretty. There is home-made BBQ in the evening they will deliver to your site and it was great! The negatives were the pet area was unfenced and very small and there was no working wifi. It said there was but we couldn't get any. I think this is a gem of an RV park on a long stretch of empty scenery. We camped at Santa Rosa Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lakeside Casino & RV Park , Pahrump, Nevada

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here many times. The sites are situated around a pretty pond, there are shade trees everywhere, paddleboats, big swimming pool and walking paths. Security is good. Our only complaint is that the ducks are starting to take over and there is a lot of duck/goose poop around. Otherwise it is a wonderful relaxing, green oasis in the desert. Good idea to make reservations. We camped at Lakeside Casino & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shoshone RV Park, Shoshone, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite RV parks. The price has gone up the last few years, but it has really been cleaned up. There is a large grass tent area, a big pond, a swimming pool fed by natural warm spring water, shady salt ceder trees with privacy and lots of places to walk your dog. Shoshone is the last settlement before Death Valley and the RV park doesn't try and pretend to be a Tyrolian village. It fits in beautifully with the Mojave desert. The staff are great! Wifi is very good and dependable. There is a natural stream that is being restored and is home to the rare pupfish. The people running the park really care about the desert environment. We spend a few days here twice a year just to acclimate to the desert and to relax and unwind before taking on Death Valley. We camped at Shoshone RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Chevron station and convenience store 2 blocks down the road. The Crowbar Saloon is a hoot that serves a nice breakfast. There is a museum and a post office. The tour of the old miners' quarters cut into the rock cliffs is very interesting. If you have time, be sure and visit the China Date Ranch and get a date milkshake--delicious!

Country Hills RV Park, Beaumont, California

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This was a very sad RV park with nearly all of the occupants also residents. The place where they put us an 'overnighter' was between 2 broken down motorhomes. One had trash, flat tires and a rusted out car and some other vehicle under a torn tarp; the other side we had a very worn trailer with 3 motorcycles, a few rusted vehicles and clutter all around. The place simply did not feel safe. We had planned to stay 3 nights but left after just one. They were very good about refunding our money. There were a lot of down and outters, tattoos, smoking, obvious drug users, etc. hanging around in the park. Other places in the park were well-maintained but we weren't put there. It was full. There was a gate key given to us to use so they are aware of security. It's just a bad area all around there. I understand there is new management trying to improve the park. We will never stay there again. We camped at Country Hills RV Park in a Motorhome.

Hendy Woods State Park, Boonville, California

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Spaces are very tight. There were no open places to throw frisbees or play catch. I have no idea why it was necessary to have workers with leaf blowers churning up dust and tree needles in a forest!!! They were loud and choked up the air. It made no sense. It was difficult to manuever our 31' rig. Because we had a handicap spot, we had electricity. The rest of the sites have nothing. There were plenty of trash bins which was nice. But we won't return--it was cheek to jowl. We camped at Hendy Woods State Park in a Motorhome.

Beatty RV Park, Beatty, Nevada

Overall Rating:

We have stayed here many times. It's a great jumping off place for the triangle area of Death Valley as well as the Nevada hills behind Beatty. The park backs up to BLM land with several easy walking trails. The famous burros are always there. It's a wonderful RV park especially if you have dogs or plan on off-road recreation. It's quiet and enough out of town so there is little traffic. We camped at Beatty RV Park in a Motorhome.
