Blazing Star Luxury RV Resort, San Antonio, Texas

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $58.00
Overall Rating:

Delightful first visit of five nights - 2016-11-15/20. Had premier site, which was worth the additional $$$. Site was nicely level, and long enough for truck in front of trailer and another car behind. Entire park was well kept, clean spaces and facilities. Nice dog park. Office, club house, pool and hot tub were pretty. Small and well kept playground. Most of the residents were there for a longer period - winter Texans. Staff was professional and friendly. We rank this park as the place to stay when on the west side of San Antonio. There is an HEB+ food store just south, and there are plenty of other stores nearby. We camped at Blazing Star Luxury RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Gila Bend KOA (formerly Augie's Quail Trail RV Park), Gila Bend, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one nite 2016-09-24. The park manager was friendly, professional, and attentive. We arrived at 1700, and the park is just a couple minutes off I-8. Overnight sites were grouped on north side of park. Park was large, and there are many improvements underway. The staff does an excellent job keeping the park clean and groomed. Gravel site was level and spacious. We will likely return. We camped at Gila Bend KOA (formerly Augie's Quail Trail RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed one nite, 2016-10-02. Arrived late without reservation. Night sign in was easy. Facility was nearly full, but we still found a nice pull-through. Staff was friendly and professional when we checked in the next morning. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Mesa / Apache Junction KOA, Apache Junction, Arizona

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night 2016-10-01. Arrived about 1900, late arrival. Package was at night desk. Gravel site was plenty long and level. We did not unhitch for the nite. Nice park for taking walks. Staff on telephone was friendly and professional. Like the location on the east side of Mesa, when continuing along US 62. Fry's grocery store and other stors about 1 mile NW. We camped at Mesa / Apache Junction KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Any of the pull throughs were plenty long. If staying for several days, get the site with the gas grill and patio. Those looked really nice.

Carlsbad KOA, Carlsbad, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $41.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night Monday 2016-10-03. Arrived at 1700. Staff was professional and friendly. Gravel site is spacious and level. Hooks ups were easy, but sewer was too long for one 15 ft. hose. Drives are gravel which made for a bit of dust as vehicles went by. Noticed quite a few long term residents with large propane bottles and water softener/filters. Overall, this is a nice park along US 285. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Travel Trailer.

San Diego Metro KOA, Chula Vista, California

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $59.00
Overall Rating:

Remains one of the finest RV parks in the country. Park has a professional and most supportive staff. We felt welcome. Facility is clean and well maintained. There was plenty of space for entrancing and exiting with our 31' trailer. We enjoyed the many facilities. Evenings at the cafe were a nice social event, and we celebrated St. Patrick's Day with many others kampers. We had several Amazon packages delivered, and the office quickly notified us of the arrival. The dog park has two large sections, and the park provides bags. The entire park is a great place to take long walks. Tengo WiFi is available, but, as we find at most parks, it is slow and hard to connect. We enjoyed using the gas grill in the Kamper Kitchen. For the first time when visiting, more than once, we got a strong odor of sewer gas at our site as there was a system vent close by. We camped at San Diego Metro KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tucson / Lazydays KOA, Tucson, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed overnight twice while traveling on I-10. Easy to get into park from I-10. Checkin staff was helpful. On second visit, we arrived about 8:30 pm, and the night gate guard was well prepared and helpful. Site was clean and level. Park was clean and well maintained. They picked up trash at the site in the morning. The fruit trees had plentiful fruit on the ground, and the overall park is a nice place to walk with our dog. We camped at Tucson / Lazydays KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Fort Stockton RV Park, Fort Stockton, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed one night in early March and another night in late March while traveling along I-10. Park was clean and well maintained. Our pull-through site was level, and hook ups were well placed. Cafe was nice. Many sites looked to be filled with longer-term residents. Location is a few miles east of Ft. Stockton on I-10. Seemed secure, and we can recommend when traveling through. We camped at Fort Stockton RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Hill Country, Canyon Lake, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $67.00
Overall Rating:

Activities center around the large water park and the bounce area at the front. The playgrounds were nice and plentiful. There were several Easter weekend activities, including egg hunts and hay rides. The park was nearly full. It was great to see families and children everywhere. There were many cabins and rooms in addition to the RV spaces.

We stayed in a "premier" back-in, no slide-outs space. The gravel site was quite unlevel, requiring the longest front jack deployment we've ever used to obtain front-to-back level. The site also required one lynxleveler block on the curb side for side-to-side level. Parking across from the site made it difficult to back in. Out site view from the front was the RV storage area, and we had a view into other sites from the rear.

To be properly situated, we had to back our 30 ft trailer right up to the fire pit, making it unusable. The power and water connections were mid-trailer, and the sewer connection was well behind the trailer, requiring two long sections of RhinoFlex sewer hose. The trailer wastewater connection to the sewer outlet had little fall.

We were close to the trailer next to us, and we could not deploy our main awning. There was a large tree on the curb side. The picnic table and fire ring were behind the trailer, while most sites had these beside the trailer.

Park is on septic system, so you must use only septic system safe products. We camped at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Hill Country in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed one night while traveling on I-10. Staff is most helpful and professional. We arrived late, and they had everything ready for us. Hook ups were each. Area was clean. Park section where we stayed was reasonably full. Noise from I-10, narrow sites, and construction near entrance road were on detractors. We have stayed here before, and each time we left thinking it was a good decision. We camped at Lafayette KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent, well maintained facility. Sites wide and level with small gravel covering. Staff are efficient and kind. Reason for 9 instead of 10 is the I-10 road noise. Will return. We camped at Hacienda RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Returned for a wonderful stay of 13 nites. Grounds are kept well. We especially liked early morning walks around the park, including the open green space is the rear. Sites are superbly maintained. Weekends are busy, but during the work week, the facility is wonderfully quiet. Will return. We camped at San Diego Metro KOA in a Travel Trailer.
