Fairway RV Park, Ellsworth, Kansas

Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Just posting that this is still an RV park and is open, since no reviews since 2009. $20 is for electric only as other utilities are questionable or non-existant depending on site. No facilities as far as I could see. Sewer connection in ground. Owner asks that you are careful not to drive over them. Just open hole in the grass. Mostly long-term I think. We are happy to be here since another park in Salina couldn't give us a site where our rooftop satellite would work. Here we are on a site right along the road and very open. Luckily we had water onboard. 50 amp outlets / need adapter for 30. OK for an overnight stay. Park is on frontage road just past John Deere. We camped at Fairway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lake Farm County Park, Madison, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We always stay here when we need to be in Madison, if 2 week limit is enough. Lovely big sites, most satellite friendly. Electric only, so fill your water tanks. A few sites can reach a water spigot w/ a long hose, for refill only. Very clean bathrooms. About 8 private shower rooms plus a family room. 2 nice playgrounds, on a bike path, a mile from Lake Wabesa accessable by road or trail. RSVP online. Very busy football weekends. We camped at Lake Farm County Park in a Motorhome.

City of Canton - Mississippi River Park, Canton, Missouri

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

This is a really fun little municipal campground where you can watch barges come/go through a lock; right there to your left. We saw a big paddle wheel tourist steamboat go up river this year. There are no facilities, so you must be self-contained. There's a nice playground. The park gets busy on weekends. Check the board for RSVPs before you select a spot. A few trees but none to block satellite access. All sites have a fire pit. There is also a busy, small ferry going back and forth to Illinois to your left, but weekdays only I believe. We camped at City of Canton - Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

City of Pittsburg RV Park, Pittsburg, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Good spot if you need to be in Pittsburg. Only one other rig when we were there and then just one of the nights. Big paved lot and private with woods behind with a mobile home sales lot across the street. Some road noise to the north, else all quiet and peaceful. Totally open, no shade, but great for satellite dishes. No restrooms. You must be self-contained. Dump available and it is included in fee. We camped at City of Pittsburg RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mound Valley COE, Cherryvale, Kansas

Date of Stay: September, 2012 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

We have a satellite dish on the roof for internet and DirecTV. The only sites that would work for us are 89 and 90. All other site are lovely wooded sites but very tree-filled lake edges, so no big open views of the lake, except for the sites 1-8 loop for tents. Heavy use for boaters. The Cherryvale Campground has only wooded sites or clearer w/o electric. 89 and 90 are the only sites w/e/sewer. $10 is the Senior Pass fee. Normal fee is double or a little more. We camped at Mound Valley COE in a Motorhome.

Stop N Dock Marina, Two Rivers, Wisconsin

Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

We spent the whole summer here. Rate reflects Passport America rate. This is a rare park where you can use the PA rate as long as you wish if space available (and there usually is) and can / are encouraged to make RSVPs. The view along the West Twin River is lovely...gulls, heron, geese, ducks, turtles, muskrat. There are empty docks you can walk out. Kids are welcome, but nothing special for them to do, save for walking out the creaky docks and watching birds. Bring their bikes and take them to the trails. Not much for shade, some trees along the edges. Good for satellite access. Very quiet and private. We camped at Stop N Dock Marina in a Motorhome.

Elephant Butte Lake State Park, Lions Beach Campground, Elephant Butte, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2012 - $14.00
Overall Rating:

We stay at the South Monticello Camping Area in spring and fall. Beautiful sites with great views of the lake and hills across the way. Roadrunners, fun. Big open sites with a covered picnic table area, big clean restrooms, a dump station, and hiking trails. There is a boat ramp, but the lake has been too low the last year to use it. Great for satellite dishes. Some sites are reservable in peak times. We camped at Elephant Butte Lake State Park, Lions Beach Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stay here on our way in/out of Mexico. Rate is Passport America rate for off season. No facilities, must be self-contained. Hiking trails from the park. Nice big laundry. Quiet, remote, yet close to shopping to stock up. We camped at Justin's Diamond J RV Park in a Motorhome.

Color Marina Seaside Hotel & RV Park (formerly Villas Onac) CLOSED, Teacapán, Sinaloa

Date of Stay: April, 2012 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

We love it here and are going back for our 5th winter. I agree w/ everything the above review says. Beautiful beach, cool clean usually empty pool, 9 villas sparsely furnished in the kitchen dept .. but that MAY change as the Canos sold the park to a Mazatlan venu in spring and they may update the villas. Rates will stay the same for 2012-13 for sure for RV sites. They will also add a small restaurant this year, according to FaceBook. Mostly Canadians, the token Americans, us. Not all beach lots are reserved anymore .. A monthly rate comes to about $13 per day at current rates. $4080p a month. The Canos took the washer/dryer, but expect them to be replaced. No vendors, no worries, lovely quiet safe, friendly spot. The Canos sold the 5 gallon jugs of water for 12p and expect that to continue, so you don't need to treat and drink your own water. But water is quite good and we use it as is for dishes and teeth brusching, etc. Road in can be very rough in Nov, but does get grated eventually. Lovely area, all pepper and tomato and tomatillo fields you can watch all winter. Fish guy comes every week .. fresh fish and shrimp. No veg truck in recent years .. wahhh ... I expect the website listed does not work anymore, don't know about the phone. Just come ... there are always sites available ... often even beach front sites. We camped at Color Marina Seaside Hotel & RV Park (formerly Villas Onac) CLOSED in a Motorhome.
