Lake Ouachita State Park, Mountain Pine, Arkansas

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Wow! Our campsite was beautiful and just on the lake. Motorhome should probably use areas B and C. No phones or OTA tv. Internet was available in the office. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Bad weather was coming in one night and a ranger came by notifying each camper. The lake is wonderful. We stopped here for the geo float trail. We couldn't locate the map but the hosts found a ranger who had a copy. We camped at Lake Ouachita State Park in a Motorhome.

Find a map for the geo float trail. It is about 13 miles but you can paddle about half the tour from the campground. A motorized boat can make all the points. Hot Springs is close.

Gunter Hill COE, Montgomery, Alabama

Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $26.00

We camped in the CATOMA section. It was well kept, paved, and full hookup. The other section is wooded and has some sites that will work for a motorhome. We camped at Gunter Hill COE in a Motorhome.

Lake Guntersville State Park, Guntersville, Alabama

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

We had to change our dates arriving due to a hurricane we were avoiding. We were unable to have the site we reserved but the office staff found us another site on the water. Our site wasn't paved but was just as nice, otherwise. Check in was very organized and quick. Our campsite had a washed out corner but still space for our rv. Utilities worked though placement of the sewer was slightly farther than other places we've stayed. Trees are still small since replanting. Some of the best bathhouse we've used. Hiking and boating are great. We camped at Lake Guntersville State Park in a Motorhome.

Tims Ford State Park, Winchester, Tennessee

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

On our second visit to this state park and camping at the Fairview, Devils Step side we found the park has changed much. Overall, the State Park would get a very high rating from me. The employees are wonderful and helped us often. We love the hiking trails. The Fairview Campground is horrible. It was good a year ago. The roads have washed out and holes have been filled with sandbags. I do understand that people can trash a bathroom and that's beyond a host's control but the trashed bathhouse should never stay that way for over 24 hours. One shower stall smelled of urine. Another shower stall had a questionable solid on the bench and floor for at least two days. Since we are a 36' motorhome and can't easily fit in the main state park, we won't be returning. We camped at Tims Ford State Park in a Motorhome.

Fort Massac State Park, Metropolis, Illinois

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Campsites were all level with easy access roads from the highway. There were just enough trees to add shade without hitting the RV. Water spigot are placed around the campground for everyone's use. No sewer or water on the sites. A long trail travels through the park. Some sections appeared overgrown while some sections were cleared and some even paved. Many locals seemed to use the park for exercise. The disc golf course looked nice. Metropolis has grocery, gas, and some restaurants. Paducah has most any other store you might need. The only problem we experienced was with the bathhouse. The men's side seemed to back up as men waited for the one flushing toilet with a door. We tried two other restrooms and those too lacked doors. There was a chemical toilet located in the campground but I never saw anyone going in or out. Check in with campground host or go to site and host will check with you. Exit interstate and drive toward Metropolis. Do not follow a GPS that takes you on the other side. There is not a road on that side that is suitable for RVs. We camped at Fort Massac State Park in a Motorhome.

St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park, Saint Peters, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice city park about 30 minutes from St Louis. The campsites are somewhat close together but did allow enough space to open sliders and awnings. Campsites are in many small loops. I only saw one bathhouse. It had men's and women's side with toilets and sinks and two shower rooms off to the side. A laundry is also located there. The office is open 24 hours. The hiking/biking trail is very nice. The campground is clean and attractive. The only negatives were the constant sun because of rv direction and no trees and that mosquitoes were bad as soon as the sun set. To get to St Louis take 370 to 270 to 170 to 70. Lots of places to shop or eat everywhere. We camped at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park in a Motorhome.

Ray Behrens COE, Monroe City, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

This campground was quiet and sites were well spaced. Sites seemed to all be very level in the LBLS section. Utilities worked well. Several bathhouse are located in the campground. The one next to our site was older but in working order and clean. Various employees patrolled the area and the entire campground is gated. There are several hiking trails through the sections. There didn't seem to be any lake access sites. Some smaller stores are located on Route "J" but you'll have to go to Hannibal for bigger stores. See the visitor center near the dam, Florida and Hannibal, and Monroe City. We camped at Ray Behrens COE in a Motorhome.

