Elk Harbor Lakeside RV Park, Cumberland City, Tennessee

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this campsite after having read the (recent April 2017) review. The new owners are working hard to upgrade the site, and when we stayed, were just about to open the new general store. The campsite was super peaceful, and just what we needed for 3 days peace and quiet. The owners went out of their way to try and sort out the electric supply problem we had, which turned out to be an Electric Supply company problem. We are sure that in the coming months they will get the campsite up to scratch. All sites are back in and on grass with a concrete patio. Laundry needs a bit of an upgrade. We camped at Elk Harbor Lakeside RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Moab KOA, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $70.00
Overall Rating:

We were lucky in getting a site with a bit of shade on the lower part of the site, which gave us great views of the mountains. We were not happy that we were asked to pay an additional $20.00 for a fire ring, this is penny pinching when paying 70.00 a night for a site. In addition there was quite a lot of noisy building going on during the day, as workers were adding awnings and patios to nearby cabins. Looking at other campsites in the area, this KOA did seem to offer more shade, and is out of town so was very quiet at night, and gave us perfect light free skies for stargazing. We camped at Moab KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We stayed here when visiting Arches NP which was fantastic. The campsite was out of town which made it much quieter and darker at night making star gazing better. We visited Arches, Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands. Worth taking a drive down the Potash Road to see the Petroglyphs.

St. Mary / East Glacier KOA, St Mary, Montana

Date of Stay: June, 2017 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

The park was still not fully open for the season, although the owners and staff were working hard to get things finished, and did sort out the mud on our site when we complained. We were not shown to our site and in fact the site with the patio that we had booked was not finished so were given an alternative site. The laundry was excellent with lots of washers and dryers and the campsite had a very well stocked general store. Unfortunately the wind was very strong for 3 days of our stay and because we were in the top level of the campsite it was very exposed, but didn't spoil our stay. Glacier Park was fantastic would go back again. We camped at St. Mary / East Glacier KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The welcome center of the park was excellent and well worth a visit. We saw Grizzly bear and young cubs. We found there was very limited food shopping in the area and would recommend stocking up with provisions before arriving, if you are expecting to cook at home.

The campsite recommended we take the 464 from Browning to Babb and not use the 89 as it is very steep and twisty. This was really good advice and although a few miles longer was a much easier route into the area.

Headwaters Lodge & Cabins at Flagg Ranch (formerly Flagg Ranch Resort), Moran, Wyoming

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $73.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed here for 3 nights. The sites were plenty wide and long enough for our 43ft fifth wheel. The campsite was full but still remained quiet, we were able to collect wood for our fire each day. The NP rangers and staff were very helpful with information about the park. We camped at Headwaters Lodge & Cabins at Flagg Ranch (formerly Flagg Ranch Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Went on a horseback ride at Flagg Ranch, which gave us an opportunity to get out into the more remote areas of the park and see moose. Also went on a great boat trip across the lake, the captain was very knowledgeable about the park. Went for dinner at the Lodge at Flagg Ranch which we found both overpriced and of poor quality.

Whittington Woods Campground, Whittington, Illinois

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Friendly owners, nice welcome and excellent long level sites ( we have a 43ft 5th wheel ) so we didn't need to unhitch, very quiet campsite no road noise and just the usual train horns in the distance. Each site had lovely colourful flower pot. There is shade provided on all the sites we could see provided by decent tall established trees, free range chickens wandering around which made us think of home and free lovely fresh eggs from the owners for our breakfast. We would certainly stay here again and plan to do so on our return trip in 5 weeks time. We camped at Whittington Woods Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Birdsville Resort and Campground (CLOSED), Smithland, Kentucky

Date of Stay: August, 2015 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Great place on the Ohio river our site had 50amp we had to have the front of the RV to the river which was good as the door and and windows opened on to a large area with good views of the river.
we arrived late but the owners came out and helped get the RV on the site, this is a very nice place on the river with good fishing for Carp and Catfish.
It was incredibly peaceful here with only the noise of the water, the passing barges and the coyotes in the nearby woods.
we will come back next time we come this way. We camped at Birdsville Resort and Campground (CLOSED) in a Fifth Wheel.

