We loved it! We picked this park because we could camp in our pop-up while the grandparents could stay in a park model. We camped sound-side, and they were within a brief walk to the beach- all without leaving the campground. The ocean was gorgeous, as were the sound-side sunsets. The pool was great. The staff attentive and friendly. Plenty of activity areas (tennis, shuffleboard, etc.) all included at no additional charge, except, inexplicably, a rather modest mini-golf setup. Why include all the other things, and then charge for that one, less-than-impressive, item? A few trees for shade/ to break the constant breeze would be a nice addition. Overall, nice week!!

My son summed it up: "It's fun and friendly." We'd not been here before, and we'll certainly be back. We stayed over Labor Day Weekend. The park was full, but still did not feel "crowded." There was a wide variety of activities, from planned to spontaneous, enough to keep me busy on the kayak (and planning to do some fishing and crabbing next time) and for the kids to have all kinds of fun. The staff was friendly and the campground well maintained. Many seasonal campers, though we felt right at home with plenty of space and a welcome atmosphere for us weekend campers as well.

The Park is a very nice, quiet park with a very friendly staff, plenty of shade for most sites, a good clean bathhouse, and an overall very pleasant experience- & at a great price ($30 for our basic hookup site). They have a good pier (with plenty of nice crabs being caught by trap & string alike- fishing sounded a little iffy because tide is so low), and the kayak/canoe access was easy, and convenient to a good channel for fishing. While we did not see a playground/pool for our kids, that is not something my family was looking for- the pier, the water, and easy access to the beach are what we came for. We do wish they allowed pitted campfires, which is a big deal for my s'more loving family. They're just a short drive to Atlantic Beach & Morehead City, and the setting was fantastic. We'll be back.

We really like this campground- the setting is great, the pier and water access to the river for kayaking is easily accessible and beautiful. The sites are well maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The bathhouse is clean, the pool nice, the playground up-to-date, and there is a little catch & release pond. The riverfront setting is close to New Bern, and about an hour from the ocean (we enjoyed both when we stayed). Overall, the campground is quite nice. We did look at this site to stay in again over Labor Day, but found the price just too much- it was easily the most expensive campground we explored in the central coastal area of NC, which is why we gave it an 8.