Watkins Woolen Mill State Park, Lawson, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

Nice enough campground with mostly unpaved sites. We moved from site 94 because a corner was washed out and the gravel mound was too uneven or small for our motorhome. Moved to site 76 which was level and paved. Wonderful bathhouse. 50 or more channels OTA. No sewers or water in sites. We camped at Watkins Woolen Mill State Park in a Motorhome.

Cherryvale COE Park, Cherryvale, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a smaller camping area on Big Hill Lake. It is a self check in section. The lakeside campsites cost more but don't have a better view or access. The swimming area and hosts are located at the campground on the other side of the lake. The campsite was paved and level. The patio and picnic table were in a good area close to the RV. A hiking trail is located by the lake. It looks like improvements are being made with the addition of the horse area. The flies were horrible! We wanted to play at the Frisbee golf area but couldn't find a map of the course. Follow directions from Cherryvale. Signs for this campground weren't found from the east side. We camped at Cherryvale COE Park in a Motorhome.

Cricket Creek COE, Omaha, Arkansas

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $21.00
Overall Rating:

There wasn't much to do in this park. The campsites seemed very close together over labor day weekend. The bathhouse wasn't big enough with only four rooms. Each room contained a toilet, sink, shower, and small bench. Most sites did not have a view of the lake. People parked everywhere with trucks and boats. Getting out in our motorhome was very difficult. We camped at Cricket Creek COE in a Motorhome.

Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, Delhi, Louisiana

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

Our site turned out to be more uneven than most and we had to raise the back of our motorhome two inches. There was also a steep drop off from the pavement to the ground. The picnic table was also placed oddly in campsite. Most other sections were better campsites but less woods and privacy. Hiking and biking were very good but there was not water access from campground. The bathhouse was great! The girl working the office didn't seem interested in the park or activities. We camped at Poverty Point Reservoir State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice, basic campground. We had some problems with a hole a positioning in campsite but, with some work, managed a great position. We were right on the lake. There were playgrounds around. Many people used the roads for running and biking. The hosts were wonderful. Bathhouse is lacking but the chemical toilet near us was clean. We camped at Twiltley Branch COE in a Motorhome.

Double D RV Park, Texola, Oklahoma

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $12.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for one night as we were traveling through the area. We were very surprised at how much better this campground was over the typical "one night pass through." A nice, large parking lot is located just off I-40. We were not bothered by interstate noise even sleeping with windows open! Check in is at the gas station. The sites are grass/gravel and are somewhat close if the place is full. We didn't have anyone on either side of us in site 14. Some people there seem to be long-term but not many. The bathhouse is located on the side of the restaurant and were shared with the restaurant. Laundry was also available. One washer worked easily but the broken lid of the other took some work to get the washer to work. Only one dryer was working but I had the laundry to myself as was able to get all our clothes cleaned and dried. We did not experience any problems with noise or dogs here. The restaurant was a nice change from our camper food! We camped at Double D RV Park in a Motorhome.

Palo Duro Canyon State Park, Canyon, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here for three nights in the Hackberry section. This section is before any of the creek/river crossings. Bridge construction closed one end of the loop. The sites 1-9 had a nicer view, especially 7-9. Those sites also had fewer trees and seemed to have more space. Site 19 had just enough space for us to almost open our awning fully. The picnic table is located in the back. The bathhouses were well maintained except for one broken light on the women's side. I was told by the volunteer that the light was broken. Therefore, the bathhouse was pretty dark inside at night. The trails are great hiking. The store seemed to be well stocked. Meals were also available there. Internet is available at the park office but Verizon phones required a drive out of the park and down the road a few miles. We were able to get radio and satellite TV in our campsite. The park is used by many locals for hiking, running, and cycling. The park is very well run. There was always a ranger, volunteer, or host available. We camped at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.
