Buena Vista Coastal RV Resort, Orange Beach, Alabama

Date of Stay: November, 2017 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Rate reflects $1o0 per night + resort fee + "cleaning fee" + "Processing Fee" less FMCA discount. Having said that these lots are fantastic and the resort is incredibly well maintained. Staff was professional on check-in if not friendly. You are across the street from the gulf but "you can't get there from here." The beach in front of the condos is private so you have to go to the state park or north to a beach access. There is a pool and several of the lots are amazing. On the other hand the resort is far from built out so there are construction sites and views. We found several great places to eat including one right on the gulf. If we are to go the Gulf again, we would certainly consider Buena Vista. We camped at Buena Vista Coastal RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Baton Rouge KOA, Denham Springs, Louisiana

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Very easy access from I-12. Our site was easy to get into but not as level as we would like which affected our parking location. Grounds were neat but rough - not landscaped. We were passing through and it was fine for that. It would have worked for a few nights to visit the area and New Orleans. The staff was great - very friendly and helpful. We camped at Baton Rouge KOA in a Motorhome.

Houston East RV Resort, Baytown, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a former KOA. It was very clean and attractive. Staff was friendly. Hookups were well setup. On the downside, the roads were narrow and several residents were partially blocking them. Lots of full timers but that may have been a result of Harvey. Sites were pretty close together and a dog was roaming around the park. We camped at Houston East RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Leander / NW Austin KOA, Leander, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $53.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here before and the park is convenient, clean and simple to navigate. The staff is friendly and efficient. WIFI isn't something we rate on but it was better than average. The only negative - as with many KOA's - is the price. Not outrageous, but higher than most similar parks. You know in advance what you will get so that is good but you also know that you'll be paying for it. Other than price our rating would have been higher. We camped at Leander / NW Austin KOA in a Motorhome.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Excellent Park. Level site, Friendly Staff Site was too small to accommodate Tow. We probably could have headed out but backing out and connecting was easy peasy. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA , Toomsuba, Mississippi

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

A pretty typical KOA. We had no trouble getting to the CG or to our site. We were greeted pleasantly and efficiently and guided to our site. It was relatively level. The other campers were friendly and outgoing. We had no trouble with satellite reception and WIFI worked fine. The road in is a bit narrow, but the surrounding area is pretty sketchy. We camped at Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA in a Motorhome.

Coastal Georgia RV Resort, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here several times. It is our go to place for going from NC to Florida. It is also convenient for visiting Brunswick, Jekyll Island and other places. We rarely give a 10 but CG almost got one. Be aware that while the sites are generous, the turns into them are about impossible to make without running over the grass. On our first visit the owner told us he hadn't realized that there were coaches of 45 feet and he understood why we had run over the edge. It's not a big deal unless you are 45 feet. We camped at Coastal Georgia RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Erie KOA, Mckean, Pennsylvania

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $48.00
Overall Rating:

Biggest issue was lack of signage for exit. We went the wrong way and scratched the MH. Site was fine although we couldn't get a DTV connection nor could our friends who were on a nearby site. Not many trees but apparently well placed. We camped at Erie KOA in a Motorhome.

Flatwoods KOA, Sutton, West Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

The CG is convenient and the sites are nice with good spacing. The ride up to the CG from I-79 is a bit hard to find and the road has curbs which are easy to clip.

As another reviewer noted, you have to check in at the Days Inn which is fine if you know it, but challenging if you don't. We weren't towing so it wasn't a huge issue other than it was late in the day. There are multiple porticos so it's hard to find the check in desk. We camped at Flatwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

Sun Valley Campground, Chillicothe, Ohio

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

This park is just what we needed for an overnight. It is clean and the staff was friendly. Unlike other reviewers we had no issue checking in at 7:30 PM - staff was in office. There are a few funky things - our site was a pull-through but it is a double site. 55/56. We were assured we'd not have anyone on the other half! The site was easy in and really easy to get out.

Many campers look as if they are here for the season but all were friendly.

We couldn't get a line of site for DTV due to trees, but the OTA signal was excellent so fine for a night. WIFI was also EXCELLENT. How many times do we get to say that? We camped at Sun Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Jones Station RV Park, Mebane, North Carolina

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really good park for overnight (Convenient to I-85) or for a longer stay (Lots to do in the area).

