This is an EXCELLENT park. It was renovated in October 2010 and has a nice paved road, full sewer (yes, a Florida State Park with sewer), level, wide sites, no ruts, very friendly staff. Clean bathrooms. Watch out for high water pressure. We have already made plans to visit again. Do not overlook this park if you are in the area. It is a short trip off I-10.

We are local and have visited the in-laws when they stayed here so I knew what to expect. I really don't have any complaints. The sites are a little tight and the roads a little narrow. Staff are friendly and keep the grounds clean. Wi-Fi was a little lacking. The first night I could not get on any of the three wireless access points (WAPs), but the other nights I was able to connect at 11 Mbps, which is better than most others I've tried. The cost per night is with the Good Sam/AAA discount. We had site #6. I will be visiting this park again mainly because, as I said, we are local.

This is an excellent campground. Good size sites. Open. Lake front sites are great. Friendly staff. Roads are good. I don’t understand other reviewers who take off points for barking dogs or arriving after dark. That is not the campground’s fault. If I don’t like someone’s dog barking I politely talk to the person myself. I certainly don’t expect anyone else to do it. Now, if you ask the CG staff person to ask them to stop the barking and they don’t, that’s a different story. Anyway, this is a wonderful, family-friendly place and we will definitely be back again. Being able to make reservations would be better, but first come first serve is fine.

It is a very nice campground. The staff is friendly, mostly. The Sites are small, and very close together. The main reason for points off: the literature (PDF file) from the campground states lake "front" not lake "view". However, the on-line order system does state lake "view," not "front". Still, I think it was misleading, at the very least confusing. When I politely asked the staff about this, one of the ladies was quite rude. I realize they probably get the question a lot, but that only means they need to clarify it for the consumer. Their PDF map clearly states lake "front." Also, I had to inflate all the balls for the kids to play with. Would it have taken that long to put air in the balls for a playground you advertise as kid-friendly? Minor point, but I disdain campgrounds that tout kid-friendly, but have the bare minimums. Conversely, the rec room was EXCELLENT. Air hockey, Foosball, ping pong, wer all free. The game equipment was adequate. Finally, we arrived late on a rainy night before Thanksgiving and one staffer and another camper were very helpful in getting me backed-in. Overall, we very satisfied, and we would go back now that we understand that our site was lake view.

This is a beautiful campground. The beach was gorgeous (driving distance, but within the state park). We live in N. FL and are very beach spoiled! We camped in site #122 toward the West end where the sites are a bit more private (grown in between) and we loved it. Right up to the Grand Lagoon as we expected. We have a three-year-old and the playground we very nice, well kept. Staff were friendly. We were surprised we were able to level the trailer without blocks. I mean level. At first we thought we'd have a hard time on the sand, but we found the sweet spot. We arrived after dark, but took it really slow and did not have any problems. Our trailer is 26 feet (30 total). Really minor, if you want a campfire, bring your own wood. The CG wood is not seasoned and smoked a lot, but did not burn well. Side note: We went during the weekend of the Florida Iron man, which was a huge event. Miles 18-20 or so went a bit through the park (not really the CG itself), and the organization/traffic control was outstanding. Hats of to PCB police, Bay County Sheriff, Iron man staff for that. Stay at this park and you won't be disappointed, but get the water view if you can. We can't wait to get back.

I gave this park an 8 for a few reasons: (1) the signage was lacking miserably. The map provided looked like an 8th generation copy and was just as bad. After check-in we drove around and ended up at the edge of the property. We had to back up our 30 footer (total length) and luckily some grounds men in a cart escorted us to our site; (2) They advertise Wi-Fi and it did work, but was spotty and dropped out several times (luckily our cell phone doubles as a decent modem). If a campground advertises Wi-Fi, I believe it should work all the time and at every site, not just the main building, unless they specify that in their ads or Web site; (3) Upon check-in I requested we receive our 10 percent Good Sam's or AAA discount. I was told by the attendant (I will not use her name, but it was not the owner), that "since there is no balance on your account, we can't give you the 10 percent refund." I asked the same girl again on check-out and was denied. I subsequently called the owner later in the week and she refunded the 10 percent, but I should not have had to take the extra step. Though it was a minimal effort, it is the principal. (4) The store counter girl (same girl as check-in) was not very friendly. She was cordial, but very cold and stoic. I don't expect a welcoming parade, but a "glad you're here, have a great visit" would have been nice; (5) We were assigned a site at check-in. I saw another camper was offered to choose his own site at check-in (by another attendant) and this really bothered me, because (5) we were assigned a site next to a group of guys who brought their very loud karaoke system with them. Very nice guys, but I really didn't care to hear them sing all the time. They could be heard throughout the whole park - no exaggeration - and the owners did not say a thing. I’m sure if we had complained, the owners would have said something to them. We arrived on Friday and they did not begin their songs until Saturday. Since we were leaving Sunday, there was no sense in moving sites, but there were 10 (I counted) empty sites next to us, and more in other areas, and the girl put us right on top of each other. This park also offers ATV trails. I suggested to the owner that they think about separating the ATV sites with the non-ATV sites, since I would rather wake up to birds chirping than the rumbling of the engines. Finally, for $45/night, I expect cable. Having provided the negatives here are the positives. The owner was very friendly and as I said, promptly refunded the 10 percent discount. I addressed my concerns to her in a call and followed up by e-mail and she seemed genuinely concerned. The festivities they had planned for celebrating Halloween were very kid oriented and we have a three-year-old son, so it was great. They had candy bar bingo, putt-putt golf, an inflatable bouncy house, a pancake breakfast, and more. Simple stuff, but good for kids. Other features include a very nice playground - either very new or very well maintained - two nice lakes (large ponds) for fishing, a huge water slide and a swimming area, though it was closed this weekend, which we knew. Our site was very flat and required very little leveling. Water, electricity and sewer hook ups worked fine. This CG could easily be a 10 if the fixed just a few things. We would stay there again.

Very nice park. Well shaded and VERY private. You cannot even see your next door neighbors. Walking distance or bike ride to the beach, though it is a long walk. We drove since we have a three-year-old. Good for kids. Lots of places to walk or ride bikes. General store is good. The beach is excellent. We live in N. FL so we are kind of spoiled with beaches. This one is very nice. Friendly staff.

A very nice KOA for what it is. KOA's are generally large parking lots and each one varies with the amount of green space. This one has decent green space. We stayed for free in our new travel trailer from the Suncoast RV dealer. The bath house was very clean. It has a nice, well kept pool. I knocked of two stars for (1) the kids playground was decrepit and not usable, and (2) the roads were way to small. I realize this is a commercial venture and more spaces means more business, but at some point these narrow roads become a safety issue. I would stay here again. In fact we are in April 2010.
