Porcupine Campground - USFS, Hope, Alaska

Date of Stay: July, 2009 - $11.00
Overall Rating:

We camped here several times during our last trip to Alaska. It is one of our favorites in Alaska. Unfortunately, we were told by the hosts that the campground will undergo major renovations and will be closed during 2010. Check before going. We camped at Porcupine Campground - USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

Teklanika Campground (NPS Campground), Denali National Park, Alaska

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $16.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed 7 nights in this CG. A 3 night minimum is required. We think this is the only CG to stay in when visiting Denali. The convenience of using the shuttle busies to get around is great. Make sure you purchase the Camper bus pass when you make your reservations. There is water available and the new toilets should be completed for the 2010 season. The hiking is great, whether on the few established trails or cross country. We camped at Teklanika Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Chilkoot Lake State Recreation Site, Haines, Alaska

Date of Stay: May, 2009 - $10.00
Overall Rating:

This is a wonderful CG about 10 miles from Haines. Good fishing for Dolly Varden in the river exiting the lake. The sites are well spaced out and the vault toilets were well maintained. If you arrive by the ferry, turn right out of the ferry lot. Left takes you into Haines. Some of the pull through sites are a little narrow for big rigs, but there are many back in sites which would accommodate them. We camped at Chilkoot Lake State Recreation Site in a Fifth Wheel.
