Mescalero Sand North Dune OHV Area, Roswell, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $5.00
Overall Rating:

Just peaceful, quiet, wonderful high desert. Dry camping, wildflowers everywhere. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Recommend camping Monday through Friday, as it very quiet except on weekends. Best camping is at the end of road. Retired BLM camphost and wife from Tennessee, and they are great. We camped at Mescalero Sand North Dune OHV Area in a Motorhome.

Leasburg Dam State Park, Radium Springs, New Mexico

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $17.00

Nice park, great staff, but fill your fresh water tank before you get there. Water is so bad it stained the side of my motorhome with iron. The water is seriously bad. We camped at Leasburg Dam State Park in a Motorhome.

Portal RV Resort and Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: April, 2010 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This year was my 3rd season staying at the portal. The previous managers were very friendly and helpful people. The year one of the owners was very rude to us. I will not drive 2000 miles one way again to have him try to ruin my vacation. Also mosquitoes were very bad there compared to previous years, and the internet was nearly useless. We always stay in the owner's premium section. I can only imagine how he treats the people in the tent section. Dogs were allowed to run loose the 6 days we were there. We camped at Portal RV Resort and Campground in a Motorhome.

Bottomless Lakes State Park, Roswell, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2009 - $17.00
Overall Rating:

Nice park with one exception--I've never ever seen so many black flies. If you leave a door open while outside, you will have 2 or 3 hundred to deal with inside. We stayed here in a motorhome. We camped at Bottomless Lakes State Park in a Motorhome.

Slickrock Campground, Moab, Utah

Date of Stay: May, 2009 - $32.00
Overall Rating:

The good, this park has lots of shade. The bad, all of the shade is from cottonwood trees. It kind of reminds you of a nuclear winter with all the cotton blowing around; very dangerous if fire should start where all the cotton piles up. Also, it has a permanent section with residents always driving in and out way too fast, you'll have to wash you camper after a stay here. We camped at Slickrock Campground in a Motorhome.
