Southern Living RV Park, Greenwood, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

I am not sure what this person was thinking when they built this park. There is not a level site on the entire place. It sits next to the interstate at a truck stop off ramp. All night I could hear Jake Breaks. Our driver side wheels were 8" in mud, the roads are so narrow that a compact car could not navigate this place. As the last review stated then there is the Trains! It sounds as if they are in your space. In three years of traveling I assure you this is by far the worse we have encountered! The owner could care less, he only wants long term pipe liners in here, and believe me there are a bunch of them. No criteria on what the RV looks like and how many people live in them. Absolute terrible! We camped at Southern Living RV Park in a Motorhome.

Mustang Hollow Campground (formerly Lake Corpus Christi Mathis KOA), Mathis, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

Ok, now I know the previous reviews were bad and we should have taken the time and drove on to San Antonio. But, we read the last review and decided to see this "rustic" park. I am not sure what their term of rustic is but this is not my idea of it. The roads are horrible, we are in a bus not a covered wagon. The sites are somewhat level but very narrow. We were in "A" Section near the train tracks. And yes, it did pass through three times that night. They begin blowing the horn a couple of miles down the tracks. I am not sure about the pool comments, it has been closed for several months. The bath houses are not well maintained, I would not use them. The water does have a rotten egg odor. Our electricity was ok but there's no Wi-Fi at all. Upon arrival we were told that we could just log on to the Wi-Fi. When we attempted to talk with them about the service they told me: "It must be your computer." I have not had any problems in the past. The owner stated: "You may think about a wireless card then!" This park is not rustic by any means. This is a run-down campground, not an RV park. KOA and the hosts/owners need a refresher course on customer service. I suggest passing this one by. We camped at Mustang Hollow Campground (formerly Lake Corpus Christi Mathis KOA) in a Motorhome.

Padre Island National Seashore, Corpus Christi, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $7.00
Overall Rating:

This park is somewhat primitive but let me tell you it was nice. The sites are level. Just make sure you have a good broom as there's lots of sand. The night sky is breathtaking. We camped at Padre Island National Seashore in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice park. The site was level, and power was good. The owner was nice. We got the information from another park in Shreveport, they talked highly about this park. If you need a good, safe place to stay this is the one. We camped at Benchmark RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rocky Top Campground, Blountville, Tennessee

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

This is a very nice park. A little tight getting in but the owners were very helpful. We were enroute to Bristol and a park in Shreveport told us about this place. The power was good, easy leveling. Not many people here during this time so it was very quiet, and cold! We look forward to coming back. We camped at Rocky Top Campground in a Motorhome.

Shreveport / Bossier City KOA, Shreveport, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

I am not sure about the last review. We have been here for the past seven days and it is wonderful! The site is great, has excellent power, strong Wi-Fi and even though we have satellite, we checked out the cable TV and it is strong. By looking at the grounds you could not tell they just had over 4" of snow: that's right, in Louisiana! The bathrooms are very clean, there's a very nice laundry room, and the entire staff is very nice. This entire Park is wonderful! The sites are nice and wide, with metal tables and chairs at each site. Nice swings located through out the property. We are planning a month trip back here next winter. There is a little road noise from the main street but once we settled down we could not hear anything. We camped at Shreveport / Bossier City KOA in a Motorhome.

DiamondJacks Casino and Resort, Bossier City, Louisiana

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $54.00
Overall Rating:

Too high priced for what you get. Now if you gamble you'll get discounts. The site was level with good power, however there's no Wi-Fi or anything else for the price. We wanted to stay in the area for a week or so, but not here. The hosts were ok. We camped at DiamondJacks Casino and Resort in a Motorhome.

Miss Ellie's RV Park, Waskom, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We stopped here because we were very tired and somewhat lost. This park is very close to I-20. It's a small park that is mostly full timers and just a couple of spots near the road. Kind of tricky getting in and out with a 45' bus. The power was good, the site was level and the attendant is very nice. We would probably continue on down the road next time. We camped at Miss Ellie's RV Park in a Motorhome.

Texarkana KOA, Texarkana, Texas

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

I would have liked to give this KOA a better rating but the road noise was terrible. We could live with that but the site was not level, the Wi-Fi did not work and the park was pretty run down. The bathrooms were clean but very old. The washers had two of the front covers off as if they were being worked on. The so called RV Art store is not very well put together and mostly junk. The 50 amp power was not very strong. We camped at Texarkana KOA in a Motorhome.
