Aces High RV Park, East Lyme, Connecticut

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Great park. Check-in lady stayed a few minutes late to get me checked in. Huge sites, well-manicured grounds surrounded by hills so it feels like it is deep in the country. Did not like the pay showers, but they were clean and had good hot water. We camped at Aces High RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA, Bar Harbor, Maine

Date of Stay: July, 2011 - $90.00
Overall Rating:

Campground is in an excellent location. Bathrooms need work, kind of grungy even after cleaning. Honey wagon forgot to come by and empty my tanks, I wasn't charged for it, but really needed them dumped that day. My biggest gripe is that I made these reservations a full six months out and they put me in the most uneven site I've ever seen. I was supposed to be next to my father's rig and at check-in was told that I was, but this wasn't so either. No biggie, I can walk a hundred yards. The problem was the site itself. I gave it my best but could not get level. Took them 1 1/2 hours to get me a slightly more level site even though I pointed out plenty of level, empty ones. When told they were booked I took note. No one moved into them the 4 nights I was here. The staff is friendly enough and you can't beat the free shuttles taking you everywhere, but I feel with a six month reservation at a campground that was never more than 3/4 full during my stay, that I could have been granted a better site. We camped at Bar Harbor / Oceanside KOA in a Motorhome.

Normandy Farms, Foxboro, Massachusetts

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great campground. Everything is clean and well-maintained. The store and store clerks/check-in staff are excellent. Two minor issues; At check-in we were told that food was served in the snack bar until 10 pm, but grilled food was stopped at 9. The sign at the snack bar matches this. We attempted to order hot food at 8:30 and was told the grill was closed. At the laundry one morning I waited for someone to get their wet clothes out of the washers half an hour after the clothes were done. Finally I called guest services and they said to go to another laundry! I don't feel that this was the way to handle this. We camped at Normandy Farms in a Motorhome.

Cedar Point Resorts / Lighthouse Point Campground, Sandusky, Ohio

Date of Stay: June, 2011 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Enjoyed this campground. Love being right at the theme park. Hookups were in great condition and everything was landscaped. Check-in girl was amazingly cheerful. Don't really know the rate as I bought a ticket/campground combo for my family of six. We have our own MiFi, so can't comment on theirs Wi-Fi. Happy to experience this park and will return. We camped at Cedar Point Resorts / Lighthouse Point Campground in a Motorhome.

American Heritage RV Park, Williamsburg, Virginia

Date of Stay: December, 2006 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Clean and quiet. Wireless is pretty fast and there are two transmitters, so everyone gets it. Helpful, friendly staff. Cable is okay with 43 channels, but no History Channel. Lots of movie channels though (Starz and Encore) and 3 ESPN channels. Walmart, Farm Fresh, Lowes, Home Depot and multiple restaurants within five minute drive. Really peaceful here. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground, Waves, North Carolina

Date of Stay: July, 2005 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Lots to do at this park and the ocean is just over the dunes. Even had a snack bar with burgers, shrimp platters, etc right behind the beach. No shade here at all. The wireless internet is convenient. Long drive to any restaurant that isn't a pizza bar or ice cream shop. Staff was courteous too. We camped at Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground in a Motorhome.

New York City North / Newburgh KOA, Plattekill, New York

Date of Stay: July, 2005 - $52.00
Overall Rating:

Nice campground. Tour to NYC was led by a great tour guide and a friendly competent bus driver, but time was drastically cut at the Empire State Building to less than 1/2 hour (takes longer than that to get in). Time at Statue of Liberty was extremely short also. No time to do anything but briskly walk around it. I would rather get back to the campground later (say 8 pm or so) instead of at 6 pm and miss the big stuff. We camped at New York City North / Newburgh KOA in a Motorhome.

Lots of teens working the desk, horsing around and joking with each other. Sites fairly close together but adequate. Pool area and bathrooms were clean. Shuttle to Cedar Point was great. We camped at Sandusky / Bayshore KOA in a Motorhome.