Area's Finest Country View Campground, Ogallala, Nebraska

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

This is the second time we have stayed at this campsite, and it was as good as the last time. The owner was very helpful, escorting us to the site and making sure we were happy. The guy has his own chickens so we were able to buy lovely fresh eggs and some produce from his garden. The campsite is easy to get to from the 1 - 80 and very quiet. We will definately stay here again. We were in a 43 ft 5th wheel. There is cheap diesel fuel nearby at Walmart and Conoco. We only stayed one night but figure there are a lot of interesting spots nearby - Boot Hill etc. We camped at Area's Finest Country View Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Archuleta RV Park, Blanco, New Mexico

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice small campsite, alongside the San Juan river with relatively easy access even for big rigs. The campsite offers good fishing from the bank, trees and picnic tables. There is no wifi and our verizon just about worked. We would have given this site a better rating but unfortunately the park doesn't allow fire rings, charcoal BBQ;s or camp fires, unlike the local state park campsites nearby. Only propane grills are allowed. The owner is fastidious about the grass alongside each RV slot ( sand) and wont let you leave chairs or camp equipment out on the grass in case it damages it. We had to put all chairs, coolers and grills away each night. When we stayed in May the grass alongside the RV was watered daily each morning. We camped at Archuleta RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Most people go to the San Juan for the fishing, which is what we did. Fabulous river, great fishing and good guides. Good local fly shops in the area.

Birdsville Resort and Campground (CLOSED), Smithland, Kentucky

Date of Stay: October, 2010 - $23.00
Overall Rating:

This was a fantastic site. We were lucky to get an excellent riverside site which meant that we could fish each day. It was incredibly peaceful here with only the noise of the water, the passing barges and the coyotes in the nearby woods. Very friendly hosts, and full timers nearby who made us very welcome and gave us some fishing tips. Beautifully maintained sites, clean with good flat level sites, fire rings and reasonably priced ice and wood. The local Amish community were great for sourcing fresh milk, eggs and chickens. We would certainly come back again and have already booked for a stay in April 2011. We camped at Birdsville Resort and Campground (CLOSED) in a Motorhome.

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake, Orlando, Florida

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $15.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here when we were doing a trade show at the nearby Orange County Convention Centre, which was very handy. The park was very quiet with lots of bike and walking trails and plenty for kids to do. We did not have full hook up which was a bit of a nuisance but not a major problem. The site was quite tight with a one way system that meant we had to drive all the way round it to end up in the very last site, some of the turns were a bit difficult with a long trailer, however overall we were very satisfied and will certainly book for next year and hopefully get a site will full hookup. We camped at Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake in a Fifth Wheel.

Sleepy Hollow Lake & Campground, Keeling, Virginia

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Arrived late in the day after picking up our new 5th Wheel from a local dealer who recommended the site as being a good place to stay overnight to get used to the vehicle and check out everything was OK. The owners were not there but we were looked after well by two members of staff who helped us park up in a fairly tight site for our 40 ft 5th wheel. We had booked for the previous night but were a day late collecting the vehicle, they very kindly did not charge us for the missed night which we felt was very decent. The park looked to have plenty on offer with good bike and walking trails and well stocked lakes. We camped at Sleepy Hollow Lake & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Bass Lake RV Campground, Dillon, South Carolina

Date of Stay: March, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We only stayed overnight on our way down to Orlando, but stopped at the site on our way back a week later. The owners took every care and are working hard to continue to make improvements to the site that they took over 2 years ago. The access was excellent just off the I-95, you could hear the traffic from the Interstate but the benefits far outweighed this. We camped at Bass Lake RV Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
