Always an awesome experience here. Although sometimes a bit windy, makes for some great kite flying. We also watch a couple of people fly their RC Sail Planes here which was neat. Park staff is always friendly, as are the other campers. The sand is almost all absent from the beaches below, leaving mostly rocks, but is still nice to walk in the rocks and find some nice ones here and there. Space size can vary, but most sites are quite large and in some cases you can park your rig to "box in" the site. Generator hours are from 10A to 8P, but with the Ocean constantly roaring in the background, unless someone on the surrounding campsites has an annoyingly loud generator, you will hardly notice. Off-Air antenna works GREAT in this location. **Only problem, which does not really have to do with the State Beach itself, is the construction on Carlsbad Blvd. You cannot come straight into the park from Poinsettia. They changed this due to the amount of traffic that would be backed up toward the freeway. The ONLY way into the park is driving SB on Carlsbad Blvd. With SB Carlsbad Blvd. CLOSED at Palomar Airport Road, you are forced to take Poinsettia to NB Carlsbad Blvd and then a U-Turn at the first light. They have widened the road in order for RV's to make these wide turns which is not too much of a problem, but any U-turn in a RV is annoying.

Overall a great experience. Plenty of the standard things to do within the RV park and family friendly. BBQ Night on Friday and Movie Night on Saturday. The arcade games are a bit dated and the $10 deposit for billiard or table tennis use is enough to deter one from using them. The price for what you get is a bit on the high side, but there are really no other choices for the area, although we did see quite a few RV's just parked on the side of the road throughout Buellton (and some even on the street just outside the RV park). Clean park, friendly staff and fresh baked cookies when you check in. Very easy to maneuver my 36' motorhome and tow vehicle around the park. Note: If you are going to stop for a day in Solvang, there is Day-Use (FREE) RV Parking at the City Hall/Police station downtown.
