About vwbluestar

Have been RVing for 45 years, starting with a cabover camper on a pickup. Husband and I fully retired in 2003 with the idea of seeing as much of our fantastic country as possible. Enjoy reading and submitting the reviews. The reviews are very helpful in choosing where we decide to stay.

River Breeze RV Resort, Ehrenberg, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This was a our first time for this park. Very nice park. Very friendly, helpful staff. Appear to be quite a few long term residents, but park is well kept and neat. Very nice fenced grassy dog park. Four-legged baby loved it.

We only spent one night on our way home, but will definitely stay again when we come this way. We camped at River Breeze RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to I-10 and Flying J truck stop, with RV island. Easy on, easy off if you don't mind the darned round about. We always fill there before going in to California, since there is about a 50-80 cent price difference.

If interested in history and have the time, there is a memorial 10-15 miles north of the park where Japanese American citizens were "relocated" during World War II. Google Poston AZ for more information.

Lake O'Neill FamCamp (Military FamCamp), Oceanside, California

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This a great campground for the military. Although, they still have not leveled the sites, even though many reviews (this site and military reviews) have complained. Sewer connection is quite a ways from the electric, so need long hose.

You can request specific sites, when making reservations. There are a couple of large trees, pine needles really messy, so if you have roof top satellite, better to ask for 50-52 or 55-59. 55-59 appear to be the most level of the sites. We camped at Lake O'Neill FamCamp (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Arizona Oasis RV Resort , Ehrenberg, Arizona

Date of Stay: November, 2016 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We've been coming to this park for over 10 years. It has really deteriorated over the years. As stated in previous reviews, you are charged for anything extra. Since we were only staying one night, did not pay for cable or a site by the river. Were required to pay an extra $2 because we needed two WIFI connections.

It is quite convenient to I-10 and the Flying J across the highway. We camped at Arizona Oasis RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Northshore RV Resort, Needles, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

You never know quite what to expect with C2C. This is one of the much older, rundown parks. The host were very friendly, but that was about the only good thing we could find. We were able to use the WIFI from our space on the 3rd tier. Thank goodness, because upon entering the "rec room", was met with a smell was totally nauseating. A combination of mold and other unknown smells. As for the "dog beach", it is down some quite steep steps really not accessible for a 70+ person and a 13+ dog.

We were luckily put in space where our satellite worked. I cannot imagine having to watch the news in the foul smelling rec room.

We will not return. We camped at Northshore RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are not a boater, there is not a lot to do in Needles unless you drive 20 miles to Laughlin. If possible, do NOT get gas in Needles. We were headed east and noticed the price for gas in Needles was $3.79. At the Pilot station at the 9mm in AZ, gas was $1.99. 80 cents for a large tank really adds up.

Bakersfield River Run RV Park, Bakersfield, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. We had originally requested a site back up to the river, however upon arriving saw there wasn't any water in the river. We were assigned a pull-through with no problem.

Some noise from US 99 and a construction lot next door, but not bad.

Very nice pool and spa and rec room.

Sites are level, but the curb to get in is rather hard. We have seen this in a couple of parks.

WIFI and cable were excellent.

Not sure how parks can accomplish speed control without the speed bumps, but most drivers seem to think it is the Indy 500. Too many pets and children to be driving like that. We camped at Bakersfield River Run RV Park in a Motorhome.

Can feel as if GPS was wrong, but park entrance is at the end of the street.

This is a beautiful, well maintained gated resort. It has a very nice grassy dog run.

Beautiful pool and spa.

Cable and WIFI worked great. Registration was quick and personnel very friendly and courteous.

We would definitely stay here again. We camped at The Lakes RV & Golf Resort in a Motorhome.

Flag City RV Resort, Lodi, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice park. Would have given it a 10 if it had had grass as shown in the pictures. The laundry room was excellent. It does work on the card system, but you are refunded the deposit and any money left when you are done. Washers were $1.25 and dryers $1.00 and dried completely.

Cable was excellent and we had no problem with the WIFI as previously reviewed and was told on check in that it might be slow because the park is at almost capacity every night. Our site was about as far from the office as it could be, but still no problem.

The pool and spa were immaculate.

