Wilderness Lakes RV Resort, Mathis, Texas

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This could be a nice park with some maintenance and effort. Roads are narrow, rutted and overgrown. With lots of large sites open, we were directed to one the was unlevel, needed limbs cut and was almost long enough. We moved to one that was narrow and infested with fire ants. Cell service is spotty, WIFI is costly and on June 27, we were denied Passport America rates although the park was half empty because it was "almost" the 4th of July. The marked exit path is a treacherous gauntlet with green posts and big rocks strategically placed to make a tight turn much worse. We won't be back. We camped at Wilderness Lakes RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Lakeside Casino Resort RV Park, Osceola, Iowa

Date of Stay: September, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a horrible place. First come, first serve so if there are any adequate sites, they are taken but there probably aren't any decent sites. Extremely narrow roads and sites make it a challenge to park without hitting another RV and staying out of the deep ruts at every corner isn't possible. Some of the electrical boxes are broken and all of the water spigots are so tall and close to the broken concrete pads that they may interfere with a bedroom slideout on the driver side. If you're in this area and can't drive on, dry-camp in the truck parking area. We camped at Lakeside Casino Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

Shenandoah Valley Campground, Verona, Virginia

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nice clean park. Easy access to I-81. No issues and no "squatters" in old RV's. Sites not very level, rain water accumulated at our door and a little traffic noise otherwise would have rated a 10. We camped at Shenandoah Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Cajun Palms RV Resort, Henderson, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2013 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This is a well-maintained park with extras like the huge pool with swim-up bar. A lot of thought must have gone into the design of this park but it apparently wasn't done by anyone who ever owned an RV. The sites are very level and not too close together but are simply too short for a motorhome towing a car, or a truck towing a trailer longer than maybe 10 feet. You must unhook even if you have a pull-through site. The concrete interior roads are too narrow; navigating to a site is a squeeze between parked RVs. Even following the kid on the guide golf cart was a challenge. The advertised Wi-Fi didn't work and one of the nice big showers was full of mud. We stopped overnight during Mardi Gras weekend and there were unsupervised children and dogs running everywhere. Driving a decorated golf cart aimlessly around the park with loud music seemed to the thing to do. Many were driven by young kids with no adult on board despite signs that all drivers were supposed to be over 21 years of age. I didn't see a staff member that was over 21. We called for a reservation and when we got there they had never heard of us. They found a spot for us near a loud sewer pump station and it would have better if they hadn't. This park may be a good place to take your kids and let them run loose - not a good place for an overnight stop. We camped at Cajun Palms RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Elephant Butte Lake RV Resort, Elephant Butte, New Mexico

Date of Stay: October, 2009 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

We've been to Truth or Consequences several times and stayed in other parks. This one is the best in town. There is no grass but the park is very clean and well-maintained. The pull-through sites are laid out in an odd fashion but there's always a friendly guide on a golf cart to help you park. The park owner and the office work-campers were also very friendly. The rate posted is for Passport America members. When we are back in the area, this is where we will stay from now on. We camped at Elephant Butte Lake RV Resort in a Motorhome.
