Inks Lake State Park, Burnet, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

This is a beautiful park with great facilities and lots to do (30/50 AMP, water but no sewer). There is camping, backpacking, hiking, geocaching, swimming, boating and fishing. Most campsites have good spacing from neighbors and some shade. There is lots of interesting geology and wildlife. There is a small grocery store, as well as canoe, kayak, and paddle boat rentals. Campsites are in good shape and close to the water. It is a very popular park, so reservations are recommended for weekends and holidays. We camped at Inks Lake State Park in a Motorhome.

Mueller State Park, Divide, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

I camped in site #89 (30 amp electric only). Water tank fill stations on road to campsite. Be sure to fill up your tank because there is no water at your site in this park. It's a beautiful park with great hiking and abundant wildlife. It is not dog friendly but pets are allowed. Due to the remote location outside contact is limited. I was unable to get phone, Internet, TV, or radio at my site. It's a nice place but a little too remote for me. We camped at Mueller State Park in a Motorhome.

Pepper Pod, Hudson, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

This little campground is trying to rebuild. It still needs a lot of work but the management is making progress. All utilities worked as they should. I would say it is still run down but it's a campground with a heart!! The staff and full timers I met were very friendly. I stayed here for a week while visiting family in the area. I would stay here again when I return. We camped at Pepper Pod in a Motorhome.

Lamar Sportsman's RV Center and Horse Motel, Lamar, Colorado

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

I have to say that I didn't stay at this park. I had looked at past reviews and because I was passing through the area for the first time, planned to stay here for the night. I called ahead of time and asked for a pull through with full hook-ups. The guy I talked to indicated that that would not be a problem.

When I arrived at about 3PM I was met in the office by a lady who told me to just go pick a site and let her know which one I took. I asked if they had cable TV and she said she wasn't sure but she knew that some campers used satellite dishes, not a warm feeling. We agreed in the office that I would take site 39 on the end near the exit. I drove around from the office to the site and found that it was to short for my 36' MH with out disconnecting my tow. I then circled the campground and found that ALL sites were to short. I returned to the office and explained that I couldn't find a site. The lady said why don't you take off your tow? I asked for a refund and left. I'll never stop here again. We camped at Lamar Sportsman's RV Center and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

Cleburne State Park, Cleburne, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good state park and is well maintained. However, I limit my rating as several of the Premium sites are not good. We camped in site 57 which was a scenic site on the water but the pad was on such an angle we could not level the motorhome. Finally went to Wal-Mart and bought 6 pavers to put under the rear jacks in order to level (the rear tires were about 6" off the ground on both sides). Site 58 across from us was the same as far as unlevel. In addition the sewer connection was some distance from the pad and uphill ??? Not sure who laid this campground out but it was not a 'camper'. WiFi in the bath house didn't work most of the time and when it did it was a weak signal. Phone reception was poor and trees prevented sat reception. North Creek campground (no sewer) was better.... I would not recommend this park nor will I stay here again. We camped at Cleburne State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Texas State Parks do not allow you to reserve a specific site so it's important to come a day early if you want a specific site.

Texan RV Ranch, Mansfield, Texas

Date of Stay: May, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Park has new owners who increased the rates to $46.00 per night. This is a clean park with a lot of full time residents. The WiFi is not good and either does not allow you to connect or stay connected. If you are lucky and get connected it is very slow. While this is a good park it is over priced for what you get. I will look for another park next time I pass through. We camped at Texan RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Branson Shenanigans RV Park, Branson, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2016 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is an outstanding little park nestled in the hills and trees just off the Yellow route in Branson, two blocks from the strip, but it feels like you are totally isolated. The owners, along with their manager, are very friendly make you feel like family from the moment you drive up. Sites are cut into the hillside and although it seems tight to navigate the rear of the campground up on the hill is my favorite. This is a great place to base while in Branson. We camped at Branson Shenanigans RV Park in a Motorhome.

Whip In RV Park, Big Spring, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

I give this RV park high marks for easy access from I-20 although the entrance is on Moss Lake Rd not 7000 I-20 Service Rd as noted on their website. The park is mostly occupied by long term workers with a few sites for an overnight guest, and the spaces are extremely tight when your slide outs are extended. The staff is friendly and helpful but it should be noted that the WiFi is virtually nonexistent even on the sites next to the office. Also of note is the cable TV. According to he owner it is a new digital cable but will not work on many TVs. My motorhome is a 2008 model with a flat screen TV yet I was unable to get the cable to work. The owner tried to help but said I just need to get a newer TV? I have not experienced problems at any other RV park so I'm baffled. Bottom line, this is OK for overnight but I'll look elsewhere on my next trip through this area. We camped at Whip In RV Park in a Motorhome.

Cowtown RV Park, Aledo, Texas

Date of Stay: March, 2015 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

This is one of the better RV Parks near Fort Worth, That being said it leaves a lot to be desired. It has a paved interior road down the middle but most of the sites are on gravel roads. That wouldn't be so bad if the management would keep them up. Be prepared to shake everything you have in your rig when you drive down these roads even at the posted 7 mph speed limit. They say they don't fill the huge pot holes to keep the traffic slow??? These are some of the worst roads I've taken my rig on. In addition, the cable TV here is the worst. You are OK if you have your own satellite dish. In fact, if you want to watch TV you better have your own dish. On the bright side, the restrooms and laundry facilities are very clean. This is an OK place for a day or two. I'll try to find another RV Park the next time I come through the area. We camped at Cowtown RV Park in a Motorhome.

Texan RV Ranch, Mansfield, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is a good RV Park. Restrooms are clean and all utilities work as they should. It is close to the southern part of the metroplex and easy to access from US 287. The staff are friendly and they seem to take good care of the facility and grounds. Would stay here again. We camped at Texan RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Cowtown RV Park, Aledo, Texas

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is the weekly rate. The campground is well maintained. Most of the sites are filled with permanent residents. The staff is not all that friendly and strictly enforce the campground rules, which is not a problem. The cable tv is a total joke….. I had them check it but for the duration of my stay it did not work well. I finally just used my regular antenna w/ very limited channels. The restrooms were well maintained and all the other utilities work OK except for the WIFI. In this case, the signal showed to be strong but was extremely slow. I’m not sure I would highly recommend this place and would only stay here again if there were no other options. We camped at Cowtown RV Park in a Motorhome.
