Sunset Bay State Park, Coos Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: October, 2015 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

One of our favorite Oregon state parks. Perfectly situated just across the street from the beach at Sunset Bay. Our full hookup site was spacious and all of the utilities worked well. The park roads are wide and level making it easy to walk the dogs around the park. Park staff and campground host are very helpful and know the surrounding area well. Host drives through the campground in the evening selling firewood. We camped at Sunset Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

This is an excellent Oregon state park. The park staff is very friendly and knowledgable Sites are well situated to allow for privacy. Parking pads are level and fit our 40' motorhome and towed vehicle easily. This has many great hiking trails and a couple of very nice lakes for fishing and kayaking. There is also direct access to the Oregon dunes. We camped at Jesse M. Honeyman Memorial State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to old town Florence. Many great restaurants to choose from. We had dinner at Mo's right on the waterfront and the food was excellent. There are several ATV and dune buggy outfits that offer rentals or guided tours of the dunes.

Valley of the Rogue State Park, Gold Hill, Oregon

Overall Rating:

Stayed for three nights. This is a very nice Oregon state park. Pad was level and fit our 40' motorhome and towed vehicle easily. Our site had full hookups and all utilities were conveniently located and worked well. We backed right up to the Rogue River and you could hear the rapids at night. Conveniently located to the area attractions. We camped at Valley of the Rogue State Park in a Motorhome.

Pomo RV Park & Campground, Fort Bragg, California

Date of Stay: May, 2015 - $47.00
Overall Rating:

As usual, we had a very enjoyable stay here. Check in was easy. Park staff was friendly and helpful. They were in the process of expanding the shower/restroom facilities, but everything was available for use. They have a new wifi provider and the signal was very strong. The staff is always active in the park keeping everything clean. We had a front row spot (site #3) which gives you a good view of the large grassy area. The park store has some basic supplies available as well as lots of local tourist information. We will definitely visit again. We camped at Pomo RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Sunset Bay State Park, Coos Bay, Oregon

Date of Stay: September, 2014 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

Very nice Oregon state park. Parking pads are mostly level. Excellent separation between sites with lots of trees and shrubs. Although we had rain one day, the site stayed relatively dry with no standing water. I would recommend that you choose your site carefully, as many are at a right angle to the roadway making backing up a challenge. We had to go the wrong way on the access road in order to get settled in our site. It was no big deal, just something to be aware of. Many of the sites on the outside of the A and D loops are at a much better angle for backing in to. Many of those sites also have water, sewer and electric, while the interior sites are water and electric only. We will definitely stay here again when in the area. We camped at Sunset Bay State Park in a Motorhome.

Westside Regional Park, Bodega Bay, California

Date of Stay: August, 2013 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

The last time I reviewed this park was over four years ago, so I thought an update was warranted. In spite of the fee increase to $28.00 per night, the park is in need of attention. Sites are still adequate, but the landscaping has suffered do to neglect. Lots of dead grass, ice plant, etc. The campground hosts are friendly and helpful. Also, you now have to pay a $7.00 fee to use the dump station even if you are a registered camper. We camped at Westside Regional Park in a Motorhome.

Ancient Redwoods RV Park, Redcrest, California

Date of Stay: September, 2011 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is a great park in an excellent location. Sites are paved and level. Good 50 amp service and water pressure. Utility hookups are easy to use and conveniently located. No cable tv, but that's ok with us because we don't watch tv when we're on the road. Park is located right on the Avenue of the Giants and is convenient to Ferndale, Eureka and the redwod parks. We will be back in the spring. We camped at Ancient Redwoods RV Park in a Motorhome.

Doran Park, Bodega Bay, California

Date of Stay: September, 2010 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Nightly rate reflects disabled pass discount. We stay here several times a year and are never disappointed. Easy access to campsites. Restrooms and showers are clean and well stocked. Camp host is friendly and helpful. The park rangers are very active, driving through several times daily. I would have rated the park higher, but the main access road is in need of extensive repairs. Lots of nice people and an all around good time. We camped at Doran Park in a Motorhome.

Pomo RV Park & Campground, Fort Bragg, California

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

After reading a couple of recent negative reviews, I was concerned because we have camped here for over 20 years and have always enjoyed ourselves. I am happy to say that we were not disappointed. Check in was easy, the staff very friendly and helpful. The site was clean, all utilities worked perfectly and we had a excellent time. The nightly rate of $42.00 was for 50 amp service and reflects the Good Sam discount. If you ask, they will deliver firewood to your site for no charge. Although we did not use the restrooms and showers, they were clean and in good repair. They just opened a remodeled laundry room which is very nice. The park was nearly full all 10 days we were here and everyone seemed to be having a good time. We will definitely camp here again. We camped at Pomo RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Half Moon Bay State Beach, Half Moon Bay, California

Date of Stay: May, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

Nightly fee reflects 50% disabled rate. Has level, paved sites with a separate pad for tow vehicle or "dinghy". We had an ocean view site which really exposes you to the wind; but gives a nice sunset view. Close to the town of Half Moon Bay, Pigeon Point Lighthouse, and Pacifica. Park was pretty busy, in spite of the pricey nightly rate. We will camp here again, but probably would not if paying the full rate. We camped at Half Moon Bay State Beach in a Motorhome.

Pismo State Beach - Oceano Campground, Oceano, California

Date of Stay: February, 2010 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

Site fee reflects a disabled pass rate. This was our first time in the Pismo area and we were very pleased with the campground. We stayed in the front section which features long, level, paved, pull through sites with water and electric hook-ups. This is a very nice park, close to the beach and local attractions. We drove South to Solvang on two different days and had a very enjoyable trip. We will be back in September. We camped at Pismo State Beach - Oceano Campground in a Motorhome.

Daily site fee reflects disabled rate. One of our favorite parks to stay at. Has spacious, paved mostly level sites, some with an ocean view. We had a hook-up site (w/e); water pressure and power were both good. We camped at New Brighton State Beach in a Motorhome.

Westside Regional Park, Bodega Bay, California

Date of Stay: December, 2009 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

One of our favorite parks. We stay here four or five times a year. Has level, paved sites, and several pull-throughs with bay views. If you want to walk on the beach, it's a short drive over to Doran County Park and your camping receipt gives you free admittance. Camp hosts are very friendly and do a good job keeping the campground tidy. We camped at Westside Regional Park in a Motorhome.
