I feel that this is the best CG in the Myrtle Beach area. It is the only one that I have been to that is basically a forest, right next to the beach. Wonderful, and the rangers and volunteers do an exceptional job. The bath houses could use a little updating, but that is easily overlooked with the location and amenities of this fabulous CG. It is getting harder to reserve sites here, so book early. You will enjoy it.

Came here for a quick weekend getaway. Very nice campground. Trees everywhere, clean bathrooms, and nice people. The sites can be a little tricky to get into to, especially the pull throughs. Spent Saturday morning at the gem mine, carousal, and train which are all located in the park. Cell signal was terrible but who cares. Not to much to complain about. The dump station is in a really bad, awkward location.

This place is nice. Very peaceful and awesome sites on the water. Had the kids and the dog out there walking in the creek. NOT A KID FRIENDLY PARK!! The only thing for kids to do here is play in the creek, but for my boys that was enough. Majority of the RVers are older adults, but very friendly. You need to clean up after your dogs. I have a dog, but I clean up after him every time. Good location to see some waterfalls. Cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen at a campground in my life. Overall, it's not really a campground for under the age of 60. We probably will not return, but it is nice.

This place is awesome. Make a reservation and go! In my opinion, the BEST South Carolina SP that there is!! Where else can you go and camp and see alligators at the CG? The beach is awesome, almost every site has at least one or two trees for shade, and it is convenient to Myrtle Beach. We came back late one night (11 PM) and there was an alligator in the middle of the causeway. Too cool! I want to give this park a 10 so bad, but it has limited sewer hook-ups.

Lake Wateree is awesome! Has nice level sites, all the roads and sites are paved everywhere, and has a lot of trees providing nice shade. The CG sites are huge! Get your groceries and supplies before you come here. We went swimming all weekend at the designated swim area by the store/tackle shop. The water is nice and the bottom is sandy from the shore to about 12-14 feet out. After that, the bottom gets a little murky. I took my dog swimming for the first time. Some sites have a nice little beach right there. Sites 9 and 11 are the best. We are coming back Labor Day weekend. Can't wait. This place and Huntington Beach are my two favorite SC state parks so far. Make your reservations about a month or more before coming.

We came up to this campground for a regular weekend, and we were pretty happy overall with it. When you first turn off of I-40 you think that it is a mistake. You turn down some side streets and the campground is tucked back in the woods, not hard to find though. The good: big and level sites, sewer hookups, nice facilities for children, nice owners that work very hard on their campground. Location is great for going to South Mountains SP and Blowing Rock. The bad: you are in a valley so very little breeze, no shade trees, nowhere to really walk your dog, Wi-Fi is hit and miss at your site, limited facilities for adult fun. If this campground had a pool or hot tub it would be a 10. BRING YOUR FLY SWATTER! Big creek through the campground that you can swim, wade in, or fish. Small pond that you can fish also. That being said, we would return again. It is a good campground for the money.

We decided to come to Cheraw SP for a quick weekend getaway. I was pleased overall with the CG. The sites were big, but unpaved. My sons were looking forward to riding scooters, but not on unpaved roads. The lake is nice but the fishing is terrible. Golf course is very nice, and affordable. Nice cabin area also. Not much to do at the CG but relax. Playground equipment is average. The campground host/park ranger was very nice and informative. There is a civil war re-enactment in the area in March or April. I would love to come back to the CG for that, or, NASCAR race in Darlington about 26 miles down the road. There is a country club across the street, and I was told campers can use the pool for $5 a day. Other than that, I can not see staying here more than three nights.

I had the opportunity to camp here with my mother and father, who is retired navy. The CG is nice with "no frills". A lot of tall pine trees which make it rustic. There are softball fields nearby with nice playground equipment. On the base you can fish, golf, drive golf balls, go to the movies, go to the gym, or bowl. There are things to do to occupy your time. The best thing are the fighter jets flying almost directly overhead. Nevertheless, I could only see staying here 3-4 nights maximum.

This campground is interesting. The sites are big, but, you have to go through early and find your site that you think you can get your RV and TV in. A lot of sites are tough for big RV's to get into. Very quiet campground, and very nice. March and April are the busiest times. There are a lot of trees, and they kind of put the campground in around the trees, which is cool. Very nice campground, and I would come back. You will drive around for awhile until you find a nice spot. Get there early!!

I have not stayed at this CG since Thanksgiving weekend last year, but just wanted to give my thoughts about it. I love it! The sites are huge, the beach access is awesome, the mansion home on site is nice, and you can not beat the price for what you get and where you are located. Restaurant row in Murrells Inlet has some fabulous places to eat. The lowland area of the CG has some of the best wildlife in the area. I saw a bald eagle last trip. This CG is our number one spot when we go to the beach. You have to plan ahead when making reservations because they book up fast. I have a reservation for 8 nights at the end of July. Nice shaded site. I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 because all the sites do not have sewer, but, that is just one minor flaw for the price. Reserve a site and go!!!