It's easy to access and the roads are maneuverable. There is a mix of long-term and short-term campers but everyone was really friendly. The owners seem to take a personal interest in their guests.

As an aside, because of it's proximity to Duke and UNC it is convenient for those who are dealing with long-term health issues.

Our dog was welcomed and the open spaces and treed areas made for a nice setting. Our space was completely open and had great DTV and OTA reception.

Our site was not as level as we would have liked but not a big problem. Pups are not tightly controlled and we were blessed with a "gift" one morning. I guess that is part of the price you pay for the friendly informality of the place.

It's a small park so you need reservations.

We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Jones Station RV Park in a Motorhome.

Motorcoach Resort St. Lucie West, Port Saint Lucie, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Fair notice - we own a lot here. That said, we thought our views would be useful for potential renters. The Resort is clean and well maintained. The lots, back-in or head-in, are easy to get into. Many have outdoor amenities and some have only a picnic table. The premium lots with waterfront locations are beautiful and the others are fine.

It can be a bit confusing because the rental program is not run by the HOA. A previous review commented on no call back about a party. The parties are run by the HOA and communication could be better. This is not a big issue and shouldn't be a reason to avoid the resort.

There are tons of things to do in the area. Our favorite is the PGA Academy which is open to the public with great practice facilities and instructors. We camped at Motorcoach Resort St. Lucie West in a Motorhome.

Heartland Resort, Greenfield, Indiana

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

A 6 rating may be generous. We use this park to visit our kids in Greenfield. There's not really another choice. The pull through sites are gravel - very old gravel with weeds mixed in. They are relatively level. The hookups are old and in need of being spiffed up. Our sewer connection had been badly cross threaded and CG maintenance had to use a huge wrench and my hammer. This area hasn't been mowed although one site was mowed by the resident since if you have a longer rate, you have to mow your own grass. (I don't carry a mower!!) Most of the long-termers are in the lower part of the CG and that area is depressing to drive through. There are a few in the pull-through area and their sites are pretty messy although better than the lower area. The staff is quirky - friendly but lots of little rules. Initial reactions tend to be "No." I could only wash the front of my coach since it was the weekend. I was warned three times not to "make a mess." I'm not sure how one would define a mess given the condition of the CG. There is golf for a fee and the Par 3 course looks pretty nice. Fishing and lots of vacant fields to walk and for pets to exercise. Resort is a stretch but for an overnight or if you need to be in the area, it's OK. We camped at Heartland Resort in a Motorhome.

Whispering Hills RV Park, Georgetown, Kentucky

Date of Stay: May, 2014 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for an overnight. It is a very good park - convenient to I-75 with two Pilot's for refueling at the exit. As noted before, use the exit from the south. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The CG seems pretty new and there are things that will improve over time. There is a really nice lake and the rules are very pet-friendly. Access to Kentucky Horse Park and other attractions would make this a good base camp for an extended stay. Why only an 8? The roads need to be reworked - they're rough and rutted. Our site wasn't terribly level. The gravel hasn't packed down well. The camper before us had put his levelers down and we could see an 8" deep cylinder-shaped depression so we chose not to put ours down. The lady who checked us in said that when there is a lot of rain, there can be issues. Having said that, we will definitely stay here again for a longer period. There are just too may pluses to worry about the newness issues. We camped at Whispering Hills RV Park in a Motorhome.

Coastal Georgia RV Resort, Brunswick, Georgia

Date of Stay: April, 2014 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Great park for one night passing through or a base for visiting the area. The staff is great and helpful. We've stayed here before and really like it. Lots of snowbirds this time on the way home. Very pet friendly and the pond is beautiful - wish we'd had time to fish. The CG would be 10 if the streets were wider. You can't get a 45' MH into the sites pulling a toad without running over the grass. The owner told us he had used a 40 footer for planning and wished he had thought about a 45. He said he knew about it and it wasn't a problem. The sites are a bit tight but the shrubbery provides a bit of privacy. We camped at Coastal Georgia RV Resort in a Motorhome.
