Sam's Family Spa, Desert Hot Springs, California

Date of Stay: November, 2011 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

We enjoyed our week staying at Sam's. The park is a bit weathered, but it was clean and comfortable, with a friendly feel. The pool and spa's are wonderful. The cable is fair. It is nice to have concrete slabs. We will be returning here. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.

Laguna Campground, Pine Valley, California

Date of Stay: October, 2011 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground with lots of nice spots and good separation. Some spots are not very level. Many hiking trails and dog friendly. Dogs are allowed on the trails. General store is a few miles away. No hook-ups, and no dump station available. Water is available. There is a table and fire ring at site. We have camped here many times. We camped at Laguna Campground in a Motorhome.

Emma Wood State Beach, Ventura, California

Date of Stay: November, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The Pros: Awesome beach front camping, beautiful views. Not much traffic, campers only. The Cons: Spaces are small and people park any direction they want. Some people park on the right, some on the left, so you end up with motorhomes 6 inches away in some cases. Also they seem to let rigs in that are really too big. They squeeze in but it is very tight. Neighbor's fire was about 5 ft from my rig. We camped at Emma Wood State Beach in a Motorhome.

El Capitan State Beach, Goleta, California

Date of Stay: November, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

The beach is spectacular, This campground could be so much better. There are a few spots with views of the ocean but most do not. The trees and bushes are so overgrown, they look bad and block the great coast view. The park looks like it has had no maintenance for a long time. Some sites are very unlevel and small. Bike path to Refugio was closed. We camped at El Capitan State Beach in a Motorhome.

Rincon Parkway Campground, Ventura, California

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $27.00
Overall Rating:

On the west side of your RV it is a 10, with a million dollar view. The east side is much lower with a fairly busy 45 mph road right next to the RV. This was a great overnight spot and I would go back. Not that great for walking dogs. Please be careful of dogs, and kids, and the road. We camped at Rincon Parkway Campground in a Motorhome.

Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground, Pismo Beach, California

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

We found this park to be very nice and comfortable. Spots are level, roomy, and have good separation. Park was about 30% full so it was nice and quiet, the summer months might be a different story. Short trail leads out to a wonderful beach. Very dog friendly. We camped at Pismo State Beach - North Beach Campground in a Motorhome.
