Jekyll Island Campground, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Date of Stay: December, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed from Christmas thru New years as we have been doing for a few years now. We love this park and the people that run it. It is a great park for relaxing and bike riding and sight seeing. Some people give it bad reviews because of leaves and dirt. I don't know what else they expect to find in south Ga. but this is not your high end resort type of place. Its nice, quite and relaxing. I guess to sum it up. The island has a lot to entertain you and a lot near by as well. If your looking for a camping experience there is none better. If you want a 5 star yuppie resort go else where or stay at the big hotel. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

DeSoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We still love this park but I feel it is getting over priced for the area. By the time you get all the fee's and taxes figured in your over $40 a night. The lodge still has good food but the Friday night seafood buffet is not a deal at about $20.00 . There should be more on it than shrimp and fish for that price.
On the bright side you can now reserve a specific site instead of first come first serve. The staff at the park have always been great and helpful. We camped at DeSoto State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Jekyll Island Campground, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Date of Stay: January, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We come here every year during Christmas and New years. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi has been improved and worked very well. There is some bad information here from previous post I would like to correct. This is not a Ga. State park. It is operated by the Jekyll Island Authority. There is no oil used on the roads, this is just the way the dirt is when its wet. The rest rooms are old but are kept up and operating under the budget they have and improvement's are going on all the time. This park is a good spot to go biking and bird watching with a few really good places to eat on the island and history all around you on and off the island. I am in no way affiliated with the CG but I do know Jekyll pretty well. We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

DeSoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: July, 2014 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

Great place as always. We come to this park 2 or 3 times a year. Lodge has great food at reasonable prices but I was not crazy about their seafood buffet for the price. Rocks at entrance are no problem at all but seem to scare some folks. Easy access to park and sites. great staff and the rangers do talks and things on the weekends. Lots to see and do in the area. After reading some post here about simple little problems they see you have to realize this is not a high end rv resort, it is however one of the best state parks we have ever visited. We camped at DeSoto State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Clabough's Campground, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Date of Stay: March, 2013 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

Here for the 4th time an maybe last. Staff friendly and helpful and park pretty clean. Sites were muddy after a rain and I know that happens but they need to do something about the run off. Cable TV was not very good, some clear channels but more that were not. Great WiFi. It looks more like its turning into a seasonal or full time park. We camped at Clabough's Campground in a Motorhome.

Jekyll Island Campground, Jekyll Island, Georgia

Date of Stay: December, 2012 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We returned for 2 weeks during Christmas and New years after missing a year. It now cost $10.00 for MH and $6.00 for pick ups and cars to get on the island. The daily pass is now good until midnight the next day. Camp ground was great with a great staff as usual. Only draw back is the WiFi is still weak, but the problem is the modem and not their WiFi. Love this place!! We camped at Jekyll Island Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Chief Ladiga Trail Campground, Borden Springs, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground. No hook ups available at all. Sites are not really laid out, just park where you want for the most part. We parked right on the creek and with the mountains on both sides of you it is a beautiful place. Bike riding on the Chief Ladiga Trail and hiking on the Pinhoti tail or maybe a kayak or canoe ride down the creek. Very nice and super dark at night. Great star gazing! Lots of church groups and boy scouts. We will go back and hookups are in the future although I'm not sure that would really be a good thing. We camped at Chief Ladiga Trail Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Cross Creek Camp Ground and Cabins, Clayton, Georgia

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Small campground with a very home like feel. Owners live on site and are constantly working on CG and it shows. Super nice people and very helpful. I lost a tire while here and they made sure I was well taken care of, without being taken advantage of. Bath houses were painted with murals inside and very cool. Only bad thing was Wi-Fi was strong but the modem seemed overloaded. We will be back. We camped at Cross Creek Camp Ground and Cabins in a Fifth Wheel.

Volunteer Park Family Campground, Heiskell, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Campground was very clean. Paid extra for their super site and still could not open awning. Cable TV was very fuzzy and was told they would come check it but never did. Staff was very friendly, only bad for me was small sites, poor cable, and a little pricey for location but would use again if I needed to be in the area. We camped at Volunteer Park Family Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Toccoa Valley Campground, Blue Ridge, Georgia

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We just found this campground this weekend. It is a very small park with only 10 RV sites and 14 tent sites. The park offers tubing and raft rides down the Toccoa river and has very friendly staff. It is family owned and operated, and just needs a little work on a few things. Bath houses were clean and well maintained. Their primary business is tubing and rafting but is a great little park for this. This park is not big rig friendly, but is a great place for smaller campers. We will return. We camped at Toccoa Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Northgate RV Travel Park, Athens, Alabama

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend for the hot air balloon festival. This is a great park for a home base while in the area but not for a destination park. Owner who is a very good guy, told me this on the phone when I called. Loved watching the lambs play in the field and got a kick out of Dottie the greeter ( also mooch ). She came to see me a couple of times a day. WiFi antenna is down from lightning but can get a signal at office. We will use this park again. We camped at Northgate RV Travel Park in a Fifth Wheel.

DeSoto State Park, Fort Payne, Alabama

Date of Stay: August, 2009 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Love this park: it's very nice since the renovation. The staff is great and very helpful. Lots of trails to hike and things to do in the area. The restaurant at the lodge is very good. Only thing that would make it better is if it had Wi-Fi in the campground and not just the office. We camped at DeSoto State Park in a Motorhome.
