When I fisrt called about this campground I had a lot of questions about Mt. Desert Island and what types of things there were to do there. The camp manager was happy to answer all of my questions and he was very polite. I had also read other reviews of this campground that made it sound like a solid choice for my vacation plans. I had high hopes for this campsite. When I got there there was so much smoke bellowing around the area you could actually see it from the road outside the campgrounds. Ariving at my sight I was disapointed to see that no secluded site was to be seen, in fact I had four other campsites really close, I could hear conversations and snoring all night. Not to mention it's close proximity to a major road which you could hear cars and motor bikes that don't quit. Worst of all, I was told that Bar Harbor was close. Bar Harbor is thirty minutes away, so is Catalac Mountain, Whale Watching, and almost all other activities. We cancelled our reservations after one night, and the owner, who is not-so-nice in person, still charged us for a portion of our planned stay despite the $10.00 advertized cancellation fee. This campground was a waste of time on our vacation. I highly recommend staying at Bar Harbor Campgounrds instead. We camped at Bass Harbor Campground in a Tent.
