USA RV Park, Gallup, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $35.00
Overall Rating:

This was our 3rd visit and our longest (4 days). We were assigned site 117 in the new roomy back section with water, sewer, and electric. No cable at the site, but out antenna brought in some local stations. The campground is clean, well maintained, and improving. The wifi in the back was poor, but my Verizon air card worked well. Laundry was convenient and reasonably priced. There was some airplane noise in daylight, but not at night. We would return again. We camped at USA RV Park in a Motorhome.

Bayfield Riverside RV Park, Bayfield, Colorado

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

This park shows the pride of ownership with cleanliness, and landscaping which includes colorful flowers and running streams with ponds. Wifi was excellent and cable TV was decent. Staff friendly and helpful. Behind our site was a path with a bridge over the stream and there was an alpaca tied up there which liked to be fed fruit. The road noise was acceptable and did not interfere with sleeping as traffic dropped significantly at night. We camped at Bayfield Riverside RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Brenda's restaurant just east of the park has dinner specials some nights of the week, and there is a burger place next to it that made a good milkshake. If interested in 2 &/or 4-wheeling there areopportunities in the area. Chimney Rock is east on the way to Pagosa Springs. Westerly is Durango for shopping and bicycling along the Animas River.

Bluffview RV Park (formerly Mom and Pops RV Park), Farmington, New Mexico

Date of Stay: September, 2018 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We had one of the newly upgraded 50 amp sites. Power A-OK.The rate was based on a week stay. There is no laundry room, however there's an excellent Laundrytopia one block away next to the fuel station. A car/bus wash is across from the laundry. We camped at Bluffview RV Park (formerly Mom and Pops RV Park) in a Motorhome.

South Fork Campground, South Fork, Colorado

Date of Stay: August, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

River sites unavailable, but we had a pull through. Park was well kept and wifi was great. Quiet area as it is off the highway 160 and down by the river. Parked RR cars help screen the highway noise. Follow signs carefully as the entrance is between parked RR cars and the park is hidden. A nice rest stop is one mile east of the park if you wish to disconnect in advance, although not necessary. Staff was friendly and laundry room was reasonable and convenient. There is a grocery/RV supply/hardware store near the intersection of Highways 160 and 149. We camped at South Fork Campground in a Motorhome.

Visited Creede and the Batchelor Loop including the Last Chance Mine; Silver Thread Scenic Byway to Lake City (old ice cream parlor w/ good stuff) ; all of which had beautiful scenery. There are a number of forest service roads for driving (check whether 4 wheel drive is needed - Jeep and ATV rentals are available in town.)

Camp Three Forks , Three Forks, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

This park is just south of the intersection of 287 and I-90. We were charged an extra $3/night for our granddaughter. This is a former KOA that is well maintained. The trees narrow the roadways but they are negotiable for an experienced driver. I needed to do minor trimming at our site to avoid branches rubbing on slide toppers. We camped at Camp Three Forks in a Motorhome.

Ennis RV Village, Ennis, Montana

Date of Stay: July, 2018 - $38.00
Overall Rating:

Just north of town. WATCH SPEED LIMITS as there were frequently drivers pulled over by PD. Park was very clean with good utilities. Good location with little road noise, a nearby fuel station and grocery. Laundry room was convenient and reasonable. There are a number of sunbirds from warmer places that spend their summers here. We camped at Ennis RV Village in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited Quake Lake, created by an earthquake resulting in a huge landslide. Worth the visit about 40 miles east. Lots of fly fishing along the river. We also visited Virginia City including the boardwalk downtown, ate a decent meal at the VC Cafe, attended the melodrama at the west end of town and laughed a lot, the Boot Hill cemetery, and Nevada City. All worthwhile.

Valley View RV Park, Island Park, Idaho

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 6 days to visit Yellowstone NP and this was the nearest we could get due to being late in making reservations. The staff is friendly and helpful. Laundry is available at the office. The site was more than adequate - level and wide. The underground varmints had many holes in the grass, but were not a problem. The trash bin was a walk - at the other end of the RV park. We camped at Valley View RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We purchased groceries at Robin's Roost west on highway 20, and, at the 2 grocers in West Yellowstone. West Yellowstone is about 20 minutes away. Yellowstone souvenirs were less expensive in West Yellowstone than in the NP. We found long lines at the NP entry, and within the park. Expect some delays. We lived with it and had full days of sightseeing. If one feature was backed up, we went on to another and generally had an easier time finding parking.

Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated), Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for 5 days. Be aware of possible lines of folks waiting to dump or get fresh water at the entrance area. A bargain campground in the Jackson area. There was paving in process when we arrived but it appears to be completed. The nearby restroom was easily accessible and well maintained. We saw 2 moose in the south section - F loop. The campground was never full during our time, but the town of Jackson was full of visitors. We camped at Gros Ventre Campground (Concessionaire Operated) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We attended ranger evening programs on bison, the Gros Ventre landslide (3 miles X 1/2 mile) and bats. We visited the slide area, a short drive to the east of the campground. There are many places to view the Tetons and the view changes with the weather and time of day. We observed bison, pronghorn antelope, moose and birds. During our stay we experienced sun, rain and hail. We ate at Bubba's Barbecue in Jackson west of downtown - great food and parking.

Tips for other Campers:

The first day we went to Snow Canyon state park, just west of town and walked some of the trails and features. We found a shaded picnic table for lunch and were visited by squirrels, a blue jay, and chipmunks. Feeding animals is discouraged. The next day we left for Zion NP at 8AM and after parking near town bus stop #2 ($21) walked to the visitor center and stood in line for 45 minutes to board the park shuttle.

Val Vista Village (55+ park), Mesa, Arizona

Date of Stay: March, 2018 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

Nice facilities and convenient to the Mesa area. Site 918 is difficult to enter due to tree across from it and a retaining wall on the driver's side. Other sites are tight but easier to move the RV in. We had to move from site 866 to 918 for our 2nd week. The cost represents the weekly rate. There was no discount during March as it is peak season. Park has hot tubs, pools, mini-golf, shuffleboard and other opportunities for exercise. We camped at Val Vista Village (55+ park) in a Motorhome.

Crazy Horse RV Campground, Kanab, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $39.00
Overall Rating:

The price includes $5.00 for 50 amp service. We were here for one night on the way to Lake Powell. Site was sloped, requiring leveling, and I added a portable entry step which we carry. The pool was clean but cool. Laundry was $1.00 to wash, and dry. There's a rec room with 2 pool tables. The free wifi worked well. Staff provided a brochure (one of the best we've seen) with area facilities and vacation info. We would consider staying here again. We camped at Crazy Horse RV Campground in a Motorhome.

Wasatch View Estates and RV Park, Ogden, Utah

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here 2 days using Passport America. The park is as described by others. Staff helpful and friendly as I was able to borrow a battery charger for the tow. On arrival they provided a list of places to visit locally. When we called, we requested a pull thru and we were guided into one. Many sites are back-ins. When in the park, watch for the speed bumps. Tips for other Campers:

The area has Walmarts, Costco, grocery stores, churches, etc. On the list we were given was Antelope Island State Park a couple of miles south and west. It was well worth the $5.00 senior admission with a visitor center, dry camping, beaches, bison and other animals, and a mid 1800's ranch that was gradually modernized and is now open to visitors. If considering camping there, there are odors and some flying insects which are more pesty than bitey.

Anderson Camp , Eden, Idaho

Date of Stay: September, 2017 - $49.00
Overall Rating:

We wanted a 50 amp site for which we were charged $10.00, the most we've ever been charged for 1 night. There are amenities (most closed & locked after Labor Day) and there are charges, e.g. for playing mini golf. One lukewarm pool was open but had not been cleaned as I was looking at hair and other debris on the bottom so I only got my legs wet. Our site was in the back, and I was awake at 0430 hearing some freeway traffic, but it was not bad. The interior roads were coated so there was no dust. We camped at Anderson Camp in a Motorhome.

Park is on the river with a view of the mountains. Staff very helpful and keeps the facilities well maintained. Propane was available at a decent price. The PA rate was good for one night. Fresh eggs and produce available at a good price. We would have liked to stay longer, but the area was smokey due to forest fires in the northwest.
