This was our first time at Fort Wilderness. The sites were clean and all the amenities were excellent. Having transportation to/from the parks was a very nice feature. Three things that keep me from rating it a 10. PRICE - it was nice - but $104 per night nice - not really. Spring break and they jacked the rates to maximum. Dog loop - we asked for the preferred loop so we could take our dogs. Reservation confirmation said they would TRY to accommodate us. They won't guarantee it with the reservation. Bottom line is we didn't know for sure we had a place for our dogs until we arrived. Parking - They kept harassing everybody to keep all wheels of the truck on pavement. The sites are small and it was impossible. Their solution is to move your vehicle to overflow parking (miles away). We all felt it was to get us to rent their very expensive golf carts. It was very hard to maneuver in and out with a trailer because everyone had the noses sticking in the road to stay on the pavement.

Very nice state park. We live nearby and I work in Huntsville so we decided to just camp for a few days while I worked. The sites are large and in a wooded setting. They have taken steps to keep it natural and still provide some conveniences. Nice staff and clean restrooms. Great views just a few steps away. I would recommend to anyone looking for a state park type setting. If you need a pool, clubhouse, internet, etc. this is not for you.

This is the second time I've stayed here. This time was a 5 day stay that included Thanksgiving with my family (who were in a cabin). Only 8 or 10 other campers and it was very nice. I had a choice of several nice sites. They have done a great job of clearing adequate space while still leaving a lot of trees for shade and an "outdoor" feeling. I would rate this a 10 but the facilities are a bit old and need some work. If you are looking for big rig access with all the bells and whistles, this is not for you. If you are looking for a nice camping experience, it is great.

Very nice park if you want to just get away. A lot of space between sites and almost all have shade trees. Pretty location with about half the sites right on the lake. The only "entertainment" is the lake but that was fine with us. Only one bath house and it is a good walk from some sites. Again, fine with us since we have a toilet in the trailer but could be a hassle for tent campers with kids.

This is a state park campground that is nice but needs a bit of work. We stayed in C area (on the lake) and enjoyed the scenery and wildlife. Unfortunately it was crowded and that kind of spoiled it. Restrooms are old. They are clean but need to be updated. I would go back but will stay in area A or B the next time as they were not as crowded.
