Indian Point COE, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

This is the third time we have stayed here. The previous times were in August 2007 and July 2009. Extensive work has been done since then to gradually replace all of the railroad tie retaining walls with stone retaining walls. Many of the older stone picnic tables have been replaced with new aluminum ones. As others have indicated, this campground is well located in a shaded area on Table Rock Lake near the end of the peninsula on which Silver Dollar City is located. It is the COE campground that is closest to Branson. We found Silver Dollar City is not a problem for traffic as the traffic was usually running in the opposite direction of our travel to and from Branson. We stayed on the loop near the Marina, which has the best views of the lake, but requires a longer walk to the campground beach and playground. Restrooms and showers are limited. They were aged. However, they were clean on the days we stayed. There are only water and electric hookups at the sites, but the price savings was worth the occasional trips to dump station for the waste water tanks. We camped at Indian Point COE in a Tent Trailer.

Indian Point COE, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: July, 2010 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This was our second stay here (we previously stayed during the summer of 2007). The campground continues to be very well maintained and is one of our favorite places to camp (we have a pop-up camper). The swimming area and several of the sites appear to have been recently renovated. There appears to be an ongoing project to replace the aging wooden railroad tie retaining walls with stone retaining walls. It is quiet, clean, secure, has a view of the lake, is in walking distance of a convenience store and is close to area attractions. It was well worth the extra effort needed to haul my grey water to the dump station once a day (no sewer lines). Finally, you can't beat the price. Highly recommended. We camped at Indian Point COE in a Tent Trailer.

Onawa / Blue Lake KOA, Onawa, Iowa

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the best KOA campgrounds we have stayed in. Being just off of I-29, we used it to overnight on the way home from the Black Hills. However, it also being right on Blue Lake makes it a weekend destination in its own right. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. The restrooms and showers were immaculate. We had a nice pull-through lakefront site. We arrived just in time to see a great sunset over the lake. I highly recommend it. We camped at Onawa / Blue Lake KOA in a Tent Trailer.

Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort, Hill City, South Dakota

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This is an excellent campground. It is a very large property with fabulous views which include Harney Peak. It also a nice large meadow in the middle that is well maintained which is great for frisbee, catch or stargazing at night. We camped with a large popup #150 in the Lower Ranch Area. It was a walk up a hill to get to Restrooms and Showers, but it mattered little for us since we have facilities in our popup. Regardless, they were immaculate. The Wi-Fi was slow, but typical in our experience for campgrounds not located near urban or suburban areas. The pancake breakfast was both cheap and delicious. I highly recommend the campground and we plan to make another trip out to it and the Black Hills in the future. We camped at Rafter J Bar Ranch Camping Resort in a Tent Trailer.

Riverside City Park, Scottsbluff, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice, safe and clean little city-run campground that has a great price. The campground Host was very friendly and helpful. There is some train noise, but it is not a problem if you are running an air conditioner fan. The small zoo next store is very nice as well. We stayed here in a popup camper while visiting Oregon Trail sites on the way to the Black Hills. I highly recommend it. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Tent Trailer.

Grand Island KOA, Doniphan, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This a well maintained campground with a friendly staff. It is located just off the interstate in the middle of a large cornfield, but being in full season the corn acted as a great muffler for the highway. Everything was immaculate and the pool was nice. The only downsides were that the hot water system could not keep up with he demand for showers and the wifi service was very weak. Otherwise, this is a great campground for an overnight stop on the way to another destination. I highly recommend it. We camped at Grand Island KOA in a Tent Trailer.
