Champagne Lakes, Escondido, California

Date of Stay: January, 2016 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for five weeks. The sites are nice and large enough for our 45' motor home. We were escorted to our site and then the owner even came by and helped us back in. We stayed for over a month, so had to pay for electric. It is on a tiered system which starts at $.10 a kilowatt and ends at $.30 a kilowatt. We were told that it changes monthly. We were also charged an EECC fee of $115. Our total electric bill was $415, so I recommend using propane. A propane truck comes by on Fridays to fill up motor homes. We camped at Champagne Lakes in a Motorhome.

Santa Cruz Monterey Bay KOA, Watsonville, California

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

This park is beautiful. They do seem to cater to the locals and weekenders with families and not long term people. The park is definitely designed for kids and you have to be careful with all the bike riders. Sites were very nice with landscaping and long enough for our rig. The outdoor staff were very friendly, but the office staff were rude. We camped at Santa Cruz Monterey Bay KOA in a Motorhome.

The Fair Park RV - Alameda County Fairgrounds, Pleasanton, California

Date of Stay: December, 2015 - $65.00
Overall Rating:

We parked in the 50 amp pull-thru sites. Our area was grassy. The 30 amp pull-thru sites are on asphalt. We did not have any problems with our site being level. The office staff is very friendly and they love dogs. The staff started handing out treats to the dogs while we were there and the office window became a popular stop for the dogs. I have felt very safe walking my dog at night. We camped at The Fair Park RV - Alameda County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Safeway, a grocery store, is located across from the fairgrounds. There are several restaurants in the same shopping center as well as CVS. The park is located near shopping and restaurants. Pleasanton is a very nice town. It is nearby a shopping mall as well as the BART system which takes you into San Francisco.

Dublin and Livermore are nearby towns that offer many restaurants and shopping. Sauced is a really good BBQ restaurant in Livermore.

Covered Wagon Campground, Abilene, Kansas

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here in a motor home while attending a greyhound event. It was very convenient to local attractions (Greyhound Hall of Fame is within walking distance) as well as downtown. The campground is a stop for the trolley that takes tours of the area. The campground was clean. It's not the prettiest place, but was perfect for our needs. The staff was very nice. We would stay here again. We camped at Covered Wagon Campground in a Motorhome.

St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA, Eureka, Missouri

Date of Stay: March, 2009 - $25.00
Overall Rating:

This campground is very clean and has nice areas to walk. However, since it is located near train tracks, the trains woke us up several times during the night blowing their whistles. Also, it's near a busy roadway and the traffic was also loud. There is a nice pool and play area for the kids. We may stay here again. We camped at St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA in a Motorhome.