All in all a very pleasant stay and we will come again if in the area. We camped at Flag City RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Town of Lodi is about 5 miles east of the park. Quaint little town. There is a brand new Wal-Mart Supercenter on the west edge of town. GPS and Wal-Mart atlas didn't even show a Supercenter in Lodi. There was also a Safeway in the same area.

Flying J and Love's are directly across the highway. Several fastfood restaurants close.

Aurora RV Park and Marina, Nice, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived early Saturday afternoon on Labor Day weekend and was greeted by a gentleman that said not to worry about paying until we left. We did have reservations. We never did register. When we got ready to leave on Tuesday morning, still could not find a manager to pay. Rate on their website said $36 a day before Good Sam discount, so taped a check to managers door and left.

It was mentioned in previous reviews about "great cable and WIFI". The cable did not work and no one at the park could explain how to make it work. WIFI was sporadic. Since we did not register and receive any instructions, had to find the original gentleman and ask for the password. We were forced to use our "Hotspot" frequently to contact family.

Not sure what the schedule for trash pick up was, but the dumpster was overflowing with more trash stacked around the dumpster. The grounds were also filthy. Our poor "four-legged" baby came back from walks with numerous burrs.

We will not return. We camped at Aurora RV Park and Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a Super Wal-Mart at the other end of the lake, which is quite a drive. However, this is an older Wal-Mart that has been converted to a Super Wal-Mart. The grocery section is very limited. Ray's Market across the street from Wal-Mart is quite pricey.

Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park, Garberville, California

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

The stay was basically a nightmare. The address says Garberville, but is about 8 miles south of the town. WIFI did NOT work. Was told "someone" had used all the bandwith and they could not reactivate. Was told it would be up and working the day after we arrived, but that never happened. Verizon Hotspot did not work either. Was told AT&T doesn't work at all there. We could at least make and receive calls. Was able to get the Hotspot about 5 miles south at the Piercy turnoff.

Park is next to a gas station/truck stop so a lot of noise from there and also the Hwy 101.

Grounds needed a lot of cleanup and men's bathroom close to RV parking had a sign that said the sink was broke and to use the main bathroom. A lot of older permanent rigs were parked around the grounds.

We will not return. We camped at Richardson Grove Campground & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Suggest doing any shopping before reaching the area. Garberville had a lot of transients and was extremely expensive, ie $3.89 for 1/2 gallon of milk.

Not a lot to do in the area. The Grandfather Tree across the highway was interesting.

Driftwood RV Park, Brookings, Oregon

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Park was convenient to the harbor. WIFI worked extremely well.

Follow your own directions for backing into a site. Gentleman who guided us, and we watched many others, had us backing and pulling forward numerous times to get in to our space.

Our site was basically level, although observed many others that were not. Sites on the far south side would not be roof satellite friendly. We assumed we'd be given a 50 amp because of the size of our rig. Did not think to ask and wound up with 30 amp even though there were 50 available. We could have asked to be moved, but had already set up, when we discovered the mistake. Also, appeared the 50 amp sites were not as level as the one we were assigned. Odd configuration for sewer connections as mentioned in previous reviews.

Appeared to be quite a few long time residents. Price was reasonable, considering the location and what other parks in the area charged. We camped at Driftwood RV Park in a Motorhome.

McCloud RV Resort, McCloud, California

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

Agree with previous reviewers. The setup is quite unusual. We chose this park because it had the best rating in the area. Not saying much for the rest of the area. Our first mistake was asking for a pull-through, since we were only going to be here 2 nights. We were assigned a space at the far end of the park with many trees, thus our satellite would not work. Our site was somewhat unlevel and gave up, since we were only here for 2 nights.

WIFI was extremely slow and kept getting kicked off. Finally gave up on it. When making the reservation, asked about the WIFI and was told: "Depends on how full the park is." If we had been told our space was as far as possible from the antenna, would have asked for a closer space even if it was a back in. Did notice, as mentioned by others, some spaces were extremely close and trees could cause a problem.

Not finding anything in the "instructions" regarding washing vehicles, spouse was washing front of rig. Maintenance came by and said: "OK to wash, just don't use soap." Nothing mentioned anywhere. Guess they do need to put everything in writing.

Will not visit this park again. We camped at McCloud RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. A lot of permanent residents, but well kept and quiet. Wifi worked great. Park is convenient to everything.

All the sites appeared to run low in the front. To have been completely level, would have made our step quite high, so made do with being somewhat low.
