Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA), Van Horn, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

This is a former KOA but still the same campground. We have stayed here previously and really like this setup. It is all long pull-throughs and the utilities all work fine. There is an onsite small diner that we used for a nice supper. Would have had breakfast but wanted to get moving in the AM. They are now a Good Sam park. Will definitely stop here on our way back in the spring. We camped at Van Horn RV Park (formerly Van Horn KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Miss Ellie's RV Park, Waskom, Texas

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This campground was a great find for us. Easy on & off I-20. Utilities all worked fine. We had a nice easy pull-through in the front. It had a little road noise but it was warm and had the AC on so it was not a problem. The price was great for what we got. We camped at Miss Ellie's RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA , Toomsuba, Mississippi

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is a couple miles off the interstate in a rural setting. Our water and electric worked fine. There is no cable and it is not a satellite-friendly park. I would caution any big rigs because of all the trees. We have a large 5th wheel and we were very cautious. We camped at Meridian East / Toomsuba KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nashville East / Lebanon KOA (formerly Countryside Resort), Lebanon, Tennessee

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We had a full hookup pull-through. Utilities all worked fine. There is no cable but we got lots of channels out of Nashville. Staff is friendly and helpful. Park is pretty much full because of many permanent and workers at a nearby Amazon. New owners took over an older park and are trying to fix it up. We stayed there in April so we were able to compare and progress is ongoing. We camped at Nashville East / Lebanon KOA (formerly Countryside Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Asheville West KOA, Candler, North Carolina

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed in the full hook up part of the park which are all pull-throughs. Our site's electric box was a little low to the ground. Water pressure was good. The CATV box is located low on a post with the hook-up on the bottom which is a little hard to get to. The staff and check in were excellent. The exit is a little tricky if someone else is coming the other way. The CATV is a little limited for the price. When busy parking can be a problem. Still probably the best in the area. We camped at Asheville West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Fort Chiswell RV Park, Max Meadows, Virginia

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

We always stop here going to and from our winter destination. Just off I-81 but no road noise. Staff is friendly and check in easy. Utilities all worked fine. We were on a grassy site but most are gravel. There had been a lot of rain but the site had no puddles. If thinking about stopping here you should call for reservations. This place fills up every time we have been here. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Asheville West KOA, Candler, North Carolina

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

Road in is steep but doable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Utilities worked good except for the Catv hookup. It is mounted low on a board. The connection is on the bottom which makes it even lower. Interior roads are a mix of dirt and gravel and when it rains, which it did, become a little muddy. The exit is a little tricky if someone is exiting from the lowest numbered sites. As most KOA's this is a little overpriced especially as regards to the channel selection on the TV. It is limited and could use more than Fox for news. There is road noise but maybe when the trees fill in it could be reduced but it is still there. We camped at Asheville West KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Nashville East / Lebanon KOA (formerly Countryside Resort), Lebanon, Tennessee

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Despite some of the recent reviews we decided to stay here while visiting relatives in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have only owned the park since last fall. It had been for sale for a few years and is a little run down. The utilities we had ( only El and water) worked fine. The water is about a foot below ground so it could be a problem for some. It is overpriced for only those utilities and no TV. There are many permanent RV's so it borders on a trailer park. It will be interesting to check this place out after they have put some time working on it. We would stay here again. We camped at Nashville East / Lebanon KOA (formerly Countryside Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park, Mccalla, Alabama

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

This is a State park. It is really a nice place to stop for a night. Staff is helpful and friendly. We only had water and electric but the site was large enough to stay hooked up and had plenty of room. There is no TV reception to speak of and our site was not good for our sat dish. As mentioned before it is a state park so there are lots of trees which makes it somewhat big rig unfriendly. We have a 36 ft RV so we took it real slow. We camped at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park, Vicksburg, Mississippi

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

We just spent one night traveling through. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle available to take you to the casino for free. Sites are a little tight but doable. Utilities worked fine. You are on a small concrete pad. One funny thing is they want you to use your credit card and if you want to pay cash they want a 50.00 deposit. We paid by credit card and was told the rate. You pick up your receipt in the AM when leaving. Problem is they don't open until 8 AM. We left shortly after 8 so we stopped to get our receipt. The charge was now 2.50 more than we were told. When questioned about the difference they changed it back. We really don't know if it was a mistake or not, but beware. We camped at Ameristar Vicksburg RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park, Terrell, Texas

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Just stopped for one night on way thru. Office was friendly and helpful. Site was a nice long and level pull-thru. Utilities worked fine. The water hookup was a little low but manageable. A little close to I-20 so there is a little road noise but not bad. If in the area would definitely stay again. We camped at Bluebonnet Ridge RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great overnight stop. Large pull-thrus. No Catv but no trees so sat pickup is no problem. Antenna picks up lots of Spanish speaking channels. Utilities worked fine. Be careful with water pressure. Seemed high. A little walk to Camping World next door. Access road is one-way going west parallel to I-10. We camped at Anthony/El Paso West KOA (formerly American RV & Marine Resort & Rally in a Fifth Wheel.

Cedar Cove RV Park, Elephant Butte, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

We just stopped for one night on our way to Ariz. We have stayed here before and really enjoy this CG. The check in was easy and friendly. We were escorted to our nice large and level pull through. Utilities all worked well. I thought the water pressure was high which is easily adjusted. They had a little cook out the day we were there. We attended and enjoyed it. This would be a great place to stay for a while but there is not much to do in the area. We would definitely stop again We camped at Cedar Cove RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Fe Skies RV Park, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Date of Stay: November, 2014 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

Check in was okay. We were assigned a site that was already taken so we took the next one. Sites are relatively level and utilities worked fine. For what you get it is overpriced. Sites are very close together. The view is nice. Have stayed here before when passing thru area. Would probably stay again. We camped at Santa Fe Skies RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
